Estrellas principales:
* Betelgeuse: proviene de una expresión árabe que significa "axila del que está en el centro".
* Rigel: de origen árabe, es la "pierna del que está en el centro" ("Rijl Jauzah al Yusra").
* Bellatrix: el significado último de este nombre es "la mujer guerrera". Su origen se halla en una serie de errores de
traducción al y del árabe medieval de una palabra, "al najid", que significa "el conquistador ".
* Saiph: proviene de la expresión árabe "Saif al Jabbar", esto es, "la espada del gigante".
* Mintaka: palabra árabe que significa "cinturón".
* Alnitak: del árabe, significa "faja".
* Alnilam: proviene de árabe, de una expresión que significa "collar de perlas".
Descripción 
Es la constelación más impresionante del Hemisferio Norte y representa de forma muy "evidente" una figura humana con un arco extendido hacia el este, enfrentándose a Tauro. Contiene dos estrellas de primera magnitud, Betelgeuse y Rigel y la famosa nebulosa de Orión en forma de daga que cuelga de tres estrellas en línea recta que conforman el Cinturón de Orión.
La constelación de Orión, gracias al brillo de las estrellas que la componen, ha estado presente en todas las culturas en un lugar de relevancia entre los mitos celestes, aunque no siempre considerando todas las estrellas involucradas actualmente.
La primera noticia que se tiene de ella la sitúa en Mesopotamia: aparece en las tablas de Mul-Apin bajo el nombre de "Siba-zi-an-na", "El verdadero pastor celeste". De una tradición acadia procede el término "Papsukkal", que es el visir de los dioses Anu e Inanna (An e Ishtar en acadio). La forma se correspondería a la actual, con el personaje representado sujetando un bastón o un arco.
En el antiguo Egipto, esta constelación fue de gran importancia, aunque no completa: las tres estrellas del Cinturón de Orión, Alnitak, Alnilam y Mintaka, eran las representantes de Sah, dios estelar que representaba a Osiris. Frecuentemente se ha asociado a esta constelación la propiedad de servir a los arquitectos egipcios como "mapa estelar" por el cual orientar las pirámides del Imperio Antiguo. La mayor parte de estas afirmaciones son fábulas, aunque estudios serios no descartan que esta constelación formara parte de la vida de los egipcios de aquella época de forma muy importante.
En la antigua Grecia, ya Homero nombra a esta constelación con el nombre de Orión. Era un hermoso cazador, hijo de Euríale y Poseidón, de estatura inmensa ("sus hombros sobresalían del mar en las fosas más profundas"), del que se cuentan muchos mitos (bastante inconexos, por cierto). Se habría enamorado de Mérope, y al no ser correspondido se emborrachó un día y la forzó. El padre de Mérope, Enopión, pidió venganza al dios Dionisos, que durmió al cazador en un profundo sueño. Enopión aprovechó esto para arrancarle los ojos. Desesperado y sin vista, Orión se dirigió a un oráculo, quien le dijo que sólo recuperaría la vista caminando sin descanso hacia el Este (que es precisamente la dirección que siguen las constelaciones).
Tras mucho caminar llegó a Lemnos, donde recuperó la visión. Dedicó mucho tiempo a perseguir a Enopión buscando venganza, pero nunca lo alcanzó. Con el tiempo, entró al servicio de Artemisa (Diana, la cazadora), como cazador. Se cuenta de él que era el mejor cazador de su tiempo, y que maravillaba a todos con sus proezas... hasta el punto que la soberbia se adueñó de él. Un día, llegó a decir que ni el más grande y poderoso animal era rival para él. Al acabar la frase, un diminuto escorpión le picó en el pie y lo mató. Artemisa se apiadó de su servidor y pidió a Zeus que lo situara entre las estrellas. Desde entonces, la constelación de Orión se oculta por el oeste cuando la constelación de Scorpius sale por el este.

Alnitak (Dseta Orionis / ζ Ori / 50 Ori) es un sistema estelar situado en la constelación de Orión. Forma parte del llamado Cinturón de Orión junto a Mintaka (δ Orionis) y Alnilam (ε Orionis) y con ellas forma el grupo conocido como «las tres Marías», siendo Alnitak la estrella situada más al sur. Su nombre proviene del árabe النطاق an-niṭāq y significa «el cinturón». Aunque inicialmente se pensaba que se encontraba a unos 1.500 años luz del Sistema Solar, la medida de su paralaje por el satélite Hipparcos dio como resultado una distancia de sólo unos 700 años luz.

Alnitak es un sistema estelar triple, cuyas componentes principales están separadas 2,1 segundos de arco. La estrella principal del sistema, Alnitak A, es a su vez una estrella binaria, carácter recién descubierto en 1998. La componente principal, Alnitak Aa, es una supergigante azul de tipo espectral O9.5Ib y magnitud aparente +1,89, la más brillante en el cielo de este tipo espectral. Alnitak Ab, 2 magnitudes más tenue, es igualmente una estrella de tipo O, aunque de secuencia principal.
Alnitak Aa es una estrella muy caliente con una temperatura efectiva de 29.500 ± 1.000 K, 10.000 veces más luminosa que el Sol en el espectro visible, aunque si se considera la importante cantidad de radiación ultravioleta que emite, su luminosidad es 100.000 mayor que la solar. Su masa se estima en unas 20 masas solares. Alnitak es una fuente de rayos X provenientes del fuerte viento estelar que sopla a casi 2.000 km/s desde su superficie. Con una edad de apenas 6 millones de años, en su núcleo la fusión del hidrógeno ha finalizado y avanza en su evolución para convertirse en una supergigante roja, posteriormente explotar como supernova y, en última instancia, concluir como estrella de neutrones.
Alnitak B es también una estrella masiva de tipo espectral B2III y magnitud +3,72. Completa una vuelta alrededor del par interior cada 1.500 años.

In terms of Richard Hoagland's ' hyperdimensional physics' derived from the geometric 'message' of Cydonia (Mars), the conduit or 'stargate' between this world  and the Otherworld (i.e. hyperspace) is prominently represented by the angle 19.5°. According to the theory, it is the tetrahedral geometry signified by this angle that enables inter-dimensional energy transfer between the two realms.
 This 'stargate' geometry is expressed by a circumscribed tetrahedron (made up of four equilateral triangles). Interestingly enough, the hieroglyphic sign denoting Sirius was a triangle in ancient Egypt.
The connection is made evident by archaeo-astronomy. First, it is widely accepted these days that the 'air shafts' inside the Great Pyramid were designed to aligned with certain stars. One was specifically targeted toward Sirius in c. 2350 BC.
And at that pinpointed time (c. 2350 BC), Sirius and Orion's Alnitak (representing the Great Pyramid as per the Orion Correlation Theory) together produced the angle 19.5° (when Sirius was rising on the Giza horizon).[10]
 
Next, it is natural - given the Sirius-Great Bend connection - to wonder about the possibility of the Nile's 'Winding Waterway' having some relevance to tetrahedral geometry. Indeed, we do find a clear connection!
Believe it or not, the northern peak of the Great Bend precisely pinpoints the tetrahedral/stargate latitude, 19.5°N.!
What's even more incredible is the fact that the same Bend peak also pinpoints 33°E longitude. As those familiar with Hoagland's work would surely know, '33' and '19.5' are considered the two key numbers in the 'hyperdimensional code'! (Hoagland is just not yet aware of this Nile connection.)
In 1997, the esoteric importance of those numbers was overtly demonstrated as NASA landed a tetrahedron-shaped Mars Pathfinder lander on the Red Planet at 19.5 N and 33 W.! (That's pretty in your face, isn't it?)

The Mayans are very specific in their views about Orion, they consider it to be a point of all creation. In 3114 B.C., they believe these gods came in a convention. Recent research by Phillis Pitluga, a senior astronomer with Chicago’s Adler Planetarium, has demonstrated that the spider, like the Great Pyramids at Giza in Egypt was designed as a terrestrial image in the waist of the spider is of the constellation of Orion. Not only does this spider reflect the Orion Constellation, but its extended arm points to the star SIRIUS.
The straight lines that pass through the geoglyph have been said to point to various directions that the stars of Orion have risen over the local horizon for many, many centuries. THE GREAT PYRAMID
The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. It is one of the oldest structures on the face of the earth and arguably the best built. Its mortar joints are consistently 1/50 of an inch, which is incredible craftsmanship, considering that of the over two million stones that make up the Pyramid, there is no stone weighing less than a ton, most weighing about two and a half, and some as much as 20 tons! The Pyramid covers over 13 acres and is solid masonry, not hollow or earth-filled like the Central American pyramids.
The Great Pyramid here demonstrates the remarkable character of its placement on the face of the Earth. Joseph Seiss and others have demonstrated that the Pyramid lies in the center of gravity of the continents. It also lies in the exact center of all the land area of the world, dividing the earth's land mass into approximately equal quarters. The north-south axis (31 degrees east of Greenwich) is the longest land meridian, and the east-west axis (30 degrees north) is the longest land parallel on the globe. There is obviously only one place that these longest land-lines of the terrestrial earth can cross, and it is at the Great Pyramid! This is incredible, one of the scores of features of this mighty structure which begs for a better explanation.

While being the oldest structure on the face of the earth, the Great Pyramid is the most accurately oriented, being laid out almost exactly due north, south, east, and west. Modern man's best effort, the Paris Observatory, is six minutes of a degree off true north. The Great Pyramid is only three minutes deviant and E. Raymond Capt1 claims that is due mainly to subsidence. Many architects and engineers who have studied the Pyramid's structure contend that, with all our vaunted technological prowess, we could not build the structure today. Does the theory of evolution run in reverse?
TWO SCHOOLS OF PYRAMIDOLOGY
There has been a running controversy between two groups of serious students of the Great Pyramid since Herodotus, the "father of ancient history" revived its study two thousand years after it was built. The first group believes that the Pyramid is a divine revelation, and the second group doesn't. While this latter group might be willing to conjecture that the apparent geometric marvels of the Pyramid are the result of knowledge lost with Atlantis2 or other highly advanced but now destroyed civilization, they will not accept the possibility that God used prophets to direct the building of the Great Pyramid in the way that God directed Noah to build the ark.
Proponents of the divine inspiration school have included John Greaves3 , apparently Sir Isaac Newton4 , John Taylor5 , Scotland's Astronomer Royal C. Piazzi Smyth6 , Joseph Seiss7 , J. Ralston Skinner8 , David Davidson9 , and James and Adam Rutherford10 , Those who have been skeptical of this perspective, but avid students of some form of Great Pyramidology include William Flinders Petrie11 , Sir J. Norman Lockyer12 , the "pyramid power" people including Antoine Bovis, Karl Drbal, G. Patrick Flanagan, and most modern tabloid and/or high glossy treatments of the mystery of the Pyramid including Time-Life's Mystic Places, the work of Erich von Daniken, and Humphrey Evans13 , William Fix14 , Kurt Mendelssohn15 , Max Toth16 and Peter Tompkins17 . The present work is confident that the Great Pyramid's Architect was the Creator and that its builder was the Egyptian pharaoh Cheops, also called Khufu. Cheops was directed by shepherd-prophets who, like the biblical prophets, were men who received a special calling and anointing from God.

In the Bible these are the two prominent passages that point to the Pyramids of Egypt. It is with eagerness and yet with some reservation that this chapter concerning the Pyramids of Giza is written. There is an invariable amount of baggage attached to this subject, but there is also baggage tied to prophecy or any other subject where truth is involved. What is important is that there is valuable information that must be passed along that is a striking discovery concerning the Great Pyramid complex at Giza and its marking both advents of Christ. It is a discovery that is in line with the Bible, history, and the magnificence of the pyramids. It highlights the time in precise astronomical alignments. It is a discovery that fits the themes woven into the Bible concerning the coming King and it further supports the scenario being developed. It would appear this is another clue building the case for Christ’s soon return.
According to the Scriptures, God has placed wonders in Egypt to be a sign at the return of the Lord to deliver those who call on the Lord. This altar is said to be on the border, but yet in the middle. “Giza” means “border” and it is at the border of Upper and Lower Egypt. Therefore, it is also in the middle of Egypt. The Great Pyramid, the last remaining wonder of the ancient world, is located in Giza. The nature of the Great Pyramid and its complex makes it the only real candidate fitting the prophecy found in Isaiah.
The conclusion that the Great Pyramid will be used by God is biblical. However, there are many who cannot swallow this fact. Most see the pyramids as Egyptian and in the same category as the idolatry practiced by them. But that assumes they are Egyptian or that Egyptian history can be painted with a single brush. Jewish tradition recorded by Josephus (Josephus, Antiquities, i 2) and also Arab tradition (Abou Balkhi), place the construction of the Great Pyramid before the Flood of Noah. Of course it is not surprising that Egyptians would want to lay claim to building the pyramids in order to add them to their national portfolio. However, there were no hieroglyphs inside when the Great Pyramid was first opened by Calif Al Mamoun in the ninth century AD. No mummies or treasures either, it was empty. Nothing could positively identify the builder with any certainty. It remains an architectural marvel still unexplained as to how it was engineered with technology from literally a different age—a lost era that is best explained as being pre-Flood.
To say the Great Pyramid or even the other pyramids were built before the Flood is not popular—or yet to even admit to a Flood itself. What is interesting is that the four airshafts of the Great Pyramid are said to have lined up with certain stars (Al Nitak, Kochab, Sirius, Alpha Draconis) at around 2450 BC (Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval, The Mystery of the Sphinx, 64-67). If this is true it would put the time of this alignment at about 100 years before the Flood using a biblical chronology. At this time Noah would be having his three sons who with their wives would make the voyage on the Ark. This makes sense of the Jewish and Arab traditions that teach wise men before the Flood built two pillars to pass on their knowledge. The Great Pyramid and all that it reveals fits this model as one of the likely candidates.
Those who have studied the Great Pyramid are quickly confronted by the mathematical and geometrical knowledge incorporated into its construction. It is a knowledge that was not discovered until the advances in mathematics and measurements of the modern age made it possible. All of these amazing facts can be found, but this is not the direction of this writing. Instead the need here is to focus on the prophetic implications found in the Great Pyramid. Most have focused on the dimensional measurements of the passageways and chambers to see if a historical map of the future can be made. However, there are different units of measure given by others and at times it all seems too subjective. If the builder of the Great Pyramid really did build it to communicate, then it should be somewhat obvious and easy to decode. If we learn what the Pyramid has shown us, then we can develop a model on what the Pyramid will show us. That is why we must begin with the Christ angle.
The Christ Angle
The Christ angle is roughly 26.3 degrees or more precisely 26 degrees, 18 minutes, and 9 seconds. It is the angle of the ascending and descending passageways inside the Great Pyramid. It is called such because this angle if taken north of east from the site of the Great Pyramid will bisect Bethlehem. Those who know the story of the Nativity know that Bethlehem is where Christ was born. But this is not all. If one were at Bethlehem at the time of Christ’s birth and looked up to the lower belt star of Orion (Al Nitak—the wounded one) at meridian, the angle of that star above the horizon would be at the same angle as the Great Pyramid itself—51 degrees and 51 minutes (This conclusion is based from measurements given by Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval in their book, The Mystery of the Sphinx, 284. Other star programs when utilized come to different conclusions about the position of Al Nitak at the time of Christ’s birth. This is not a key aspect to the ensuing argument.). Is it pure coincidence or was it rather by design? But what does Al Nitak in Orion have to do with anything?

Robert Bauval first suggested the Orion Theory in his 1994 book, The Orion Mystery. His theory is that the Pyramids known as Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure are aligned representing the belt stars of Orion—that is, if one looks south. The Great Pyramid (Khufu) is represented by the lower left belt star known as Al Nitak and the Great pyramid is the northeast pyramid. This makes sense since looking at Orion at meridian means one will have to look south. However, the Orion Theory puts pyramid construction at 10,500 BC since it holds to a vernal equinox scenario where Orion is at meridian during dawn at the onset of spring. However, the prophetic view incorporated here is that the pyramid complex was built looking forward down the corridors of time. This works if the layout looks to the other equinox, the beginning of autumn when Orion will be at meridian during dawn. Two thousand years ago Orion (specifically Al Nitak) hit the dawn-meridian at August 26th. Now the alignment is at September 20th due to the precession of the equinoxes. So it is now quite close to the Autumn Equinox. Also, the idea of a Spring Equinox alignment in 10,500 BC is simply not possible because according to biblical chronology humanity has existed for just over 6,000 years.
While September 20th is quite close to the Autumn Equinox, there is also the possibility that Rosh Hashanah will coincide with the meridian alignment of Al Nitak during dawn. Could Rosh Hashanah be the real factor? The basic idea is that the pyramid complex is a map of the heavens of a point in time when Christ returns. The pyramids show what is to be at meridian (Al Nitak in Orion), and also the causeways heading east from the pyramids show the importance of the rising sun or other items rising in the east. That the Sphinx also looks to the east is a factor as well. The point though was to see when there was a candidate for an alignment of Rosh Hashanah and the meridian alignment of Orion at dawn.
When looking for a time when Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets) coincides with September 20th, the nearest year found is 2066 with the next occurrence in 2085. This however puts the time beyond the promise of a generation and beyond the time suggested here. Since Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown and signs come before events, it seems to make more sense for Rosh Hashanah to begin at sundown on the 20th instead of the 19th of September. This would then put Rosh Hashanah on September 21st. If we look for the next time this occurs, it would be in the years of 2017, 2028, and 2047. Of course, the year of 2017 was the same year suggested by the book, Signs of the End, for the end of the Tribulation, but could 2017 instead be the beginning of the Tribulation or the Rapture on the Feast of Trumpets? As with everything else the details that follow help establish the intricate planning involved.
Therefore, at dawn the morning before the Feast of Trumpets 2017, Al Nitak is precisely at meridian. However, there is also the Sphinx looking east, and yet another piece of the puzzle. Many researchers now believe the Sphinx was originally a lion in its totality. The present body is well eroded by rain with the head in much better condition. Most likely this shows that it was chiseled on later by the Egyptians. Also, the head is disproportionately small to the body suggesting that the original lion’s head was later fashioned into the head of a Pharaoh. So the original design was probably a lion looking east, but why? At the alignment scenario with Orion at meridian, the constellation Leo (the Lion) is in the east. But this alone is just the beginning.
Let us not forget the all-important Christ angle to see where it might come into significance. At the moment Al Nitak is at meridian, Leo is in the east, but more importantly its star known as Regulus (the King) is precisely at the inclination of the Christ angle. Therefore, the Christ angle not only bisected Bethlehem at Christ’s birth, but it also bisects Regulus at this possible time of his coming. The year 2017 is the first year from present that Rosh Hashanah comes immediately after September 20th—the time Al Nitak hits meridian precisely at dawn, and also when Regulus hits the Christ angle. The next years that this will occur are 2028 and 2047. But again there is more to the story.
The Morning Star - Revelation 2:28, 2 Peter 1:19
In analyzing the positioning of the stars, moon, and sun at the time of September 20, 2017, there was also another alignment. Venus will be in conjunction with Regulus at this time. So at this moment, Venus, the “Morning Star” will be aligned with the “King Star”, precisely at the Christ angle. If a star navigator program is available, set it to Cairo (or more precisely to the Great Pyramid) for 5:42:24.333 am on September 20, 2017 to verify it. This is very precise and a day either way will put the scenario out of alignment in every way. But as will be seen later, there are more alignments to discuss to demonstrate the fact that the Pyramids are the products of planning by the true God who is beyond time and space.
The approach to finding these discoveries was following the themes and looking for the improbable. In the alignments, Regulus would have to be at the Christ angle. This was determined before going to the computer for confirmation. And it was precisely at the Christ angle. This is similar in approach to other discoveries here. It is by taking an idea with a very limited possibility to see if it then can be confirmed. To presuppose that Regulus should be at 26.3 degrees and find out that it is indeed so at this precise predetermined time is astronomical--literally. It would be impossible if left to chance. The fact that Venus is also in conjunction with Regulus at this time is really the final straw of over confirmation. But as has been seen before, God prefers multiple witnesses for confirmation, and that is why more still needs to be written here.
Planet of the Messiah
The ascending and descending passageways of the Great Pyramid share the common Christ angle, but one is actually the prime of the other. Looking at the computer model of the sky when Regulus and Venus are at the Christ angle just prior to dawn, there is again something suspicious. Below the horizon is Jupiter--referred to as the planet of the Messiah by the Jews. It is below the horizon at about the same distance as Regulus and Venus are above the horizon. In other words will the Christ angle below the horizon point to Jupiter at dawn? But which dawn is more accurate?
At the dawn of Rosh Hashanah 2017, Jupiter is at the precise Christ angle in the opposite scenario as the day before. Jupiter is below the horizon at 26.3 degrees. Instead of the sun just starting to rise (just starting to break the horizon), the sun's disk is fully risen with the sun still touching the horizon. So the event is truly prime of the morning before Rosh Hashanah. So Rosh Hashanah is directly tied into the phenomena of the Christ angle. On New Year's Day for Kings, the planet of the Messiah (the possible "His star" of the Magi) is at the angle as reflected in the Great Pyramid. It is truly the dawn of a new era. (It can also be looked at in another way. Jupiter will be at the Christ Angle in the western sky at the announcement of Rosh Hashanah in the evening of September 20.)
So as there are opposite Christ angles, it would appear that the pyramid is a map of this event. Jupiter is the suffering Messiah at the descending angle, whereas the “morning star” and glorious king are on the ascending angle. Therefore, the Great Pyramid would be a map of this time when Rosh Hashanah coincides with the dawn meridian of Al Nitak and the positioning of Christ’s representative planets at the Christ angle. What are the odds? It would probably be safe to say that this is practically the only time these alignments could occur in our era.
The alignments suggested by the pyramids are amazing, but what makes it more amazing is the thematic language used. This is actually what led to this discovery. Without the clues of Leo or Regulus, the possibility of a Christ angle at a certain time would not have been investigated. As with all else discovered, the thematic pieces were seen, and then put to the test knowing the unlikely odds. Only a perfect plan would unfold and fit with phenomenal ease against phenomenal odds.
   
But also, think of the biblical themes and think of the similarities here. There is Al Nitak “the wounded one”. There is the Great Pyramid of Al Nitak without its chief cornerstone. There is also Leo and the “Lion of Judah” with Regulus the “King” and Venus the “Morning Star”—all titles for the Messiah who at this marked time seems to be returning. So if the chasquis do not relate to the days in whichever number of days we choose for the months of the year, could it be that the chasquis represent the years themselves?
If each chasqui were to represent a solar year, then each column of three chasquis would represent three revolutions of the sun around the eleven pillar calendar wall and three solar years are equivalent to 1 x Muisca Acrotom year of 37 synodic months of 29.53 days and also equivalent to 2 x Muisca Zocam years of 20 sidereal months of 27.32 days.
There are fifteen chasquis on each side of the central figure and each block of 15 chasquis would represent fifteen solar years which would be

At the same time of adding one sidereal month to the Zocam sidereal calendar, it also becomes necessary to add one synodic lunar month to the Muisca Acrotom calendar making it 10 x 37 + 1 synodic lunar months to also bring it into line with both the sidereal lunar calendar and the actual solar year.
Each of the sections with fifteen chasquis corresponds to the period of fifteen solar years which Duquesne tells us was one quarter of the great “century” of the Muiscas so to sum up, each block of fifteen chasquis represents fifteen solar years which is 10 Muisca Zocam years or 5 Muisca Acrotom years, the two blocks together make 30 chasquis representing 30 solar years which is 20 Muisca Zocam years or 10 Muisca Acrotom years and 2 x the 30 chasquis gives 60 chasquis representing 60 solar years completing the great “century” of the Muiscas which was therefore, 40 Muisca Zocam years or 20 Muisca Acrotom years.

In 1768, Bode published his popular book, “Anleitung zur Kenntnis des gestirnten Himmels” [Instruction for the Knowledge of the Starry Heavens]. In this book, he described an empirical law on planetary distances, originally found by J.D. Titius (1729-96), now called “Bode’s Law” or “Titius-Bode Law”.
The original formula was:

To find the mean distances of the planets, begin with the following simple sequence of numbers:

The figure of the spiral likewise, is no vain, fortuitous things, but gives completion to the media between bodies that move in right lines, and those that are moved in a circle. For the circle alone, as we have said, is in the inerratic sphere, but the right line in generation. And the spiral is in the planetary region, as having a co-mixture of the periphery and the right line. The motions also according to breadth and according to depth, viz. of the upward and downward, and the oblique motions. Perhaps likewise, the theurgist [Julian] in celebrating time as a spiral form, as both young and old, directed his attention to this, conceiving that the temporal periods, were especially to be known through the motions of the planets. With these things however, not only Plato as we have observed, but theurgists likewise accord. For they celebrate time as a mundane God, eternal, boundless, young and old, and of a spiral form. And besides this also, as having its essence in eternity, as abiding always the same, and as possessing infinite power. For how could it otherwise comprehend the infinity of apparent time, and circularly lead all things to their former condition, and renovate them, and also recall things which become old through it, to their proper measure, as being at once comprehensive both of things that are moved in a circle, and according to a right line. For a spiral is a thing of this kind; and hence, as I have before observed, time is celebrated by theurgists, as having a spiral form. [trans. Without going into the finer details we may nevertheless take an initial cue from the information provided by Archimedes that :
“the area bounded by the spiral in the first revolution is a sixth part of that added in the second revolution”.
Simply stated, if the first area is 1 (i.e.,unity) then the second area will be 6, the third 12, the fourth 18, and so on, for according to Archimedes:
“generally the areas added in the later revolutions will be multiples of that added in the second revolution according to the successive numbers”,
thus the areas expand by successive multiples of 6.
But what does this have to do with the equiangular period spiral as derived in the previous section which concerns time and successive heliocentric revolutions?
Since the revolutions in the latter also proceed according to a fixed increment, i.e., by the fundamental period constant associated with the equiangular square and the construction of the spiral itself – Phi 2- we can also obtain successive “areas” from the corresponding periods (as “radii”) from the Phi-series planetary framework. And as it so happens, the “areas” pertaining to the planetary positions also expand in a uniform manner – not by 6 as given by Archimedes – but by a constant factor of 6.854101966 (Phi 4) instead, and thus 6 may (or may not) be considered a simplified approximation for the latter.
But however one looks at it, the number “6″ is undoubtedly of importance in Pythagorean contexts while a similar weight appears to have been placed – either directly or indirectly – on the numbers 6, 12 and 18 by Plato in the Epinomis, in the Timaeus, and elsewhere. And here we might also recall that with respect to the equiangular period spiral (with notable exceptions) that the heliocentric distances occur at the 60 and 300-degree points, thus a six-fold division is also a feature of the basic configuration.
So what indeed is Archimedes referring to here? One can hardly be certain at this stage, but from what we have seen so far, one might begin to suspect that these seemingly simple operations are neither numerology nor primitive mathematics, but something quite different. It may well be that it is not common practice to treat time in radial form per se, but then again, we are not used to working with such an all-encompassing, complex entity as this particular equiangular spiral either. But if we are not dealing with numerology and elementary mathematics in this context, then what are dealing with? It may be too early to be definitive, but it is beginning to look more and more like highly condensed, competent methodology clothed in disarmingly simple terms.

The history of the star: Alnitak

 Zeta (ζ) Orion, Alnitak, is a triple star, 2.5, 6.5, and 9, topaz yellow, light purple, and gray, on the east end on the Great Hunter's waist.
Alnitak, or Alnitah, for this, the lowest and the eastern-most star in the Belt, is from Al Nitak, the Girdle.
This star along with Alnilam and Mintaka form the Belt of Orion.

Epsilon (ε Alnilam), zeta (ζ Alnitak), and delta (δ Mintaka), form the Belt of Orion.
One of the most obvious features people see in the sky is the three stars that form the "belt" across the middle of Orion; three stars in a row that appear to us of almost equal size and of equal distance from each other; Mintaka, the westernmost star in the belt, comes from the Arabic word for "belt", Alnilam, the center star in the belt, means "a belt of pearls" and Alnitak, the eastern-most star, means the girdle.
These Arabian titles of delta (δ), epsilon (ε), and zeta (ζ), although now applied to them individually, were at first indiscriminately used for the three together; but they had other names also,— Al Nijad, the Belt; Al Nasak, the Line; Al Alkat, the Golden Grains, Nuts, or Spangles; and Fakar al Jauzah, the Vertebrae in the Jauzah's (Orion's) back. Niebuhr cited the modern Arabic Al Mizan al H-akk, the Accurate Scale-beam, so distinguishing them from the curved line of the fainter c, theta (θ), iota (ι), d, and kappa (κ), Al Mizan al Batil, the False Scale-beam. The Chinese similarly knew them as a Weighing-beam, with the stars of the sword as a weight at one end.
They were the Jugula and Jugulae of Plautus, Varro, and others in Roman literature; the Balteus, or Belt, and the Vagina, or Scabbard, of Germanicus. The Zona of Ovid (43 B.C.-18?A.D.) may have been taken from the Zone of Aristotle.
The early Hindus called them Isus Trikanda, the Three-jointed Arrow; but the later transferred to it the nakshatra (Hindu Moon Mansion) title, Mrigashiras.
The Sogdian Iranian Rashnawand and the Khorasmian (east of Persia) Khawiya have significations akin to our word "Rectitude," which this straight line of stars personified. The Rabbi Isaac Israel said that it was the Mazzaroth, Mazzaloth, or Mazlatha that most of his nation applied to the zodiac.
The Italian astronomer Riccioli (1598-1671) cited Baculus Jacobi, which became in popular English speech Jacob's Rod or Staff,—the German Jakob Stab,— from the tradition given by Eusebius that Israel was an astrologer, as, indeed, he doubtless was; and some had it Peter's Staff. Similarly, it was the Norse Fiskikallar, or Staff; the Scandinavian Frigge Rok, Frigg's, or Freya's, Distaff,— in West Gothland Frigge Rakken,— and Maria Rok, Mary's Distaff; in Schleswig, Peri-pik. In Lapland it was altered to Kalevan Miekka, Kaleva's Sword, or still more changed to Niallar, a Tavern; while the Greenlanders had a very different figure here,— Siktut, the Seal-hunters, bewildered when lost at sea, and transferred together to the sky.
The native Australians knew the stars as Young Men dancing a corroboree, the Pleiades being the Maidens playing for them; and the Poignave Indians of the Orinoco, according to Von Humboldt, as Fuebot, a word that he said resembled the Phoenician.
The University of Leipsic, in 1807, gave to the Belt and the stars in the Sword the new title Napoleon, which a retaliating Englishman offset by Nelson; but neither of these has been recognized on star-maps or globes.
{p.316} Seamen have called it the Golden Yard-arm; tradesmen, the L, or Ell, the Ell and Yard, the Yard-stick, and the Yard-wand, as occupying 3° between the outer stars,— the Elwand of Gavin Douglas; Catholics, Our Lady's Wand; and the husbandmen of France and along the Rhine, Rateau, the Rake. In Upper Germany it has been the Three Mowers; and it is often the Magi, the Three Kings, the Three Marys, or simply the Three Stars, that Tennyson had in his Princess,—
"those three stars of the airy Giants' zone
That glitter burnished by the frosty dark."
The celestial equator now passes through the Belt, but was 12° below it 4000 years ago.

The astrological influences of the constellation Orion
Legend: The giant Orion was created out of an ox-hide by the Gods, Jupiter, Neptune and Mercury, at the request of Hyreus who had entertained them. He was blinded by Oenopion (the name means "wine-faced") for having raped Merope, Oenopion's daughter, but recovered his sight by exposing his eyes to the rising sun. In consequence of his boast that he could slay any beast bred upon the earth the scorpion (Scorpius) was brought forth and Orion died from its sting. [Robson*, p.55.]
Influences: According to Ptolemy the bright stars with the exception of Betelgeuze and Bellatrix are like Jupiter and Saturn. It is said to give a strong and dignified nature, self-confidence, inconstancy, arrogance, violence, impiety, prosperity in trade and particularly by voyages or abroad, but danger of treachery and poison. It was thought by the Romans to be very harmful to cattle and productive of storms. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Aleph and the 1st Tarot Trump "The Juggler." The astrological influences of the star Alnitak
General influence of the Cingula Orionis (Orion's Belt): The joint influence is to give strength, energy, industry, organizing abilities, notoriety, good fortune, lasting happiness, a sharp mind and a good memory. [Robson*, p.156.]
When rising, Alnilam, together with Alnitak and Mintaka, portend irreligious and treacherous individuals. These stars in medieval times were said to presage those who were "passionately devoted to hunting, but not noble hunting with falcon or bow". Aspected by Saturn, the indications are for excellent fishermen, and in a female chart, any of these three stars rising or aspected by both Mars and a benefic portend a shrew. “Three Of My Favorite Stars With Really Nifty Names”

The three stars which make up the belt in the constellation Orion—Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka—are commonly called the Belt Stars.

Alnitak is about 25 times the diameter of our Sun, Alnilam 30 times, and Mintaka 20 times the diameter of our Sun.

ORION
En las noches invernales podemos observar numerosas constelaciones con estrellas muy brillantes, entre todas ellas destaca la que es para muchos la más hermosa de todas ellas, ORION. Constelación ideal para empezar una observación en estos meses de invierno y repleta de objetos interesantes para observar, visibles con la ayuda de un pequeño telescopio e incluso de unos prismáticos.
MITOLOGIA
 Según la mitología griega Orión fue un mortal "engendrado" por tres dioses, Zeus, Hermes y Poseidón, creció hasta hacerse un gigante que podía caminar por el fondo del mar con la cabeza y los hombros por encima del nivel del agua, esta metáfora marinera intuye las dimensiones cósmicas de esta constelación, ocupando más de 15 grados de firmamento, con astros de primera magnitud. Orión fue mortal y como tal, le hirieron el amor, la vida y la muerte, tras muchas desgracias amorosas fue muerto por Apolo hermano de Artemisa, la cual estaba enamorada de Orión, quizá para defender la virtud de su hermana o simplemente que estaba celoso, como tantos hermanos, ¡quién sabe!, Orión murió y los dioses lo elevaron al cielo.
En invierno cuando la veda esta levantada le vemos cazando La Liebre (Lepus, al sur de Orión) con sus dos perros, el Can Mayor (Canis Major) y el Can Menor (Canis Minor), o peleando con El Toro (Taurus). Otra leyenda dice que Orión era un gran cazador y que la madre Tierra, para defender a las alimañas puso al Escorpión (Scorpius) para que acabara con su vida, y por eso Orión desaparece cuando el Escorpión asoma por el horizonte, los sumerios veían a su dios Ningirsu, que era un temible guerrero, los árabes le llamaron Al Gabbar (gigante), y anteriormente a todos ellos para los egipcios era el gran Onuris, cazador y exterminador de fieras, con el que tiene cierta afinidad fonética, quizás los griegos se vieron influenciados por él.
OBSERVACION
Varias estrellas destacan en esta constelación:
a Orionis (Betelgeuse, "Beit-al-Gueze" nombre árabe que significa "la axila del gigante" y que es efectivamente lo que representa) esta estrella es una gigante roja, sus dimensiones fluctúan entre 300 y 400 veces el diámetro de nuestro Sol, si la situáramos donde se encuentra éste la Tierra se encontraría dentro de su atmósfera, además su brillo es variable entre 0,4 y 0,9 magnitudes y se encuentra a una distancia de 520 a.l.
g Orionis, (Bellatrix, la estrella de las Amazonas), el otro hombro de Orión, de color azulado y de 1,6 m., su distancia es de 500 a.l., la radiación de Bellatrix demuestra ser suficiente para iluminar los velos gaseosos que se encuentran en la vasta región que ocupa la constelación.
b Orionis (Rigel, también nombre de origen árabe "Rijil-al-Jauzah" que quiere decir pierna izquierda) esta estrella es la más brillante de la constelación con una magnitud de 0,1. Como Betelgeuse también es una supergigante, pero ésta es de color blanco-azulado, situada a 900 a.l., si Rigel estuviera a una distancia de 9 a.l. de nosotros, la veríamos brillar en el cielo con la misma luminosidad que la Luna en cuarto creciente.
Rigel tiene una compañera de la 7ª magnitud y con una separación angular de 9", es visible con un pequeño telescopio de 80 mm. de abertura, aunque no sin dificultad ya que el brillo de la estrella principal dificulta su visión, además esta compañera de Rigel es una binaria espectroscópica.
k Orionis (Saiph) estrella también de color blanco, casi tan luminosa como Rigel pese a encontrarse a más de 2000 a.l., mediante cálculos se ha llegado a saber que esta estrella fue hace un millón de años la estrella más brillante del firmamento, equiparable a Venus, porque se encontraba mucho más cerca de nosotros.
Tres estrellas brillantes de segunda magnitud componen el cinturón de Orión, también llamado las "tres Marías", e Ori (Alnilam), d Ori (Mintaka) y q Ori (Alnitak), épsilon y zeta se encuentran aproximadamente a la misma distancia de nosotros unos 1.200 a.l., mientras que delta se encuentra a 1.500 a.l., y su luz tiene que atravesar las ingentes nubes de materia interestelar que hay en esta región del cielo, fue precisamente en esta estrella donde se obtuvieron pruebas evidentes de que el vacío interestelar no era el reino absoluto del universo, sino que por el contrario existen vastas regiones polvo y gas interestelar. Mintaka es una estrella triple siendo una de sus compañeras espectroscópica y la otra detectable fácilmente con un pequeño telescopio, a una distancia de 53" de arco.
e Ori (Alnilam) es una supergigante azul se aleja de nosotros a una velocidad de 28 km./s. , el tercer miembro es z Ori con una magnitud de 1,8 astro gemelo a e Ori, distancia, clase espectral y luminosidad, estrella triple con una compañera de 5,5 m a 3" y una segunda de 10 m., a un grado de zeta Ori se encuentra la nebulosa Cabeza de Caballo visible solamente por medios fotográficos. Sigma Ori cerca de zeta Ori es un sistema estelar séxtupla, a simple vista tiene una magnitud de cuatro, con la ayuda de un pequeño telescopio se pueden observar parte de sus compañeras como pequeñas lunas alrededor de un planeta. Toda esta zona de Orión es muy gratificante para la observación telescópica.
Debajo del cinturón se encuentra la "Espada de Orión", que contiene a la Gran Nebulosa M42, distante de nosotros más de 1.000 a.l., es un autentico horno de estrellas donde están naciendo de las ingentes nubes de polvo y gas que se encuentran en esta parte de la galaxia. A simple vista puede apreciarse como una simple mancha neblinosa, con x7 ó x8,5 M42 aparece en el mismo campo que el Cinturón y ya es posible comenzar a distinguir algunas estrellas y lo x20 descubren el Trapecio, la famosa estrella múltiple theta Ori con magnitudes de 5,1, 6,7, 6,7 y 8,0 dispuestas en forma de trapecio, responsable del brillo de la nebulosa.
Toda esta área es un complejo de nebulosidades y estrellas calientes jóvenes que en conjunto forman la daga de Orión, en la parte inferior de M42 se encuentra la estrella iota Ori, gigante azul-blanca de 3ª magnitud con una compañera de 7 ª visible con telescopios poco potentes, es la estrella más brillante de la daga, también cerca de iota Ori se encuentra Struve 747 un par de estrellas de 5ª y 6ª m, fácilmente separables con un telescopio pequeño, M 42 es relativamente joven no tiene más de 30.000 años.
Por encima de M42 se encuentra una pequeña mancha brumosa, NGC 1977 que contiene la estrella 42 Ori de 5ª m, más lejos al norte unos prismáticos ponen de manifiesto la existencia de NGC 1981, un puñado de estrellas dispersas de 6ª m que marcan el extremo norte de la empuñadura de la daga.
Aunque parezca increíble no se tienen registros de M42 de la antigüedad, a pesar de que es un objeto que se puede apreciar perfectamente a simple vista, incluso Galileo que examinó la constelación con sus catalejos no citó nunca la Nebulosa de Orión. Fue en el año 1611, cuando Nicola Peiresc la examinó por primera vez, posteriormente ha sido fruto de muchos estudios, y en la actualidad el telescopio espacial Hubble ha escudriñado innumerables veces las nubes de gas y polvo que se encuentran en esta región.
Por último al oeste de Orión nos encontramos con un grupo de estrellas en forma de arco, que representan según la mitología la piel de carnero que el cazador lleva en la mano izquierda, o el escudo con el que se protege del ataque del Toro (Taurus), son seis estrellas que van desde la magnitud 3,2 de pi 3 a la 4,5 de pi 6, la numeración dada por los antiguos astrónomos a estas estrellas no se corresponde con el brillo actual. Cerca de pi 6 se encuentra una estrella variable W Ori, con una variación de brillo de 5,3 a 7,7 y con un período de 212 días. Es una estrella más roja que Betelgeuse, pero como aparenta ser más débil el color destaca menos incluso con prismáticos.

 En el Antiguo Egipto una de las constelaciones más fácilmente identificables era la que conocían con el nombre de Sah. Este nombre ya aparece en el complejo de las pirámides de Sakkara y era la que los egipcios identificaban con Osiris.
A finales del siglo XX, una teoría formulada por el investigador Robert Bauval, afirmaba que el emplazamiento de las tres pirámides más famosas del mundo, en Gizah, Egipto, tenían una correlación exacta con la constelación de Sah, que no es otra que la que hoy conocemos como Orión. El Cinturón de Orión es familiarmente llamado en América latina “Las Tres Marías” y según esta teoría, las pirámides de Keops, Kefrén y Micerinos son el reflejo en la Tierra de estas estrellas en el cielo. Quizás para demostrar a la posteridad el conocimiento astronómico de ese pueblo o tal vez como respuesta a un regalo de los cielos.
El Cinturón de Orión es un cúmulo de la constelación del mismo nombre y está formado por tres estrellas principales que se llaman Alnitak, Alnilam y Mintaka. Son estrellas de primera y segunda magnitud, excepcionalmente brillantes y muchísimo más grandes que nuestro Sol.
Mintaka es la más occidental de las tres estrellas y la más tenue. Está situada a unos 915 años luz de nosotros, casi la misma distancia de Alnitak, que es la del otro extremo. En el medio está Alnilam, que es la más alejada del sistema solar, pero es la más grande y la más brillante de las tres. Dista de nosotros 1359 años luz y para la cultura guaraní, alejada de los egipcios en tiempo y territorio, era la madre de las otras dos. Es 26 veces más grande que el Sol e irradia una luminosidad 375.000 veces más potente que nuestro astro rey. Alrededor de estas tres bellezas, y aunque no las podamos ver a simple vista, se sitúan 125 estrellas más que forman el cúmulo estelar Collinder 70.
 
Por su parte Alnitak, la tercera estrella de las Tres Marías, es 100.000 veces más brillante que el Sol y el calor que irradia podría derretir todo nuestro sistema si estuviera a la misma distancia que se sitúa nuestro astro principal de nosotros.
El Cinturón de Orión o Las Tres Marías se ve desde todos los puntos de nuestro planeta y han sido conocidas por todos las civilizaciones. Los mayas la conocían como “Las Tres Piedras del Fogón”, los guaraníes les decían “Las Tres Viudas”, los árabes le llamaban “El Collar de Perlas”… Para los egipcios este era el lugar de reposo del alma de Osiris, el dios del submundo y un símbolo de la creatividad y de la continuidad de la vida.
Las Tres Marías son, sin duda, uno de las figuras que nos regala el Universo y que han sido desde nuestra propia infancia una imagen fácilmente identificable cada vez que levantamos la cabeza y observamos el cielo infinito, al igual que lo hicieron antes los egipcios, los mayas, los griegos, los romanos, los vikingos… Más allá de los siglos, si levantamos la vista aún podemos ver y admirar lo mismo que vieron y respetaron ellos.

El Cinturón de Orión
Alnitak, Alnilam, y Mintaka son los nombres de las brillantes estrellas azuladas que de este a oeste (de izquierda a derecha) cruzan en diagonal este espléndido campo cósmico: (clic en la imagen para ampliarla a 900 x 600 píxeles o verla mucho más grande). Las tres estrellas azules supergigantes, también conocidas como el Cinturón de Orión, son más calientes y mucho más masivas que el Sol. Todas se encuentran aproximadamente a 1500 años-luz de nosotros, ya que se formaron en las muy bien estudiadas nubes interestelares de esa constelación. De hecho, las nubes de gas y polvo que se muevan a la deriva por esta región adoptan formas enigmáticas y algunas hasta sorprendentemente familiares, como la Nebulosa de la Llama y la Nebulosa Cabeza de Caballo, situadas a la izquierda y debajo, respectivamente, de Alnitak. Por su parte, la famosa Nebulosa de Orión se encuentra por debajo de este campo estelar de 4,5 x 3,5 grados. Esta fotografía se tomó el mes pasado desde Suiza con una cámara fotográfica digital adosada a un pequeño telescopio. Es más fiel a la percepción humana de los colores que la siguiente imagen, compuesta y más detallada, realizada hace más de 15 años: Esta composición en color se realizó a partir de placas fotográficas en blanco y negro digitalizadas, las que fueron registradas a través de filtros astrónomicos de color rojo y azul, más un canal verde sintetizado por computadora.
