Two Marian liturgical celebrations are commemorated in May. When Ascension falls in May, the Saturday after the Ascension of Our Lord is traditionally celebrated as the Feast of Our Lady, Queen of the Apostles. The liturgy commemorates the period of time after the Ascension when the apostles were gathered in prayer with Mary and the women in the Upper Room. On May 31, in the United States, we celebrate the Commemoration of the Visitation. When Mary heard that her elderly relative, Elizabeth, was expecting a child, she hurried to help her. Mary's service brought Christ to the home of Zechariah and Elizabeth.
The month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary in many cultures. May is considered the season of the beginning of new life. Already in Greek culture, May was dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of fecundity. In Roman culture, May was dedicated to Flora, the goddess of bloom, of blossoms. The Romans celebrated ludi florales (literally: floral games) at the end of April, asking the intercession of Flora for all that blooms. This is also related to the medieval practice of expelling winter. May 1 was considered the beginning of growth.
At one time, the custom of having a Mary-month was independent from the month of May as such:
A very old tradition known as Tricesimum (or: Thirty-Day Devotion to Mary; also called Lady Month) was originally held from August 15 - September 14. The exact dates or origin of this devotion are unknown, but the custom is still practiced here and there.
Mary Month, as yet unrelated to a specific period, has been known since baroque times (Sources: Johannes Nadasi; Theophilus Marianus, 1664; J. X. Jacolet, Mensis Marianus, 1724). This devotion was comprised of about thirty spiritual exercises in honor of Mary.
Since medieval times, we have had the combination between Mary and the month of May. Among the earliest witnesses are: Alphonsus X, "el sabio," King of Castille, Spain (1221-1284) with his "Cantigas de Santa Maria" ("Ben venna Mayo"). Here and elsewhere, both Mary and the month of May are greeted, welcomed and celebrated on specific days in May. Later, the whole month of May became the month of Mary. On each day of this month, special devotions to Mary were organized. This custom originated in Italy (for example: Ferrara, 1784). It was spread widely during the nineteenth century, a century well-known for its monthly devotions (Heart of Jesus in June; Rosary in October).
There are many ways to celebrate this particular devotion. Most churches have a daily recitation of the rosary. Some include the crowning of Our Lady's statue. The important thing is that Mary be honored in a special way. At one time, the domestic celebrations of the month of May were widespread, especially by setting up a small May altar in the home.
May crowning became popular in the United States, especially prior to Vatican II. This practice continues in many parishes today. A statue of Mary is honored with a wreath of blossoms to indicate Mary's virtues, virtues that were to be imitated by the faithful. The ceremony usually takes place in the context of a public parish devotion outside of the liturgy.
For the little ones, a "different" kind of crowning. Have all the children participate. Here's how:
Make a big crown out of chicken wire or similar wire with holes large enough to stick flower stems through it. A good size for a normal congregation is about two and half feet high and three feet wide. (Once this is made, your parish can use it year after year.) The crown will be "flat" - or semi-curved. Set it up in front of the main altar or in front of the Marian altar - just high enough so the congregation can see, but that the children can reach it. You may wish to pre-decorate the edges somewhat with greens.
Have every child bring whatever flowers can be found: lilacs, dandelions... or even just green leaves or fresh tips of evergreens. Most little children know the joy of bringing mom a gift of a bouquet. (Be sure to have a pail of extras for those who forget; funeral homes are very obliging in providing suggestions, too.) The little bouquet stands for the love the child has for mom. This also applies to our love for Mary, Jesus' mother and our mother.
Explain that every flower is different! Every flower is God's gift. This one reminds us of this, and that of that. There truly is no one single symbolic meaning to any flower. The children can be creative and think of whatever it means to them.
Ideal would be that your Mary statue (or icon/picture!) also has Jesus on it! Mother and Child undivided! You can then explain to the little ones that the reason we thank Mary is that she brought Jesus to us. We thank Mary and love her because she loved Jesus! She also loves us and wants to do everything possible to bring us to Jesus. When Jesus was a little boy, he probably picked his mother flowers, too--just as we do--and brought them to Mary!
During the actual ceremony, have a procession that EVERYONE takes part in. During the procession decades of the rosary, interspersed with songs, can be prayed and sung.
Have three "moms" positioned behind the crown. The children (and all participants) stick in the flower stems, the moms pull from behind to make sure the flowers stay in and get spaced a bit. Line the little ones up two or three in a row in the procession so that it goes quickly enough. (Too long is very bad for the little ones!)
The crown will last only a day, but it will be beautiful! The children will ALL have crowned, and it will have been a joyful time for them.

In the Wilderness of Sin, Moses and the Israelites camped near Mount Sinai, also called Mount Horeb.
The name Sinai is derived from the Sumerian MOON Goddess called SIN, and therefore is a name referring to the Moon and to the Flood. Roscoe The Green Man Rosslyn's architecture is the presence of 'Green Men'. These are carvings of human faces with greenery all around them, often growing out of their mouths. They are commonly thought to be a symbol of renewal and fertility, pre-Christian in origin. In Rosslyn they are found in all areas of the chapel, with one excellent example in the Lady Chapel, between the two middle altars of the east wall. It has been hypothesized that the green men in Rosslyn symbolism the months of the year in progression from East to West in the Chapel.
Young faces are seen in the East symbolizing Spring and as we progress towards the setting sun in the west the carvings age as in autumn of man's years. There are in excess of 110 carvings of Green men in and around the Chapel.

Eisenman scanned the floor of the Tour When the ultrasound had been completed and the results studied, the scientists discovered an anomaly beneath the tower. We have our complements and opposites - and the (inverted) triangles (of the dark 'B' pillar/Earth and Water ... and Moon/Mater) are a "popular symbol for" female - but there are also inconsistencies with other ideas advanced above. Yin and Yang are polarities/opposites, but their imagery is also the mirror/complementary circle made by 6 9 run together with white for male (+ black dot) and black for female (+ white dot). There is obviously similarity to ideas above. If I try to fit Yin and Yang to the 4 Royal Watchers, though, male is the N-S (Sun-Air) axis and female is the E-W axis (Earth-Water). They are not polarised opposites. The symbology of the triangles - upright male and inverted female - found on alchemical J and B pillars fits to the axes, but it is hard to see how any of this is consistent, say, with White Woman of the West and Red Man of the East, the alchemical Moon and Sun. Galen will not fit, either. This female lunar Mercury- male/solar Sulphur symbology is at variance to female Red Rose v Male White which fits to Hindu wedding colours (+ gold) but apparently other cultures/religions have reversed values ...

The Great Seal of the United States of America employs traditional symbols of heraldry to tell the story of the foundation and the hopes of the fledgling nation. The origins and meanings of the symbols are explained, for the most part, in the official document (PDF format) supplied by the U.S. State Department . Additional details are found on John D. MacArthur's excellent site GreatSeal.com .
The Great Seal is used to seal 2,000 to 3,000 documents each year. It identifies the authority and ensures the authenticity of the documents sealed by the United States Government. As such, it provides an apt analogy of the Bible Wheel as God's Divine Seal of Approval on the structure of the Bible, the fundamental founding document of the Christian Faith.
The Great Seal was designed to explicitly acknowledge God's hand in the foundation of the United States, as stated in the official description (page 12) of the reverse side of the Seal:
The pyramid signifies strength and duration: The eye over it and the motto, Annuit Coeptis (He [God] has favored our undertakings), allude to the many interventions of Providence in favor of the American cause. The date underneath is that of the Declaration of Independence and the words under it, Novus Ordo Seclorum (A new order of the ages), signify the beginning of the new American era in 1776.
The "many interventions of Providence" include the integration of the numbers, mottos, and geometric forms of the Great Seal with God's design of the Holy Bible and His intent for the new nation. Regardless of the theological variations amongst the founding fathers, every signer of the Declaration of Independence , to a man, placed his life and sacred honor in the hands of Divine Providence, as recorded in the last sentence of that great document:
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
The Continental-Confederation Congress, a legislative body that governed the United States from 1774 to 1789, contained an extraordinary number of deeply religious men. The amount of energy that Congress invested in encouraging the practice of religion in the new nation exceeded that expended by any subsequent American national government. Although the Articles of Confederation did not officially authorize Congress to concern itself with religion, the citizenry did not object to such activities. This lack of objection suggests that both the legislators and the public considered it appropriate for the national government to promote a nondenominational, nonpolemical Christianity.
Congress appointed chaplains for itself and the armed forces, sponsored the publication of a Bible, imposed Christian morality on the armed forces, and granted public lands to promote Christianity among the Indians. National days of thanksgiving and of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" were proclaimed by Congress at least twice a year throughout the war.
These are the men used of God to found this nation. Three of them were also commissioned by the newly formed Continental Congress to design the Great Seal. Before they adjourned on July 4, 1776, Congress passed this resolution:
Resolved, that Dr. Franklin, Mr. J. Adams and Mr. Jefferson, be a committee, to bring in a device for a seal for the United States of America.
Truly, the Lord's hand was on the foundation of this great country, this City on a Hill, this Beacon of Light, Life, and Liberty to all the peoples of the world! America is the Land of the Free because of the freedom wrought by Christ, our Eternal Light. May His Light shine on us forevermore!
A Radiant Constellation of Thirteen Stars
The beautiful mystery of God's hidden hand on the foundation of America, the design of the Great Seal, and the structure of the Bible manifests most clearly in the Number 13. Seven features of the Great Seal are based on this number which, in natural terms, alludes to nothing more than the original thirteen colonies. If God had no hand in these events, the number of colonies would be nothing but a mere accident of history and there would be no meaning to be found in it. It is here that the glory of God shines with great clarity, leaving little doubt about His involvement in the birth of the nation.
The biblical meaning of the Number 13 has been rigorously established by God in the reiterative structure of the Shema, the first and greatest commandment given in Deuteronomy 6:4 (cf. The Unity Holograph and Shield of the Blessed Trinity). The root ideas are Love and Unity, as seen in this fundamental pair of alphanumeric identities:
The Bible calls Love "the perfect bond of unity" (Colossians 3:14, NASB). The digits One and Three reiterate the idea of the One Triune God, Who is represented by the Eye in the Triangle above the unfinished pyramid. The Triangle is an ancient Christian symbol for the Trinity, and the Eye denotes God's omniscience. It is called the "Eye of Providence" in the official State Departments description of the Seal. The relation between the Three members of the Godhead is the root ontological source of Love in the Universe. These ideas find their ultimate expression in the greatest declaration of the nature of Love ever written, the thirteen verses of I Corinthians Thirteen, where the thirteenth verses is itself explicitly built on a pattern of One and Three.
All of this was historically illustrated in the foundation of the United States when thirteen colonies united to form one nation under God. This means that the premier biblical number of Unity - the Number 13 - was historically manifested and inextricably stamped on the foundation of the USA, and has been propogated all over the planet via the ONE dollar bill. A similar work was accomplished when Israel manifested the meaning of the Number 430 in the history of their years in Egypt. In both cases, God designed History and Scripture in accordance with the alphanumeric values of fundamental Greek and Hebrew words (cf. Introduction to the Gematria Reference to learn about the numeric values of words).
Yet this is but the beginning. The idea of composite unity is exemplified in the Twelve Disciples surrounding Christ and the Twelve Tribes of Israel united in God. This is geometrically expressed in the hexagonal Star Number, commonly known as the Star of David, which appears in the constellation of 13 Stars above the eagle's head. Numbers of the form figure prominently in both the Creation and the Logos Holographs. It also relates to the name "Israel" that God gave to Jacob, with its numerical weight of 541 which is the Tenth Hexagonal Star Number, so that the numerical value of the name Israel forms a Star of David!

The official description of the constellation above the eagle's head specifies the number but not the pattern of the stars. MacArthur notes that the pattern violates the traditional laws of heraldry which forbid heraldic stars from being placed in a pattern, and in a personal communication indicated he knew of no historical explanation for the use of the hexagonal Star Number formation. All that is known is that it was used in the original seal made in 1782, and every seal thereafter. It would seem that the the Star pattern is another manifestation of the hidden hand of Divine Providence guiding the foundation and development of the USA.
In his article Thirteen Arrows on GreatSeal.com, under the heading "The Power of Unity", MacArthur comments:
Infinitely stronger than a single rod, the unbreakable nature of aligned rods means that the bundle of arrows also symbolizes the power of unity – the attitude needed to successfully protect and defend one's nation, and if necessary, wage war to do so.
He then cites the moral of Aesop's Fable "The Bundle of Sticks", which is "In Unity is Strength." Given its inextricable integration with both Scripture and American History, it remains a mystery how triskaidekaphobia (fear of the Number 13) ever found root in America.
The Latin phrase written on the banner held in the eagle's beak means "Out of Many, One" refering to the union of 13 States to form one nation under God. The source of of this phrase is explained on page 8 of the State Department's official document :
The motto E Pluribus Unum, emblazoned across the scroll and clenched in the eagle's beak, expresses the union of the 13 States. Recent scholarship has pointed out the probable source of this motto: Gentlemen's Magazine, published in London from 1732 to 1922, was widely read by the educated in the American Colonies. Its title page carried that same motto and it is quite possible that it influenced the creators of the seal.
The thirteen letters of E Pluribus Unum are divided into three words consisting of 1, 8, and 4 letters, resepectively. These numbers correspond to the letters Aleph, Chet, and Dalet, spelling the word (Echad, One), which is the basis of the Unity Holograph. Clearly, no human could have contrived such a coincidence - the phrase is standard Latin that was in use before the seal was even conceived. We have a threefold integration of 1) the meaning of the phrase with 2) the number of letters and 3) the division of those letters into words. And all this is found in the Great Seal that commemorates the union of thirteen colonies as one nation under God. Nothing but the infinite Wisdom of God could have caused so many lines - biblical, linguistic, geometric, symbolic, and historical - to converge with such grace and simplicity.
1776 and the Eye of God
The reverse side of the Great Seal is officially described (page 8) as follows:
The reverse, sometimes referred to as the spiritual side of the seal, contains the 13-step pyramid with the year 1776 in Roman numerals on the base. At the summit of the pyramid is the Eye of Providence in a triangle surrounded by a Glory (rays of light) and above it appears the motto Annuit Coeptis. Along the lower circumference of the design appear the words Novus Ordo Seclorum, heralding the beginning of the new American era in 1776.

Note the reference to the "Glory" radiating from the "Eye of Providence." There are many examples of this symbol in Christian Churches, such as the image on the right from Kansas Wesleyan University, or this stained glass window from Brophy College Prep. Oddly, there are many Christians who have lost their historical moorings to such an extent as to assert that the Eye in the Triangle is primarily an occultic symbol that has infected Christian iconography. This is a reversal of proper historic understanding. Occultists are, to a large extent, merely bad (spiritually blind) copiers. They misuse many Christian symbols, just as they misuse Scriptures, because they somehow sense that that is where the true spiritual power lies. The Triangle itself is an ancient Christian symbol of the Trinity, (cf. The Shield of the Blessed Trinity), and the Eye in the Triangle first appeared as a Christian symbol of the Omniscient Trinity no later than the seventeenth century, about a hundred years before it was adopted by occultists. The Eye in the Triangle is simply another reiteration of the interplay of Three and One that marks the Great Seal, the foundation of the United States, and the true doctrine of the Triune God revealed in Christianity.

The unfinished pyramid is generally taken as refering to the country as a work-in-progress, overseen by God. This then links to the Hebrew alphabet and the structure of the Wheel. The name of the Sixteenth Letter (Ayin) denotes the Eye (cf. The Eyes of God). It is the basis of the themes of Genesis 16 where the divine title "The God Who Sees" is revealed. It also manifests with perfect clarity in the Book of Zechariah (Spoke 16, Cycle 2) where the Stone with Seven Eyes is revealed and the rebuilding of the Temple of God is prophesied. All of this comes together in the date inscribed at the base of the unfinished pyramid surmounted by the Eye of Providence.

Each group of three Roman numerals is a multiple of 16, the ordinal value of Ayin (Eye). The triplets are divided between the doubled letters: MDC CLX XVI: This then means that the date 1776 naturally divides into multiples of powers of Ten when written in Roman numerical letters:
The Number 111 is the value of the name of the first letter (Aleph), which is literally God's Initial - the first letter of (Elohim, God) - which He designed to reflect His triune nature in 1 = A = Aleph = 111 (if we allow a little mathematipoetic license). This all conspires to declare 1776 as the Eye of God:
This then integrates with the Creation Holograph and the first declaration of Vision from God - a metaphoric reference to the Eye of God - in the Bible, Genesis 1:4:
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
The sum of these words in Hebrew is exactly 1776. It is a very significant portion of the Creation Holograph (cf. The First Day). Is it possible to fail to see the true desitiny of the United States of America as the witness to God's Light in Christ? Her birth is marke by the numbers of His Name and His great Work of Creation!
This association between the Eye, the Number 16, and the Number 1776 has been distributed over the entire planet on the back of the American One Dollar Bill. Obviously, any meaning found here must be attributed to the Mind of God since mere men could never control their destiny sufficiently to integrate the date of a national revolution with the order and meaning of the Hebrew Alphabet as revealed in Scripture!

These numbers can be rearranged to reveal the values of the names of (YHVH, The LORD) and (Iesous, Jesus):

The integration of these names with the Divine Prologue and the The First Day Holographs is discussed in the Jesus and YHVH article. The two largest factors - 13 and - are both hexagonal Star numbers, which God used as the basis of the Creation Holograph. This means that the Great Seal of the United States of America and the combined alphanumeric structure of Genesis 1 and John 1 conspire to reveal the names of the Creator, the true Founder of America and Author of Scripture, the Lord God Almighty! Praise His Holy Name now and forever!
Rearranging the factors again now integrates these the Number 23088 with the Greek word for Genesis (with the definite article) and the Hebrew word for Jubile (the year of Release). Note the pattern of N x 10N+1 :

The Genesis of the Jubile! Note that the Jubile happened every fifty years, and that this number now marks the number of the United States. Let us pray this be the destiny of the USA. Amen!
Finally, it is also very intriguing that John 1:1 is highly reminescent of the unfinished pyramid, since it forms the trapezoidal basis of the triangular form of Genesis 1.1 (shown here ascending rather than descending to correspond with the Seal):

In pagan tradition, the reign of the Oak King begins on winter solstice and ends on summer solstice. The other half of the year is ruled by the 'Holly King'. (The Oak-Holly duality has a very interesting parallel to the Arnie-Bush duality.) It turns out that the peak of the Oak King's strength is said to come at 'Beltane' or May Day, which is May 1... the very day Schwarzenegger the 'Oak King' went to Israel! Beltane is also when the Holly King - or 'Shrub/Bush King' - is in its weakest state... perfectly reflected by the potentially deadly political mess Bush now finds himself in.
In the Time Code article I emphasized that the 'rise of Schwarzenegger/Oak King' last year on August 6 was designed to coincide with the heliacal/dawn rising of Sirius and/or the alignment of the historical 'Paris axis' (Champs Elysees) with the angle of the sunset (which also matches the angle of the rising point of Sirius). And based on this I pinpointed the time around May 8 as a key period for Arnie and associated 'antichristic' themes because ~May 8 is another day that produces the same street-sunset alignment in Paris. It was something of an anti-8/6 point (i.e. the 'reversal/opposition' theme). It is the date 'May 1', however, that carries the same but greater symbolic significance.
In addition to the Oak-King peak connection, May 1/May Day/Beltane represents the 'opposite' of New Year, as we learn:
There are four great festivals of the Pagan Celtic year and the modern Witch's calendar, as well. The two greatest of these are Halloween (the beginning of winter) and May Day (the beginning of summer). Being opposite each other on the wheel of the year, they separate the year into halves. Halloween (also called Samhain) is the Celtic New Year...
What this means is that May 1 symbolically signifies the opposite point of August 6 in that the latter, viewed as the date of Sirius heliacal rising, would mark the New Year's Day as per ancient Egyptian tradition! So, while the 'Paris axis' Solar/Sirian alignment gives us ~May 8 as the 'anti-8/6' date, the combination of ancient Egyptian and Celtic traditions makes May 1 a more effective 'anti-8/6' day - and it was on that very day (May 1/2) that Schwarzenegger paid a visit to the biblical land of Israel.
The Lucifer/Venus theme that figures prominently in the 'Time Code' is also present here since the term 'Beltane' (= May Day/May 1) means 'Bel-fire', or 'the fire of Bel' (the Celtic god of light). Bel is the Celtic Lucifer, the 'light bearer'.
Lucifer/Bel also corresponds to Prometheus, the Greek god who gave fire to mankind. (Beltane is considered the 'day of fire'.) This then leads to the following... creepy connections.
The event that shocked people around the world, associated with the other already-unfolding shocking development, the prisoner abuse scandal, was the release of a video on the internet (May 11) showing the beheading of a 26-year old American named Nick Berg in Iraq . He owned a communication tower maintenance company called Prometheus Methods Tower Service Inc. So 'Prometheus' pops up here again. Now add this to the coincidence: the Beltane/May Day festival originally involved animal and even human sacrifices. We learn:
Supposedly, animal sacrifices would be made each Beltane to ensure the fertility of their crops, however, every five years the Highland Celts would sacrifice humans, the numbers being made up of convicted criminals and prisoners of war.
Berg was a 'prisoner of war' indeed... So, this does smell like a 'Beltane ritual' that interacts with Schwarzenneger's Oak King ritual on Beltane/May Day.
The 'Tower' part of Berg's job/company is also suspiciously relevant. Mary Magdalene, as a form of Venus-Isis/Sirius-Lucifer, is very much part of the Time Code themes underlying this period of May and beyond. And the name 'Magdalene' can denote... 'tower'. In particular it is relatable to the Tower of Babel as explained in the article.
The Babel tower in the Bible represents mankind working as one using one language. God, seeing this, went down to earth and confused man's language - as a result they could no longer communicate well with each other. So the Tower of Babel has much to do with the idea of 'communication', just as Nick Berg's job specifically involved communication towers.
Furthermore, the idea of decapitation is something very much attached to John the Baptist (this is how his life ended). And as mentioned earlier John is often considered the Christian version of the Oak King (= Arnie) and his feast day (June 24) marks/represents the summer solstice which in early ancient Egyptian times coincided with Sirius' heliacal rising and thus also with New Year's Day. In other words, John - and through him Berg - is very much linked to the 'antichristic' Aug. 6 date and conceptually an 'opposite' of Beltane/May Day!
The date of the gruesome video's posting, May 11, is also suggestive in that there are exactly 322 days from the last John the Baptist day (June 24, '03) to May 11, '04. You may recall that '322' is the numerical signature of Skull and Bones, the Yale secret society to which both Bush and John Kerry belong. The 'Shock & Awe' event of 2003 - i.e. the US air assault on Iraq - began on March 22/23 (i.e. 3/22 => '322'). And we had this year's 'Shock & Awe', i.e. the decapitation video, also coming with the signature number...

Según informó la Administración de Obama, el cuerpo de Bin Laden fue arrojado al mar tras comprobar, mediante pruebas de ADN, que efectivamente se trataba del fugitivo. Más tarde generaría polémica la decisión de no hacer públicas las fotografías y muestras de ADN que Estados Unidos decía tener.[11]
La operación en sí tampoco estuvo exenta de polémica. Numerosas organizaciones, entre ellas Amnistía Internacional denunciaron la ilegalidad de la operación y las implicaciones éticas que esta acarreaba, como el haber asesinado a Osama bin Laden en vez de haberle capturado con vida aun cuando este estaba desarmado.[12]
Los servicios secretos de Estados Unidos seguían la pista del kuwaití Abu Ahmmad desde 2007[13] cuyo seudónimo había sido revelado por detenidos de la cárcel de Guantánamo como uno de los hombres de confianza de Bin Laden. Tras unos meses de investigación a comienzos de 2011 fue cuando la inteligencia estadounidense consideró seriamente la teoría de que Bin Laden se encontraba en ese país. Desde entonces, el presidente Barack Obama mantuvo cinco reuniones (desde mediados de marzo hasta finales de abril) con miembros del Consejo de Seguridad Nacional para decidir la estrategia y perfilar un plan.[14]
Los dos últimos encuentros tuvieron lugar el 19 y el 28 de abril de 2011. Al día siguiente, el viernes 29, el presidente Obama dio la orden para iniciar la misión, que tenía la finalidad de capturar al líder de Al Qaeda.
Sobre la 1:00 de la madrugada del 2 de mayo (hora local de Pakistán, 20:00 h. del 1 de mayo UTC), un pequeño grupo de comandos de élite del SEAL estadounidense condujo la operación, en la que, tras un intercambio de fuego, se hizo con el cuerpo del terrorista en la localidad de Abbottabad, al norte del país.[15]
La fuerza de asalto estuvo en tierra menos de 40 minutos y la operación estuvo supervisada en tiempo real por el director de la CIA, Leon Panetta, y otros altos cargos de los servicios de Inteligencia desde una sala de conferencias en la sede de la CIA, en Langley (Virginia) según los responsables de la operación.

En la misma murieron cinco personas, incluido Bin Laden: cuatro hombres y una mujer, se confirmó que esa mujer era su esposa, según fuentes de la administración norteamericana. El diario The Washington Post indicó que durante el ataque se perdió un helicóptero estadounidense debido a un fallo mecánico. "El helicóptero fue destruido por la tripulación", aseguró un oficial estadounidense. El propio Obama aseguró que ningún militar estadounidense falleció ni resultó herido.
Fuentes del Congreso informadas por la Casa Blanca y citadas por los medios estadounidenses indicaron que Bin Laden murió de un disparo en la cabeza, concretamente en el ojo izquierdo, mientras se resistía con armas a su captura.[16] Horas después, se informó de que las autoridades estadounidenses no tenían intención de capturar vivo a Bin Laden, según manifestaron a las agencias de prensa miembros de la seguridad nacional de EE UU.[17] En un primer momento, fuentes oficiales estadounidenses informaron de que Bin Laden habría utilizado a su esposa como escudo humano en el momento de ser abatido, y por eso ella también habría muerto.[18]

Sin embargo, según informaciones posteriores también facilitadas por la administración estadounidense, Bin Laden no estaba armado al ser abatido ni tampoco usó a una mujer como escudo humano,[19] pero si lo estaba la mujer que intentó protegerlo; la cual disparó a los comandos estadounidenses y por eso fue herida en una pierna (pero no resultó muerta como se informó al principio).[20] Según el artículo 8, 2, b), vi del Estatuto de Roma de la Corte Penal Internacional, que no ha sido ratificado por Estados Unidos, es un crimen de guerra«causar la muerte o lesiones a un enemigo que haya depuesto las armas o que, al no tener medios para defenderse, se haya rendido a discreción».[21]
El recinto en el que fue localizado Bin Laden se encontraba en un enclave turístico a poco más de una hora en coche de Islamabad. El asalto al complejo, de tres plantas, se realizó con helicópteros. El edificio en cuestión era ocho veces más grande que las casas cercanas; tenía muros de entre 3,6 y 5,5 metros de altura coronados por alambre de espino. La vivienda contaba con muros internos y dos puertas de seguridad que restringían el acceso. Pocas de las ventanas daban para el exterior y la terraza contaba con un muro de 2,1 metros de alto. La propiedad estaba valorada en aproximadamente un millón de dólares pero no disponía de teléfono ni servicio de Internet.
Dentro vivían tres familias, incluido Bin Laden. En la operación antiterrorista, murieron con él un hijo mayor de edad, una mujer no identificada y dos hombres, identificados como un correo de Al Qaeda -uno de los pocos en los que confíaba Bin Laden, el que le mantenía en contacto con el exterior- y su hermano.
