13番 is a micro-budget slasher with a familiar Scream-esque synopsis, but director Deborah Voorhees has managed to create something that feels like a fan film with a purpose 13番. With a cast made up of franchise alumni, the film is a fun and engaging love letter to horror 13番. Come play in 13番, you’ll find what you want in 13番.
It’s not as meta or engaging as films like Wes Craven’s seminal New Nightmare, nor is it as bonkers as Toxic Tutu (brilliantly funny with the perfect offbeat ending). The premise may feel a little tired at times, but that doesn’t detract from its charm and its intimate knowledge of horror. It’s a swiftly paced, bloody good time that will please both Friday the 13th fans and hardcore horror hounds alike.
The film’s story takes place in 2021, and focuses on a crazed fan of the Friday the 13th series who stalks and kills actresses from the original movies. This is because he is unable to separate the characters in the films from their real-life counterparts.
He even seems to have no problem stealing costumes and makeup from the actors in the films, which makes him seem all the more crazed and sleazy. It’s a lot of fun, and I hope there are many more films in the future that feature this fan’s obsession with his favorite horror franchise.
A ML-based procedure for automatic classification and hazard prediction of alluvial (torrential) fans was developed based on morphological parameters obtained by a combination of different ML methods. The accuracy of the resulting DEMs was evaluated in 14 case studies of Slovenian torrential fans, comparing the results of the ML model with a hybrid Euler graph ML method. In addition, the accuracy of the derived ground control points was assessed by determining the grid size that ensured that the Hav error remained less than 5% in all 14 cases.
As a bonus, the study also determined the best combinations of geomorphometric parameters that allowed effective application of the ML model to predict the safety of alluvial fans. This includes the ellipsoid height of the hinterland, the Melton ruggedness number of the catchment upstream of the fan, the slope of the hinterland, and the relationship between the fans and the hinterland.
The resulting DEMs are accurate enough to be used for assessing the hazard of the fans and for providing a visualisation of the landslide hazards. Moreover, the ML model can be used to predict the hazard of other alluvial fans as well, using the same parameters.
It’s also important to note that the ML models can be easily adapted to other morphological parameters of the fans, allowing for more detailed and specific hazard predictions. The ML model can be a useful tool for reducing the number of field surveys that must be conducted by ensuring a faster and more effective way to classify alluvial fans.
The movie was written by Deborah Voorhees and Joel Paul Reisig and directed by Voorhees, who is one of the most famous female victims in the Friday the 13th series. It was funded by a crowdfunding campaign, and featured numerous fan actors.
