In churches, the four signs of the Zodiac often reoccur and are associated with ‘Judgment Day’ and the ‘End of Times’
Jesus portrayed at the Last Judgment can often be found in the Tympanium above the entrance of churches and cathedrals. Notice, the lion (Leo) on the left, the bull on the right (Taurus), the angel on the left (Aquarius) and the eagle on the right ( Scorpio).
The four evangelists Luke, John, Mathew and Mark likewise have been associated with these four Zodiac signs as well:

Winter Solstice Galactic Alignment of the Sun with the Galactic Equator

On Earth, the River Nile was the reflection of this great river in the sky, in accordance with the Hermetic principle "as above, so below." Herschel's earliest ingenious research has demonstrated that all of the pyramids along the river Nile represent constellations along the Milky Way, not just Orion! There are more than 50 pyramids in total, and their true meaning can only be deciphered when one considers the whole of Egypt.
During a Great Celestial Conjunction, the Sun crosses that great river in the sky, the Milky Way. Egyptologists explain that the solar God Ra (and Horus) required a boat because they sailed the Heavens from sunrise in the East to sunset in the West. At night, Ra travelled the Netherworld to be reborn in the morning at sunrise. Egyptologists reject the idea that the Egyptians understood the Precession of the Equinoxes and that the Sun also sojourns along the zodiac in a 26,000 year journey corresponding with the Precession Cycle.
In the Book of the Gates, the travel of the Sun at night along with the deceased pharaoh into the Netherworld is described. The Sun enters the Netherworld in the first hour just after sunset to be reborn in the morning at sunrise after a twelve hour nocturnal journey. There are many parallels, however, with the precessional journey of the Sun along the twelve signs of the zodiac to be discovered in the Book of the Gates. The 12 hours in the Book of Gates are structured into four groups of three hours, denoting a cross in the face of the clock. In the 12th hour Nun raises the solar barque with the scarab beetle of the Sun God from the primeval waters (Milky Way?), this is the hour of the rebirth of the Sun.

During Ra's travel through all of the twelve signs of the zodiac in the precession cycle, he will be requiring a boat to twice cross that great river in the sky, the Milky Way! It is probably the only reason why the Egyptian deities required a Sun barque in the first place. Boats are used to cross waters, not skies, so it was used not for their nightly ecliptic travel from East to West through the Netherworld, but for their travels along the zodiac in the precession cycle. It is during this journey that the Sun would be required to cross the waters of the Milky Way at least twice. The Book of the Gates may therefore have been misinterpreted by Egyptologists as the nocturnal journey of the Sun simply because they reject the idea that the Egyptians understood Precession! Keep in mind that only twice per year on the equinox the day and night will be exactly 12 hours in length. It is therefore far more logical that the 12 hours in the Book of the Gates are in fact the 12 zodiacal Ages of the Precession Cycle.
Pharaohs in ancient Egypt were buried with their arms crossed holding Ankhs in their hands. This posture of the deceased pharaoh can be found on sarcophagus and in statues throughout Egypt. The Ankh represents a cross symbol.

Since the Greek inherited much of their wisdom from the Egyptians, it's more than reasonable to suspect that the gate or portal mentioned in the Book of the Gates through which the pharaoh enters the Netherworld is, in fact, the Gate of God that the Greek writer Macrobius writes about. The Gate of God was also called the Golden Gate, while the Gate of Men was called the Silver Gate. The very same Egyptian cross symbolism used by the pharaohs associated with the Golden and Silver gates of the soul (and the Sun) can still be recognized in the coat of arms of the Vatican, consisting of two crossed keys; one Golden, one Silver.

The Golden Gate is the ecliptic Milky Way crossing at the Scorpio-Sagittarius nexus on the zodiac while the Silver Gate is the Milky Way ecliptic crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus. The Silver Gate was represented by the horns of Isis and the associated bull Taurus.
The Silver Gate is also clearly depicted in the Narmer Palette (3100 BC) named after the Egyptian pharaoh. The Narmer Palette shows the celestial goddess bull Bat (Taurus) with her horns bent over pointing exactly to the place of the rebirth of the Sun, the Silver Gate. The two cow's heads on top of the palette also represent Bat. In-between the two cow goddesses a hieroglyph is depicted representing the rising of the Sun in between two mountains on the horizon. It's a hieroglyph that is very similar to the Akhet hieroglyph with the same significance.

Bat was the goddess of the Milky Way considered to be a pool of Bat's cow milk. Bat was also the goddess of the human soul, the "Ba" that incarnated into human life form. Since the soul incarnated into human life passing through the Silver Gate (crossing of Milky Way and ecliptic), it's not surprising that Bat was both the goddess of the Milky Way and the human soul. Ba is a derivative of Bat, whereas "Ka" represents the human light-body. "Mer" represents the light of the Egyptian light-body-soul complex, the "Mer-Ka-Ba." Bat was also called the "Ba of Two Faces." Egyptologists are in the dark about her name and don't seem to understand that she was called this way, because there are actually two portals both to and from the Netherworld for the Ba to descend into the physical plane (Silver Gate) and ascend from the physical plane (Golden Gate). Both Hathor, Isis and Bat are all cow goddesses and Egyptologists have often pointed out the similarities between these goddesses depicted with cow-horns suspecting that they may have the same origins...they all represent the Silver Gate.
At the bottom of the Narmar palette in-between the horns of the bull, the very same hieroglyph is depicted as the one shown between two Bat bulls on top of the palette. This Akhet-like hieroglyph symbolises the rising Sun on the horizon.

On the other side of the Narmer palette two identical men, hence suggesting twins are depicted. They are both looking over their shoulders to a particular square over the left man’s shoulder. We surmise that the twins represent Gemini which would make sense since the actual ecliptic Milky Way crossing of the Silver Gate occurs in 5° Gemini (sidereal zodiac) and the square could therefore be suggesting the Silver Gate.

The author Audrey of the website "Ancient Egypt" writes while referring to the Narmar Palette: "They present an overview of the astronomical event which occurred on September 21st in 4468BCE, when the Autumn (Fall) Equinox of the Sun was in conjunction with the Milky Way."
At the Autumnal Equinox, the Sun was indeed at the Milky Way, however at the Golden Gate. At the Vernal Equinox of 4468 BC, the Sun resided at the Silver Gate. The author (Audrey) does not seem to realise that this moment represented a Great Celestial Conjunction when the equinox axis (Vernal and Fall) aligned with the Galactic Equator and the Sun resided at the Gates of the Gods.
Instead, while interpreting the hieroglyphs of the 10 decapitated figures near the Solar Barque, he writes quote, "The full meaning of the hieroglyph can therefore be interpreted as 'the Sun at a sacred gateway, opening or portal'..."
While Hathor, Isis and Bat are all cow goddesses, Egyptologists have often pointed out the similarities between these goddesses depicted with cow-horns suspecting that they may have the same origins. . . .
We suggest that they all represent the Silver Gate.
There is an even older Egyptian goddess that later was associated with Isis and Hathor. Her name is Serket and she was the deification of the scorpion goddess who healed stings and bites. Eventually, Serket was associated with Isis and she was said to be just an aspect of Isis. Serket and Isis can therefore be regarded as the ‘Ba of Two Faces’. While Isis represents the Silver Gate at the Gemini-Taurus nexus, Serket is her counterpart and she represents the Golden Gate at the Scorpio-Sagittarius nexus. This is why she’s wearing the scorpion on her head while she joined Ra in his barque on his journey around the zodiac in a Great Year.

The sacred Egyptian scarab beetle is a metaphor for the Sun in the precession cycle whereas the dung ball represents the Sun. The scarab beetle rolls its dung ball with his hind legs backwards, symbolizing the backward motion of the Sun through the zodiac in the precession cycle. Since the scarab beetle has many similarities with a scorpion, we surmise that Serket and the scarab beetle both represent the Golden Gate in Egyptian mythology.

Ankh and Djed pillar
The Ankh and Djed pillars are the quintessential symbols that represent the ecliptic and Milky Way crossing par excellence.

The Djed pillar represents the Milky Way, the Tree of Life and Axis Mundi. The Axis Mundi was represented in ancient times as a rope or a ladder into the skies (Jacobs’s ladder), by a pillar or a staff. The Raising of the Djed pillar is the perfect Egyptian metaphor that explains how the Earth Cross becomes conjunct with the Galactic Cross. While the Earth Cross rotates against the backdrop of the fixated Galactic Cross, motion is relative and could also be expressed in reverse terms where it appears that the Galactic Cross (Djed Pillar) aligns with the Earth Cross. In other words how the Galactic Equator becomes perpendicular to either the equinox or the solstice axis and forms a cross. This I believe is what ‘Raising the Djed pillar’ in Egyptian mythology is expressing.

The Ankh represents the Sun on the crossing of the Milky Way and ecliptic. It’s a symbol that may have developed from the Shen symbol (O|) into the Ankh (O|-). In the picture below on the left the crossing of ecliptic and Milky Way is expressed at the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus since the scarab beetle occurs inside the Ankh. In the picture in the centre we see the Djed Pillar with the solar disk in between the horns of Taurus. It represents the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Gemini-Taurus nexus. In the picture on the right we see the Djed pillar with the Ankh on top while the Ankh is holding the solar disk.

In the picture below the Ankh crosses are held in cross form to explain their meaning. They represent the two crossings of the ecliptic and the Milky Way. Pharaohs as the living Horus where buried with the flail and sceptre held in the same posture since their soul would travel to the Golden Gate or Gate of Gods after dead. The Golden Gate is the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Sagittarius - Scorpio nexus. The Silver Gate or Gate of Man on the other hand represents the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way near the Gemini -Taurus nexus. The Egyptians believed that the soul of man incarnated through this gate into the physical realm.

The fact that the crossed arms are really mend to represent a cross I believe is demonstrated by sarcophaguses that show the pharaoh with crossed arms along with a big X cross depicted on his chest.

In the picture below we see two other examples that demonstrate that the cross must be associated with the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way. The statue on the right has his arms crossed while he’s holding an Ankh (Sun on the Milky Way) in one hand and a Djed Pillar (Milky Way) in the other hand. On the left we see the decoration on the inside of a sarcophagus depicting Horus with a big X cross on his chest. Horus (as the Sun) is fully encircled by a rattlesnake representing the ecliptic.

The following artefact is truly remarkable and may be regarded as proof that the Egyptian understood the Great Celestial Conjunction in terms of crosses. The eight pointed cross that we identified in the Dendera Zodiac is displayed here together with two of the most sacred symbols of Egypt, the symbols that must be associated with the crossing of the ecliptic and Milky Way where the Sun resides at the equinoxes and/or solstices of a Great Celestial Conjunction. The Ankh and Djed pillar are placed on what may be a barque. Egyptian deities in particular those that were associated with the Sun (Ra, Horus) were often placed inside a barque because the Sun while travelling along the ecliptic in a Great Year (precession), needs a ferry to cross the Milky Way twice. The fact that these three symbols, Ankh, Djed pillar and 8 pointed cross appear together in one artefact is no coincidence and shows that these three symbols belong together.

Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis and it was said that his name meant ‘Horus who rules with two eyes’. His white right eye represented the Sun while his left black eye represented the moon. Horus lost his left eye in a fight with his wicked uncle Set, the brother of this father Osiris. Horus wanted to avenge Seth's murder of his father but in the fight Seth tore out Horus his eye. The eyes were buried and Lotus flowers grew from his eyes. Horus was finally cured by Hathor. Could the eyes of Horus be another metaphor for the two crossings of the ecliptic and Milky Way?

Notice the falcon on the left and the cobra to the right of the Eye of Horus. The cobra represents the ecliptic. The blue-grey part of the eye with the ‘teardrop’ underneath the eye looks very similar to the Ankh symbol. Why was the teardrop added to the Eye of Horus?

The Sun rises in the East only at equinoxes, could the pyramid texts therefore be speaking of the equinox alignment with the ‘Eye of Horus’, the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing?
The ‘Eye of Horus’ was also seen on images of his mother Hathor and hence Hathor was associated with the Eye of Horus as well. We’ve demonstrated that Isis-Hathor must be equated with the ecliptic Milky Way crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus. In addition the Egyptians believed that the Eye of Horus assisted in rebirth. The Eye of Horus is therefore probably just another metaphor for the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing. In the Book of the Dead the Eye of Horus appears on top of the pillar next to the bull with the solar disk between the horns with the Eye of Horus.

The following decoration appears on a sarcophagus and contains a lot of symbolism concerning the ecliptic-Milky Way crossings combined in one picture (see picture below). First of all we see Horus with the solar disk on his head seated on his throne. He’s depicted twice once facing east once facing west, the cardinal directions of the equinox sun. Seated on his throne he may represent the Sun on the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing when the Sun resides in its most sacred place in a precession cycle; the Sun is put on his throne so to speak. Horus is depicted twice on this throne because there are two ecliptic-Milky Way crossings on the Galactic Equator, one is the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus, the other the Gemini-Taurus nexus. Both crossings appear on opposite sides of the Galactic Equator and may be expressed by the fact that the two Horuses are sitting back to back. Underneath each of the thrones the eye of Horus is depicted because as we have demonstrated above the eye of Horus is yet another metaphor for the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing.
In the centre we see the scarab beetle, symbolizing both the precessing Sun as well as the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus. Right below the scarab beetle we see a winged version of Isis. Isis-Hathor must be associated with the ecliptic-Milky Way crossing at the Gemini-Taurus nexus.
Finally four Ankhs are depicted around the scarab beetle; the four Ankhs in this decoration are most likely expressing the fact that four times in a precession cycle the Sun resides on the Milky Way, at the vernal equinox, fall equinox, summer solstice and winter solstice. These four moments define the four Great Celestial Conjunctions in a Great Year.

Greek Cross
The Greek cross predates the Christian Cross and still contains the esoteric knowledge of the Great Celestial Conjunctions in the Great Year. This cross has nothing to do with the crucifixion of Christ because it was used by the Greek long before Christ was born. Christianity later adopted the Calvery Cross as its sacred symbol and the cross association with the original ancient symbolism of the Great Celestial Conjunctions and the Great Year was gradually lost. The Catholic Church has done everything within its power to eradicate these pagan roots of the cross and its original meaning but traces of the pagan roots of the new religion of the Age of Pisces can still be found in the ancient customs, symbols and artefacts of the Church. We will discuss the Church Crosses in the next paragraph and demonstrate that the ancient esoteric cross associations with the Great Year are not lost but preserved even within the Catholic Church!

The Greek zodiac cross below encodes knowledge of the Great Celestial Conjunctions and precession.
Greek zodiac cross (Notice the 8 pointed cross in the centre)
First of all notice the eight-spoked wheel in the centre of the Greek cross; it’s the symbol of the Great Celestial Conjunction. The eight spoked wheel represents the zodiac wheel with the Earth Cross (the cross formed by the equinoxes and solstices) and the Galactic Cross superimposed. It is the zodiac wheel that spins during a precession cycle denoting the Earth Cross that rotates against the backdrop of the static Galactic Cross.
The Greek cross contains the 12 signs of the zodiac arranged in such a way that they encode the Great Celestial Conjunction of era-2012. From the centre of the cross there are three groups of zodiac signs in concentric rings around the centre. In astrology these three groups are called the ‘fixed signs’, the ‘cardinal signs’ and the ‘mutable signs’. In the zodiac these 3 groups form 3 crosses and that’s why they are displayed on the Greek Cross as three separate crosses as well. This is achieved by the way these signs are distributed over the Greek Cross.
The first ring (closest to the centre) contains the cardinal signs (from the first sign on the right (Aries) in counter clockwise direction):

- Libra
- Capricorn
These four cardinal signs in the Tropical Zodiac determine the equinoxes and solstices! By definition the ‘first point’ of Aries defines the spring equinox, the first point in Cancer the summer solstice, the first point of Libra the autumn equinox and the first point of Capricorn the winter solstice.
The second ring (in the middle) contains the fixed signs (from the first sign on the right (Leo) in counter clockwise direction):

These are the four signs of the zodiac that since ancient times are associated with the Galactic Cross. The third ring contains the mutable signs (from the first sign on the right (Sagittarius) in counter clockwise direction):

- Pisces
- Gemini
- Virgo
The signs of the third ring (outer ring) are the signs of the true Galactic Cross where the Milky Way and the ecliptic intersect. The Galactic Cross is defined by 5° Gemini, 5° Pisces, 5° Sagittarius and 5° Virgo in the sidereal zodiac.
Notice the snake or Ouroborous (a snake biting its own tail) in the Greek cross. The Ouroborous bites its own tail symbolising the cyclic nature of time in general and precession in particular. The snake represents the ecliptic, hence the path the Sun travels both in a solar year and a Platonic Year as well. The Ouroborous connects all the signs in the Greek zodiac cross in a particular order because it runs through the signs from tail to head in a well defined sequence. This sequence is the sequence the Sun passes through the signs in the precession cycle in reverse motion. While the Sun moves in forward direction through the signs of the zodiac in a solar year, it passes through these signs in opposite direction during the precession cycle.
The snake connects the signs of the Tropical Zodiac that are associated with the equinoxes/solstices with the signs associated with the nexuses of the Galactic Cross. The equinoxes and solstices in the Greek cross and their association with the Galactic Cross nexuses are such that they seem to encode the current Great Celestial Conjunction (era-2012) when:
- The sun resides in the Pisces-Aquarius nexus on the spring equinox.
- The sun resides in the Gemini-Cancer nexus on the summer solstice
- The sun resides in the Virgo-Leo nexus on the autumn equinox
- The sun resides in the Sagittarius-Scorpio nexus on the winter solstice

The Ouroborous of the Greek cross connects the signs of the zodiac
such that the current Great Celestial Conjunction (era-2012) is encoded.
If the Greek zodiac cross really encodes the current Great Celestial Conjunction can not be proven beyond any reasonable doubt because the Ouroborous follows the expected sequence order of the zodiac signs such that the signs of the three groups are automatically arranged in the four triplets as indicated in the table above.
Church crosses
Catholic churches are the gathering places of the congregations and the church is the prime religious symbol of Christianity. Few believers are aware of the fact that these church buildings contain pagan elements that can be traced back to ancient Egypt. When a Christian enters the house of his father the first religious ritual that he’s expected to perform is to make the cross sign with the Holy Water with the words ‘In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen’. Most likely the believer does not realise that Amen stands for Amen-Ra or Amen-Re the Sun God of ancient Egypt! I suggest that the cross sign he makes represents the cross of the zodiac and not Christ’s cross!
The Holy Water is contained in a font at the entrance of the church under the steeple. Egyptian temples had sacred pools that were used in purification rituals akin to Baptism. According to Christian teachings, the child will be purified from the sins commit by the parents during the conception of the child.
The ceiling of the entrance (under the steeple) is often adorned with the ‘All seeing eye of God’. The ‘All seeing eye of God’ is copied from the Egyptian ‘All seeing eye of Horus’!

The ‘All seeing Eye’ also occurs on the American Seal and on the dollar bill on the keystone of the pyramid! The founding fathers of the USA were freemasons who understood the significance of these ancient Egyptian symbols.
The church steeple itself has a relation with the ancient Egyptian custom to erect obelisks as tokens of Sun worship and appraisal of the Sun God Amen-Ra. Both in shape and length the church’s steeple and the obelisk have much in common and may explain why the steeple was given a spire to reflect the pyramidal top of the obelisk. The earliest Gothic Cathedrals (Chartres) were given pyramidal shaped spires such as the twelfth-century south tower spire.
On top of the church spire we find the wind vane that aligns with the direction of the wind. There’s a fixed cross that is aligned with the cardinal directions such that the direction of the wind can be determined. Many churches have wind vanes with 8 pointed crosses. In many cases these crosses consist of two separate 4 pointed crosses that are superimposed! One could argue that these 8 pointed crosses contain the four cardinal directions including the directions in between (NNE, NNW, SSE and SSW) but I suggest that the wind vane may have a deeper esoteric meaning! Placed on top of the church’s spire (representing a giant sun worshiping obelisk) the wind vane demonstrates how the axis of the solstice and equinox (the cock) can rotate against the backdrop of a fixed cross (the cross of the cardinal directions). It’s a metaphor for the rotation of the Earth Cross against the backdrop of the Galactic Cross. The wind vane esoterically also stands for alignment, the alignment of the vane with the wind.
Wind vanes found on churches, none of them are very useful since the fixed cross is placed vertical. The one of the right is a real wind vane! Notice how the ‘wind vanes’ are composed of two different four pointed crosses that are superimposed!
At the Vatican this understanding of the two crosses is displayed in a compelling way. At Saint Peter’s Square we find the obelisk at the centre of the square. Around the obelisk we find two circles. The inner circle contains a 4 pointed cross. The outer circle contains an 8 pointed cross. The obelisk at the centre of Saint Peter’s Square represents the Sun. The rotating Earth Cross (inner circle) is displayed here against the backdrop of the 8 pointed cross. The outer circle therefore represents the superimposed crosses of the Earth Cross and Galactic Cross.
The lines of the crosses are set in travertine among the cobblestones of the Plaza. In 1817 circular stones were set to mark the tip of the obelisks shadow at noon making the obelisk a giant sundial gnomon with Saint Peter’s square perfectly aligned to the cardinal directions!

When the Pope gives his blessings to the public at St Peter’s square during the morning service at Easter, he’s facing directly into the equinox Sun which rises due East! The celebration of Easter is associated with the vernal equinox and has pagan roots. Its roots can be traced back to ancient Babylonian myths concerning the goddess Ishtar (pronounced as Easter) as we have demonstrated in this article. Ishtar is linked to the Babylonian understanding of the precession of the equinoxes and its association with the 8 pointed cross (Shamash).
Pope John Paul II addresses the public at Easter 6 days after the vernal equinox at March 27 2005 while he faces the equinox Sun. The palace is adorned with 8 pointed crosses that are associated with Ishtar and Shamash of ancient Babylon.
During services at the Vatican the Pope wears a stole with 8 pointed crosses. The 8 pointed crosses on the stole are actually two different 4 pointed crosses that are superimposed! The palace from which he speaks is adorned with 8 pointed crosses.

The Coat of Arms of the Holy See contains crosses on crosses and bears little resemblance with the cross that Jesus died on, the real Christian Cross. Notice that there are two crosses on two keys. The keys themselves form yet another cross.

In Christian churches we find abundant examples of 8 pointed crosses in lead glass windows and floor tiles and in most if not all cases these 8 pointed crosses exist of two separate four pointed crosses!

It is important to define what the Galactic Alignment is in precise astronomical terms. (See the Glossary below for terms.)
The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes.
Precession is caused by the earth wobbling very slowly on its axis and shifts the position of the equinoxes and solstices one degree every 71.5 years. Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator (see diagram below).
The precise alignment of the solstice point (the precise center-point of the body of the sun as viewed from earth) with the Galactic equator was calculated to occur in 1998 (Jean Meeus, Mathematical Astronomy Morsels, 1997).
Thus, the Galactic Alignment "zone" is 1998 +/- 18 years = 1980 - 2016. This is "era-2012."
This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar.
These are the astronomical facts of the matter. From a larger perspective, we can visualize the 2012 Galactic Alignment in the following way:
Position A is where the December solstice sun was in relation to the Milky Way some 3,000 years ago. Position B is 1,500 years ago. And position C is "era-2012", when the December solstice sun has converged, as a result of the precession of the equinoxes, with the exact center-line of the Milky Way (the Galactic equator). Notice that the place of alignment is where the 'nuclear bulge' of the Galactic Center is located.

Descriptions of the process are also there, but it should be noted that Nick describes what I refer to as "the solstice-galaxy alignment" with a preference for the equinox as the measuring reference. Thus, he speaks of the "Holy Cross" of the equinox axis and the Milky Way. The point is that "solstice-galaxy alignment" and "equinox-galaxy cross" refer to the same event.
It is my hope that the these definitions will help to standardize the terminology so we can clearly discuss the rare precessional alignment that culminates in era-2012.

Albert Pike suggests the same thing of the Enoch legend, that it pointed to a rite with nine stages that was performed literally underground, the form of which was related mathematically to their astronomical template. The logic goes like this: We'll form a club based on the nine planetary spheres, there with will be nine degrees to represent the phases of the souls journey. These numbers and ideas will inform our architecture and ceremonies. Underground chambers symbolize the womb, and nine of them would represent the human gestation period, nine months. Precession of the Tropical Zodiak & the Astrological Ages
The vernal point is also the fiducial (reference point) for the tropical zodiak, defining 0° tropical Aries. Because the vernal point moves in the ecliptic, the entire set of signs comprising the tropical zodiak also moves with respect to the stars (and the sidereal zodiak), which remain fixed in their location in the heavens.
The location of the vernal point in the sidereal zodiak defines the current zodiakal age. The sidereal zodiak is a set of signs, much like the tropical signs, except they do not move in the ecliptic. The sidereal signs are aligned with their corresponding constellations. The tropical zodiak aligned with the fixed sidereal zodiak around 200 A.D. but has since drifted 25°; i.e. this was when zero degrees tropical Aries aligned with 0° sidereal Aries. The vernal point currently resides at about 5° sidereal Pisces as it slowly moves toward the sidereal sign of Aquarius--thus we are completing the age of Pisces. We will formally enter the age of Aquarius when the vernal point precesses to 0° Aquarius--in about 360 years (5° x 72 yrs) from now. The vernal point is also called the Birthplace, or the Office of the Christos (point of the sun/son/soul)--governing the timing of the re-birth of soul consciousness into the world.
The vernal point's arrival to 5° sidereal Pisces at this time in Earth's precessional cycle (circa 2000 A.D.) creates a primary event that supersedes the importance of changing zodiakal ages: this event is the formation of a perfect cross in the cycle of Earth's Precession of the equinoxes. The formation of this precessional cross is explained below.
 The center (blue) ring in the above illustration is the sidereal zodiak. The signs of the sidereal zodiak align with their corresponding constellations and their stars. The sidereal zodiak does not move. It is referenced to the fixed stars in the heavens, or to the fixed and primary galactic equatorial axis in the ecliptic (the horizontal line). This axis is created by the intersection of the ecliptic plane and the galactic plane, which are tilted with respect to each other by 60°. The two nodes of this axis in the ecliptic are the “Galactic Equatorial Node” (GEN) at 5° sidereal Sagittarius, and the anti-GEN at 5° sidereal Gemini. They are also called the “Gate of God” and the “Gate of Man.”
The outer (violet) ring reveals the thirteen ecliptical constellations (not signs). This ring shows where the boundaries of the actual constellations cross the ecliptic. The constellation Virgo encompasses the largest length of the ecliptic (about 44°). The constellation Scorpio dips south of the ecliptic plane with only the Scorpion’s head lying upon the ecliptic–encompassing only about 6° of the ecliptic. Ophiuchus, the serpent holder, stands upon the Scorpion and crosses the ecliptic–thus creating the thirteenth ecliptical constellation (not sign).
The inner (green ring) is the tropical zodiak (at 2000 A.D.) The tropical zodiak moves around the ecliptic with respect to the fixed stars--with respect to the sidereal zodiak and to the constellations. It moves because 0° tropical Aries is referenced to the moving Vernal Point. The Vernal Point moves around the ecliptic at a rate of about 1° every 72 years (once around the ecliptic in Earth's ~25,000-year precessional cycle) due to Earth's precession. The tropical zodiak and its signs are not reference to the stars or actual constellations, the tropical signs are referenced to Earth's seasons (the Vernal Point is where the Sun resides in the ecliptic on the spring equinox, as experienced in the northern hemisphere). The signs of the tropical zodiak are currently miss-aligned with the true sidereal signs (and the energies of the actual stars and constellations) by ~25°, and they are drifting further and further apart due to Earth's precession.

Señor y Virgen del Milagro es una advocación católica, venerada en la Ciudad de Salta, provincia de Salta, norte de la República Argentina.
El origen de las imágenes se remonta al año 1592, época en que el obispo del Tucumán fray Francisco de Vitoria concretara la donación al pueblo de Salta de la imagen de un cristo crucificado de tamaño natural cuyo destino sería la iglesia matriz de Salta y de una inmaculada concepción para la ciudad de Córdoba. La llegada a tierras americanas de las imágenes y los hechos posteriores sucedidos luego de los terremotos de 1692 fueron, según los relatos, auténticamente milagrosos.

Is New York City -- plausibly the greatest city on earth -- the city called 'Babylon' personified by a 'great whore'? Does the scriptural passages concerning the fall of Babylon have some relevance to the 911 terrorist attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center twin towers? Indeed, since many had long compared NYC to the scriptural 'Babylon', the 'prophecies' in Revelation quoted above can quite naturally be considered applicable to the first major attack on the US homeland - one of the biggest, and most shocking, terrorist incidents in all history. Although some may object to the resultant implication that NYC is the city of sinners that had to be destroyed by 'God' himself, I'd point out that the sense of 'good vs. evil' in the Bible is quite a murky one that should not be taken too literally. (In fact, nothing in religious writings is to be taken literally - it's a trap that ape-brained men can't seem to get past... and this has caused so much trouble for the world throughout history. This is what happens when a powerful 'gift' is given to those who are not ready to handle it. History of mankind since c. 4000 BC -- when 'Pandora's box' was opened -- is the story of humans struggling to co-exist with the divine 'gift'.) A case in point: in Genesis, we read that at one time men were all united, spoke one language, and worked together in harmony toward reaching 'heaven':
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Genesis 11:4)
In other words, mankind was thriving in peace and had high hopes. And what does 'God' do?
And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel... (Genesis 11:5-9)
If the biblical 'God' represents all that is 'good', then this episode does not make much sense, does it? If 'good' represents men not living in harmony and striving to become something better, then what good is being 'good'? Hence, the overlay of NYC and Babylon the 'whore' need not be viewed as an 'evil' city versus those representing the 'good'. And there is, of course, a direct parallel between the NYC-Babylon juxtaposition and the biblical tale concerning the building of the Tower of Babel just quoted above.  According to tradition, the Tower of Babel was built in the ancient city of Babylon - in fact 'Babel' and 'Babylon' are practically interchangeable terms. How fitting is it that it was the twin towers -- by far the tallest in the city -- of the modern Babylon, i.e. NYC, that were destroyed in the recent terrorist attacks? NYC is the ultimate melting pot of all peoples of this planet where they interact in harmony (well-exemplified by NYC being the home of the United Nations) and produce something great -- just like the builders of the Tower of Babel. And even the designation of 'whore' is quite applicable as at the entrance to NYC is found the welcoming Statue of Liberty, a great woman symbolizing the great city.
There are further correlations to be yielded by the label 'whore'. A character in the scriptures that would best fit the description is Mary Magdalene - an enigmatic female companion, or quite likely the lover/wife, of Jesus Christ. Although Mary Magdalene is never described as a prostitute in the New Testament, it has been the prevalent view that she was. Chances are, though, the Magdalene is to be considered a 'whore' only in the symbolic sense that she was a version of the ancient Egyptian goddess par excellence, Isis, the wife-sister of Osiris, who was both a 'virgin' and a 'whore' as well as a goddess of wisdom and magic. (Isis' companion Osiris was killed and later resurrected to nicely parallel the Magdalene's companion, Jesus.) Isis, in turn, was represented in the sky by the great star Sirius -- a star of utmost importance to the ancient Egyptians as its 'rebirth' (i.e. 'heliacal rising') in mid-summer had the function of marking the New Year and signaling the beginning of the life-giving annual flooding of the Nile, roughly coinciding with the summer solstice. Curiously, the biblical tale about the Tower of Babel immediately follow those concerning Noah and the Great Flood as if to echo the correlation.
Esoterically, Sirius is represented by a five-pointed star, i.e. a pentagonal form -- thus ending up strongly resonating with the fact that the '911' terrorist attacks hit not just the WTC towers but also the Pentagon (whose construction, by the way, began on 9-11). Sirius, moreover, may be considered a 'stargate' par excellence for in ancient Egypt 'star' was interchangeable with 'doorway'. Sirius being the brightest star in the night sky, it can thusly be viewed as the ultimate 'gate of heaven', or 'gate of the god' - which just happens to be the very meaning of the name 'Babylon'. Similarly, the name given to the historical Tower of Babel, Etemenanki, meant 'the house of the foundation of heaven and earth', i.e. a gate to heaven. This link is then further enhanced by the fact that the name 'Magdalene' (as Magdala) can mean 'tower' as in the Tower of Babel and the WTC twin towers. Reinforcing the connection even more, amazingly, is the groundbreaking date of the WTC twin towers being August 5, that is, the very date of Sirius' heliacal rising/'rebirth' in our epoch! The Magdalene's name can also mean 'place of the dove' - which is still quite intriguing as it relates to the flood theme; it was a dove that signaled for Noah that the flood had ended (see Gen. 8:8-12).
The Fallen
In Genesis, the cause of the biblical Flood is -- rather mysteriously -- associated with 'fallen angels', or 'giants'/'sons of God', more properly called the 'Nephilim':
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth...
This is a typical English translation of Genesis 6:4-7 that contains some errors, including the last phrase, ‘men of renown’. It may be more accurately rendered as ‘the people of the shem’. What, then, is the ‘shem’? Zecharia Sitchin writes:
The persistence of biblical translators to employ "name" wherever they encounter shem has ignored a farsighted study published more than a century ago by G. M. Redslob… in which he correctly pointed out that the term shem and the term shamaim ("heaven") stem from the root word shamah, meaning "that which is highward." (The 12th Planet, pp.147-8)
The shem was also closely linked with fire and a stone; the shem thus was a ‘highward fire-stone’. It is, in other words, apparently a reference to a meteorite. This is strongly corroborated by the fact that:
Shems were particularly associated with something called an-na, which meant ‘heavenly stone’, a term that was also used to define a shining metal. The use of the word shem in respect of its ‘shining’ aspect is apparent in the alternative name for Prince Utu, brother of Inanna… His epithet was Shem-esh: the Shining One. (Laurence Gardner, Genesis of the Grail Kings, p.120)
So, what we have here is this: the shem was a ‘heavenly shining fire-stone’ while the Nephilim, i.e. the ‘fallen angles’ (also called the ‘Shining Ones’), were the ‘people of the shem’.
The shem also figures in the tale of the Tower of Babel:
…let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a shem, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Again, the shem is directly associated with heaven, and here it is additionally linked with the top of a tower – which makes the shem very much comparable to the Egyptian Benben Stone which too is thought to have been a meteorite and was placed at the very top of a pyramid or obelisk. It may also be noticed that the Babel story conceptually parallels the saga of the 'fallen angels' who were punished by ‘God’ for overreaching just as was the case with the builders of the Tower.
The Benben Stone connection then brings us back to Osiris, the husband-brother of Isis, as ancient Egyptian theology equated the heavenly stone with the soul of Osiris as well as the phoenix. Since the phoenix signifies the concept of resurrection, it may be inferred that the Benben/shem is symbolic of Osirian resurrection which mythologically takes place with the help of Isis. And similarly, Jesus -- in theory, the biblical Osiris -- is identified in the New Testament with the cornerstone of the Temple that the ‘builders rejected’:
…Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone… (Ephesians 2:20)
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (Acts 4:10-1)
This notion of a rejected cornerstone can easily be compared to the ‘rejected’ capstone/benben of the greatest Egyptian ‘Temple’, the Great Pyramid. Combined with a cornerstone’s significance as the transition from the underground realm to the upper realm, the rejected cornerstone even echoes the Benben Stone being symbolic of Osirian resurrection (thus further reinforcing the Osiris-Jesus identification).
Antediluvian Pillars
Osiris was considered the ruler of the Golden Age known to the ancient Egyptians as the Zep Tepi, or 'First Time'. This mythical realm in turn has been often associated with the supposed great antediluvian civilization that Plato called 'Atlantis'. In Plato's accounts of this lost world, the only clear reference to its geographical position is that it was situated beyond the 'pillars of Hercules' (an ancient name for the Straits of Gibraltar at the western end of the Mediterranean Sea). Osiris, correspondingly, was often depicted in the shape of a pillar by the ancient Egyptians. Could the two 'pillars of Hercules' that represented a gateway to the paradisiacal realm be now considered analogous to the Tower of Babel/'gate of the god' or more specifically the twin towers/pillars of NYC destroyed in the 9-11 terrorist attacks?
The imagery of two pillars is also clearly evocative of the two pillars of Jachin and Boaz (symbolizing individual power and life) that stood at the entrance to Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem, the home of the Ark of the Covenant. They were made of brass (1 Kings 7:15) - which has a most fitting implication as brass/bronze is considered to signify 'the indissoluble compact between Earth and Heaven and the pledge of the everlasting stability of this covenant' (Chevalier & Gheerbrant, Dictionary of Symbols, "column"). Representations of these pillars are still found in lodges of Freemasonry, a large semi-secret and esoteric organization which carries within its mysterious tradition that of the medieval warrior-monks, the Knights Templar.
After its sudden dissolution initiated by the French king Philip the Fair in 1307, the Templar survivors apparently made their way into Scotland where they and their tradition found a sanctuary and were maintained by certain interlocking families including the Sinclairs, the patron of Scottish Freemasonry, who had a close connection with the Templar knights. Among the Templar legacies were almost certainly things they had obtained at the site of Solomon's Temple which they had been allowed to use as their headquarters. It is known that the knights excavated the site and probably found something of great importance which may have contributed to the rapid rise to the top of the power structure in Christendom. So it was quite obviously through the incorporation of Templarism that Freemasonry came to adopt the Solomonic twin-pillar symbolism.
That these pillars are relevant to our discussion is effectively confirmed by the imagery on one of the tarot cards called the 'High Priestess' or 'Papess' which shows a high priestess/female pope along with the pillars of Jachin and Boaz marked 'J' and 'B'.
The Papess almost certainly represents none other than Mary Magdalene (= Isis, Babylon, tower, etc.) who actually had a power struggle with Peter the first pope according to Gnostic Gospels. Also, tellingly, the term ‘prostitute’ (a description often applied to the Magdalene), as hierodulae, would refer to the ‘sacred women’-- or 'priestesses' -- of the temple of the Goddess who performed a ritual practice resembling the anointing of Jesus by Mary of Bethany (often equated with Mary Magdalene). In ancient times, anointing of the king was a ritual – called the ‘Sacred Marriage’ in Greek – performed by a royal bride; the implication being that Mary Magdalene married Jesus, just as Isis was the wife of Osiris, resulting in the 'Holy Grail' which is the 'Blood Royal'.
The pillars of Jachin and Boaz also nicely relate back to the themes of the Flood and Atlantis as originally these Masonic pillars represented the 'Antediluvian Pillars' erected by Enoch, Noah's great-grandfather, who is considered one of Freemasonry's founders. According to legend, Enoch had the foreknowledge of the coming Deluge and constructed nine hidden vaults in which he concealed certain knowledge. He then placed two columns at the site upon which were inscribed the 'seven sciences' of mankind and such. The vaults were later found by Solomon while building his Temple. Enoch, therefore, can be viewed as a prototype of Noah and the vaults/pillars are another form of the Ark containing antediluvian, or Atlantean, 'knowledge'.
It is interesting to point out here that it is the 'Book of Enoch' that contains the most detailed account of the affairs of the 'fallen angels'/'Watchers' briefly mentioned in Genesis. Also, that the number of Enoch's vaults was nine, combined with the twin pillars visually forming the number '11', raises the possibility that the date of the terrorist attacks on the NYC twin towers (9-11) was in reference, at least in part, to the Antediluvian Pillars and its connection to the WTC 'pillars'. Seemingly supportive of this, numerically, also is the fact that there are exactly 111 days left in the year after 9-11. As it happens, the Sumerian version of Noah's Ark "was a cube - a modest one, measuring 60x60x60 fathoms, which represents the unit in the sexagesimal system where 60 is written as 1" (Hamlet's Mill, p.219). In other words, the original Ark could be considered to have measured 1x1x1 or '111'.
Lost and Found
On the Etemenanki website, I have long pointed out the persistent symbolic connection that apparently exists between high-impact world events -- especially airplane crashes -- and the theme of the Ark-Grail (see 1999: The Ark of Sirius for example). The '911' event involving airplane crashes, needless to say, fits the pattern very well.
After some contemplation, I have now finally found a reasonably sound explanation as to why such a symbolic link exists. An 'airplane' is a perfect vehicle to carry the notion of the 'air-plane' as in the 'dimension of air' that is sandwiched between the planes of earth and heaven. Its relative position therefore is implicative of the familiar theme of the unification or 'gate' of earth and heaven. In support of this interpretation, we find that in ancient Egypt it was conceptualized that the air god Shu was sort of a pillar that held the vault of heaven above. This imagery is strikingly evocative of Atlas of Greek mythology who was condemned to bearing the heaven on his shoulders for eternity after the great war with the Olympians. Atlas, in turn, is said to have been the first king of Atlantis and in effect the embodiment of this legendary civilization!
Airplane crashes would therefore be analogous to the destruction of the antediluvian world, i.e. none other the the Great Flood, which may be conceptually thought of as the collapse of great pillars/towers/gate -- and that is exactly what took place at the World Trade Center in NYC!
The planes crashing into the WTC towers and the Pentagon was of course like no other plane crashes. The magnitude of devastation and symbolic coherence was off the scale. Does this imply something? Why so strong an echo of the 'Atlantean' destruction in 2001?
Could it be that like Osiris and the phoenix, Atlantis is getting ready to rise again from its ashes now? Is the Ark about to be opened? Is the discovery of the fabled Atlantean 'Hall of Records' imminent?
In 2000, an underwater city with pyramidal structures was detected off the coast of Cuba. Researchers have been quietly examining this most enigmatic archaeological find behind the scenes. We are at this time simply awaiting the news of this paradigm-shattering revelation to break. Could this be relevant? It seems so.
Indeed, long before the '911' attacks I had already detected a curious pattern. In the 'View from Here' section of the Etemenanki website, for example, I have made the following remarks:
- June 20: "Looks like this is going to be a summer of Atlantis."
- July 06: "...the undercurrent esoteric theme of this summer was to be the 'rising' of Atlantis... I'd say 'the timetable', the template of history, is dictating that 2001 be the beginning of the 'resurrection of Osiris' (which has many levels of meaning)."
Along with these I had also noted how this theme appeared to be entangled with Mars at which NASA's latest probe, Mars Odyssey, just arrived on Oct. 23, '01.  All summer long, Mars was very close to Earth -- in fact, closest in over a decade -- and was a dominant object in the night sky. And since 1998, Mars Global Surveyor had been giving us new photographs of the controversial Cydonia "monuments" on Mars in an attempt to confirm or refute the claim of the Cydonian structures being artificial - a question that still has not been settled but is getting more and more intriguing. Perhaps Odyssey will help solving the enigma soon.
It cannot be ignored that NYC, where the 'Atlantean pillars' stood, is situated at ~40.8°N latitude which happens to be the very latitude of the Martian 'monuments' in Cydonia.  And one of the most intriguing Cydonia structures happens to be a pentagonal pyramid called the 'D&M Pyramid' which is very much evocative of the Pentagon hit by a plane on 9-11. The Martian Pentagon is even partially collapsed to reflect the US Pentagon, or vice versa.
What are we to make of all these and other connections? Atlantis... Mars... Was Atlantis on (gasp) Mars? Did mankind first started on the Red Planet before the "Flood"? One telling clue is the fact that the humans ‘free-running circadian rhythm’ (i.e. the natural sleep-awake cycle without any external time cues such as sunrise, sunset, clock, daily routine, etc.) is not 24 hours as expected, but about 24.7 hours long instead – that is, almost precisely the length of a Martian day.
Did man 'fall' to Earth in an "Exodus" from the Red Planet like a life-seeding meteorite and knowledge-providing 'fallen angles'? The shem was a 'fire-stone' - isn't this a potent allusion to Mars, the planet/'stone' of fire?
What was placed in the Ark of Moses, according to some scholars, were actually meteorites. Could the tale of Moses and his Ark, then, be another version of Noah and his Ark? Was the 'Exodus' of the Israelites led by Moses, then, actually a parabolic story about an interplanetary migration of man in the forgotten past?
The 911 event being a symbolic reenactment of the Flood (i.e. destruction of 'Atlantis'), wouldn't the pattern dictate that the next event be a mass 'Exodus'? Could it be just a coincidence that I conceptually equated President Bush with Moses in The Two Suns of Election MM last year?
But where would be the destination of this 'Exodus'? Where is our 'Promised Land'?
You guessed it: Mars.
The world events today appear to be symbolically anticipating mankind's imminent migration to the Red Planet on which will likely be found enough water to sustain a full-blown civilization soon (this is probably where Mars Odyssey comes in).
We are going back to our Genesis, the First Time, the Golden Age, the Age of Osiris.
America is no longer the 'New World'. Mars is. And this is actually part of what I had in mind when I stated in early 2000:
Now, I'm not sure if I want to say this... but here is something that the data I have is suggesting to me. It's that the year 2000/2001 is to bring to the United States one of the biggest events the country has ever experienced. This is not something I 'believe' or based on 'millennial' mentality; it's just what the data I have (not presented on this website) is suggesting to me. The key concepts attached to this are termination and 'New World'.

TRACING THE SUN THROUGH THE ZODIAC & CANCER...COULD THIS BE THE ORIGIN FOR THE "JESUS STORY" #8
CANCER & JESUS: JUNE 22 - JULY 22
We ended the last article looking at the correlations between the "Jesus Story" in the New Testament and the path of the Sun through the Zodiac, in particular the constellation Gemini as it parallels the depiction of the "Jesus Story" taken chronologically throughout the New Testaments' depiction of Jesus Christ. Now we continue to go more deeply. The association of Cancer with water dates back to the shadowy dawn of astrology. The image of the crab is Babylonian in origin. In Egypt, this sign was represented by two turtles, and sometimes as an obscure water creature, known as Allul. The later placement of the crab within the zodiac is related to a minor chapter in Greek mythology, within the Twelve Labors of Herakles. The first labor of Herakles' (Hercules to the Romans), had been to kill the Lion of Nemea, (See Leo). Next in line was the fearsome, many-headed Hydra, a great sea monster, living in the marshes of Lerna. Hera, the goddess who sent Herekles to these tasks, often encouraged his failure. During his battle with Hydra, Hera commanded a nearby crab to attack Herekles and draw his attention away. Without question, the little creature took a claw-hold of a conspicuous toe. This act cost the crab its life, for Hercules abruptly crushed him. Impressed by its loyalty and courage, Hera placed the crab's image in the night sky. The Hydra had been a favorite to Hera, and was equally honored by the goddess. Not far from Cancer in the sky, lies the vast, chaotic constellation named for the great beast. Cancer itself, is not a brilliant constellation. However, at its heart is a lovely star cluster, sometimes known in astronomy as the Beehive. The name derives from the appearance of a swarm of stars in a dance of activity.
We saw in the previous article that in ancient times that the Ancient astronomers and Priests noticed that in the northern hemisphere the Sun reached its most northerly point in the sky as it rose each year through the constellation Gemini on its way to the constellation Cancer. We saw that the Sun reaches this point about June 21st, and this day is known as the summer Solstice. On the summer Solstice, the Sun appears overhead at latitude 23.5o north on Earth. This latitude is called the Tropic of Cancer. It retains this name today even though because of a wobble of the Earth called precession, the Sun now lies in the neighboring constellation of Gemini at the summer Solstice.
But after the Sun reaches its zenith in the Heavens there is only one place to go and that is backwards as its retraces it path toward the soon coming Winter Solstice as darkness beings to slowly overtake the Sun on a daily basis. The Sun has crossed a major divide; darkness starts to increase. In June the Sun passes through Cancer (June 21- July 22). The starting date is June 21, the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year when the Sun is at its highest ascension. After this day the Sun goes go backwards, beginning it's descent southward, as the days get shorter and shorter and darkness once again begins its assault upon the light of the Sun.
ASTRONOMY AND CANCER
Appropriately the Ancients assigned a "crab" for the symbol or sign of the constellation Cancer. The reason is obvious once we understand this backward movement of the Sun at this time of the year. Shore-inhabiting and various names all signifying Crab, Crayfish or Lobster have been used for the constellation Cancer. A tortoise, scarab, and crab all move with an awkward, scuttling motion. This application possibly derives from the fact that the Sun's northward motion slows and appears hesitant for 3 days around the time of the Summer Solstice - before it begins to move backwards with a crablike movement southward again. For quite a while the Sun seemed to hesitate at its Solstice height before descending again to its lower Autumn and Winter heights; this hesitation in the movement of the Sun was likened to "death" as we say earlier in the story of Jonah. This hesitancy (Solstice...the Sun remain still for 3 days) can be seen in the peculiar movements of the living crab. Anyone who has watched a crab on the beach must have noticed its peculiar sideways walk, its sudden forward movements, and its occasional circles - as though it cannot make up its mind where to go. A crab walk in a zigzag path, sideways and backwards at the same time in a kind of a backsliding movement thus mimicking exactly what the Ancients saw in the movement and path of the Sun following the Summer Solstice. The idea that this dimmest part of the zodiac represents a crab might have to do with the fact that the Sun turned southward in its path and movement when it reached that part of the heavens and when the Sun reached its zenith in the sky at the Summer Solstice. An ancient writer tells us that Chaldeans associated this region with a crab because these creatures walk sideways, then backwards, like the Sun appears to move as it reaches the Summer Solstice and turns southward. Possibly related to this, ancient Egyptians called this part of the sky the Scarab, in reference to their concept that an invisible celestial scarab beetle which was believed to push the Sun across the Heavens. Cancer has usually been seen as a hard-shelled animal. We don't know how long Cancer has been called a crab, but it seems to have been a tortoise in both Babylonia and in early Egypt around 4000 BC. Two thousand years later it is identified in Egyptian records as a scarab beetle, Scarabaeus, an emblem of immortality.
When the fixed stars of Cancer marked the position of the Sun at the June Summer Solstice, and according to Chaldaean, Platonist and Mesopotamians philosophy, this key position in the Sky marked the gateway for the descent of souls into incarnation, the "Gate of Men" through which souls descended from heaven into human bodies. [Richard Hinchley Allen, Starnames, Their Lore and Meaning, 1889, a reference book on the history of the stars and constellations for astronomers, Dover Publications 1963, p. 107). It was held that the souls of men, when released from corporeity, ascended to heaven through the stars of Capricorn, whence it was called the "Gate of the Gods"; their road of descent, in order to be reborn was through the "Gate of Cancer". It is also interesting to note that somehow Cancer, then marking the northern gate of the Sun, became known to Chaldean and Platonist philosophers as the "Gate of Men," through which, they said, souls of people came down from heaven to enter human bodies. To the Ancient Japanese, who regarded the grouping as a "lump of souls," the Beehive Cluster, in Cancer, was a truly terrifying sight.
The least bright constellation of the Zodiac, the constellation Cancer marked for the Ancients the beginning of the Solstice of Summer (and so the Capricorn was the beginning of the Solstice of Winter) during the times of the creation of the Bible and this explains why such symbolism is reflected in the stories of the Bible; in particular for our study the "Jesus Story"! The zodiacal sign of Cancer (which the Sun enters on midsummers day) was, at one time represented by the Ancients as two donkeys feeding at a manger.
CANCER AND THE "JESUS STORY"
In keeping with our study of the evolving life of Jesus as depicted chronologically in the New Testament in parallel with the path of the Sun though the Zodiac. The more we study the more we continue to see more interesting "parallels" concerning the life of Jesus as depicted chronologically in the New Testament as taken from the path of the Sun (personified as Jesus) through the Zodiac. We now follow the Sun through the Zodiac as it travels from Gemini to Cancer.
We left off with Matthew chapter twelve in our prior study of the Sun moving through Gemini and we noticed that the stories of Jesus and his disciples going through the grain fields plucking heads of grain to eat which is presented as a problem which really is not in Judaism as well as the opposition to healing on the Sabbath which again according to Judaism was never a problem. Hostility toward him has already been manifested (Matthew 8:10; 9:3, 10-13, 34), but here it becomes more intense but this is to be expected as the Sun moves to the Summer Solstice for right on the other side "darkness" awaits to overtake the Sun and his power. We mentioned that such unhistorical narratives were but literary ploys to create this increasing "tension" between the opposing Cosmic forces of "light" vs "darkness". We have at its best here the battles with personified darkness depicted in the healings of the man with a withered hand on the sabbath as well as the healing of the blind and mute man (Matt. 12:9-22). This opposition to light in the allegory of Pharisee opposition can be summed up:

Astronomically and allegorically speaking "darkness" lies in wait to apprehend the Sun and take it to its ultimate death as the Winter Solstice. Again is must be said that if one studies Judaism he is hard pressed to see that these accounts were actual stories in a historical setting; rather, one comes to see these as but "literalizations" of the constant struggle between "light and darkness".
Following the text in chronological sequence we should come to some form of "division" or "separation" since the Sun in its path is now dividing the Sky in half. Following the New Testament narrative we find as we expected the Jesus speaking of "division" at this point in the text in keeping with the path of the Sun.

Answer for yourself: Jesus is talking about "dividing" a house. Did we not see in another article that Jesus had mentioned that in His Fathers's house is "many mansions" and that this referred to the 12 signs of the Zodiac?
As noted before, the year was divided into 12 equal parts, or months. And to each month was appointed a heavenly symbol or astrological "Sign." Each of the 12 monthly signs was called a "House" of the heavenly Zodiac.
John 14:2 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (KJV)
The signs of the zodiac have been called at times the "houses of the Sun," and also they are considered as the day or night "mansions" of the planets. Religiously minded astrologers, indeed, refer to the zodiacal signs as the "many mansions" in the Father's house, of which Jesus speaks in the Gospels.
Answer for yourself: Is it a coincidence that at this point in the path of the Sun, personified as Jesus, that we should expect to find something either in the sayings of Jesus or in his life having to do with "division" since the Sun just reached its apex of ascension and begins its southward trek back down the Sky? What we see is that at the Summer Solstice the increase of light and the victory over the foe of darkness has reached its maximum point and the Sun begins to travel backwards now as if dividing the Sky in half. Such is the division I speak. And this is exactly what we find.
The Summer Solstice falls at the precise moment when the Sun's power is at its zenith. It is the time of year when the noon Sun appears to be farthest north from the celestial equator. "Solstice" is Latin for "Sun stands still" (sol "Sun" and sistere "to stand"). Summer Solstice is so named because to the naked eye the Sun appears stationary in its northern and southern progression. The Sun is directly over the tropic of Cancer at the Summer Solstice. From the moment of Summer Solstice, the Sun immediately begins to wane. The journey into the harvest season has begun. Midsummer has been one of the important solar events throughout the evolution of humankind. It was an indicator that the year was about to begin waning, thus Winter would be again returning. Although not all the ancients were as precise in the calculations from an astronomical point, you can be sure that they were keenly aware of the sun's progression, and did most assuredly know when Solstice was upon them, as the Sun appeared to stand still in its northern progression.
But that is not all.
Answer for yourself: What should we expect to find at the Summer Solstice? The word Solstice comes from the Latin term "solstitium," which translates into English as "Sun standing still." As mentioned it is at the Summer Solstice that we should expect to see the Sun standing still for three days around Solstice, as the Sun rises and sets in nearly identical places before continuing its backward movement southward in the Sky on its way to the Winter Solstice and that is exactly what we see. We have seen in prior studies that the Ancients thought the Sun had died for 3 days at the Winter Solstice due to its cessation of movement in its path in the Heavens but now as well we see that in the teachings of Matthew we find the mention of this "3 day" period as well as connected to a teaching coming from Jesus.
Answer for yourself: Where do we find Jesus teachings this reference to this 3 days in the path of the Sun as correlated to the depiction of his life chronologically in the Gospels?
We find it in Matthew again in Jesus' teaching of Jonah being in the belly of the great fish for 3 days.
Matt 12:40 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (KJV)
Answer for yourself: Does this 3 day reference to Jonah at the Summer Solstice as mentioned by Jesus correspond astronomically to the 3 day reference to Jesus being in the tomb of earth for 3 days at the Winter Solstice? Yes.
Answer for yourself: What is the Astronomical link? There are periods of 3 days with both the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice when the Sun appears "to stand still" which was interpreted by the Ancients as "death" and this is applies both to Jonah, in the middle of the Gospel story as in the middle of the year, and to Jesus as well at the end of the Gospel or should I say at the end of the "Jesus Story" at the Winter Solstice. To any "thinking believer" it is hard to deny what we see here especially when we consider the unique timing in the gospels for these solar events to occur and the teachings the appear concerning Jesus as these times as well.
Answer for yourself? Why should we have expected to find Jesus teaching about Jonah (since he could not use his death for an example since he had not died yet)? Well you see Jonah appears to be dead for 3 days in the belly of the whale only to be presented alive after 3 days exactly as does the Sun at the Summer Solstice.
Answer for yourself: What do we see hidden in the story of Jonah in the belly of the fish for 3 days? We see that Jonah's message to the non-Jewish world was a message from God of "repentance" connected with "salvation".
