I went to Cuba out of NY right when the flights started(shortly after Thanksgiving and [unrelated] Fidel's death). Awesome to see the old, janky cars, barely held together. Many 40's and 50's American cars, some ~70's Soviet cars, and a smattering of random -crap- from 1970-2005 or so. A small handful of new cars but they were few and far between. Hard to get parts there, so everything was hob-knobbed together. We met a guy who returns pistons on a lathe for a living. Pretty wild place, car wise.
Surely many of you did not know, but there is a huge number of retro cars in Cuba. Modern cars are very rare in this country. I advise you to read this article about Why do Cubans have Retro cars? Since I love vintage cars, now I want to go to Cuba to see all this beauty.
