The war on nail fungal cures have heated up literally. The emerging solution to the fungal dilemma are laser toenail fungus remedies. The objective is to get rid of the fungus without damaging nail and surrounding skin; with no drugs or surgery needed. Two methods of laser toenail fungus remedies are awaiting FDA approval. First method is using laser, pass through the nails and instantly killing the fungus. This treatment last for thirty minutes, and there is no need for recovery period. Recent studies by the manufacturer of the laser equipment say that the success rate is eighty eight percent.
As much as it is believed to be effective, effects can only be seen by the growth of the new nail. This is a one time treatment, and is usually supplemented by a topical solution or laquer. The second device use two discrete near-infrared wavelength light at low power, so no heat is produced. In clinical trials, seventy six percent of patients have shown significant improvements on their conditions, and signs of drop of fungal culture in nails
Kerassentials is seventy four percent after just two treatments. This is a once a month procedure for a period of four consecutive months. The goal of the device is to eliminate the fungus via light-inactivation effect, this prevents damaging the tissues of nails and skin.
Both devices were approved by FDA in other medical fields such as in dental, plastic surgery and dermatological procedures. Since the use of these medical apparatus for nail fungal infection is relatively new, both FDA and the medical community are still waiting for the long term effects of the trials in effectiveness of completely eliminating of the fungi, re-infection, and if there is any adverse effect in the long run. What is seen as the biggest risk is the cost of the laser toenail fungus remedies. Cost of the one time treatment is over a thousand dollars. Manufacturers of the two discrete near-infrared wavelength light equipment has not set any price on their procedure.
