Provincia de San Marcos

La Provincia de San Marcos es una de las trece que conforman el Departamento de Cajamarca, perteneciente a la Región Cajamarca, en el Perú.
Limita al norte con la provincia de Celendín, al este con la Región La Libertad, al sur con la provincia de Cajabamba y al oeste con la provincia de Cajamarca.
División administrativa [editar]
La provincia tiene una extensión de 1.362,32 kilómetros cuadrados y se divide en siete distritos.
La Provincia de San Marcos, pertenece al Departamento de Cajamarca y está ubicada al sur-este del mismo. Abarca una superficie de 1.362,32 km2 y está habitada por unas 50.275 personas según el censo de 1993; esto representa el 4% de la población total del departamento, por otro lado, se sabe, que la mayor parte de pobladores pertenecen a la zona rural (41.929; lo que constituye un 83,39% de la población total).
La provincia sanmarquina comprende altitudes que van desde los 1.500 hasta los 4.156 msnm, en ella se puede distinguir tanto valles interandinos como zonas de jalca y puna y una gran diversidad de microclimas que lo convierten en una zona atractiva y muy especial para los visitantes.
La provincia tiene una población aproximada de 53 000 habitantes.
Gastronomía [editar]
Los platos típicos en San Marcos se cultivan gran variedad de productos alimenticios, los mismos que forman parte de variados y nutritivos platos típicos, aunque en muchos de los casos no son propios, poseen cierta peculiaridad que los hacen distinguir.
Es el más representativo de la provincia y se sirve en ocasiones especiales. Está preparado a base de papa guisada o aderezada y cuy frito, acompañado de arroz de trigo o trigo pelado cocinado.
Es preparado con repollo, granos de arrozcarne de cerdo o tocino. Es un platillo característico de las fiestas rurales y por lo general se lo sirve acompañado yuca y camote sancochado además de la famosa cancha de maíz.
Es un plato preparado con mote aderezado, acompañado de sopa de chochoca espesa y los conocidos discos o cachangas. Este plato también se suele servir en los velorios.
Es un potaje muy nutritivo preparado con trigo al que previamente se lo ruche o quita la cáscara; también lleva menestra (por lo general arveja) y algún tipo de carne.
Es un plato preparado en base a mote (maíz pelado) y frijol seco. Es muy delicioso y nutritivo, la mayoría de amas de casa lo acompaña con tocino o pata de res y al servir se adorna con yerba buena picada.
El trigo tostado y molido va a acompañar un aderezo y de esta manera dar lugar a un delicioso plato que se acostumbra mucho para los trabajos comunales en el Distrito de Gregorio Pita - Paucamarca.
La capital de la provincia es la ciudad de San Marcos.
Se identifica una gran variedad climática, desde cálido – seco hasta sub – húmedo y frío; siendo notoria la diferencia de temperaturas mínimas y máximas o nocturnas y diurnas. Tiene como límites climáticos una temperatura promedio anual de 18-30ºC para el caso de los valles interandinos, de 15-20ºC en la zona quechua y de 8-15ºC en la zona de jalca.
La precipitación promedio anual varía de 600 a 800mm y la humedad relativa es de 60-70% de acuerdo a la estación.
Los vientos predominan de julio a setiembre, la época de lluvia se presenta en los meses de octubre a abril y el verano de mayo a setiembre

Independencia del Perú

La Independencia del Perú corresponde a toda una época de levantamientos y conflicto bélico que propició la independencia política y el surgimiento de la República Peruana como un estado independiente de la monarquía española, resultado de la ruptura política y del ocaso del Virreinato del Perú.Con la convergencia de diversas fuerzas liberadoras y la acción de sus propios hijos.
A lo largo del siglo XVIII, diversas fueron las manifestaciones indígenas respecto al trato de las autoridades coloniales, algunas de las cuales devinieron en auténticas rebeliones. La aplicación de las reformas borbónicas incrementó la desazón y la inconformidad tuvo su pico en la revolución de Túpac Amaru II, la cual desembocó en la represión de aquella revuelta aunque permaneció latente el germen del descontento indígena. Al acaecer las Abdicaciones de Bayona, diversos puntos de la América española crearon juntas autónomas de gobierno, sin pretender cambiar el orden colonial. Fue entonces que el virrey Abascal hizo del Ejército Real del Perú y del virreinato peruano la base de la contrarrevolución sobre el Alto Perú, Quito y Chile. Los primeras rebeliones autónomas peruanas surgieron desde 1811 en este contexto de descontento indígena y colaboración criolla con la revolución rioplatense.
En 1820, la Expedición Libertadora procedente de Chile desembarcó en el Perú bajo el mando del general José de San Martín. Éste proclamó en Lima la independencia del Estado peruano (1821) y bajo su Protectorado se formó el primer Congreso Constituyente del país. Retirado San Martín del país, el flamante Estado sostuvo una guerra contra los realistas de resultado incierto hasta 1824, año en que tuvieron lugar las campañas de Junín y Ayacucho bajo el mando del Libertador Simón Bolívar. La victoria de Ayacucho concluyó con la capitulación del ejército realista y puso fin al virreinato del Perú.
La independencia del Perú fue otro capítulo importante en las guerras de independencia hispanoamericanas. Finalmente en 1825 México consigue la capitulación del bastión español de San Juan de Ulúa en América del norte. Ése mismo año concluye la campaña de Sucre en el Alto Perú y seguidamente, en 1826, caen los reductos españoles del Callao y Chiloé en América del sur. España renuncia en 1836 a todos sus dominios continentales americanos.[3]
Lo que hay que destacar son tres aspectos, en lo político se cortó la dependencia de España; en lo económico se mantuvo la dependencia de Europa y en lo social el despojo de tierras a indígenas se acentuó en la era republicana.[4] "El empleado doméstico indígena fue tratado como un animal, incluso en las primeras décadas del siglo XX. [Hoy] contra este grupo se cometen abusos legales de manera cotidiana"[5] La ciudadanía abierta en Perú se consiguió en el siglo XX.En pleno siglo XXI, se sigue luchando por una sociedad, genuinamente democrática, y, que sea posible: la plena garantía y el respeto de los derechos humanos.[6]

Ophir

Not to be confused with Orphir. Ophir (/ˈoʊ.fɜr/;[1] Hebrew: אוֹפִיר, Modern Ofir Tiberian ʼÔp̄îr) is a port or region mentioned in the Bible, famous for its wealth. King Solomon is supposed to have received a cargo of gold, silver, sandalwood, precious stones, ivory, apes and peacocks from Ophir, every three years.
Biblical references [edit]
Ophir in Genesis 10 (the Table of Nations) is said to be the name of one of the sons of Joktan.[Note 1] The Books of Kings and Chronicles tell of a joint expedition to Ophir by King Solomon and the Tyrian king Hiram I from Eziongeber, a port on the Red Sea, that brought back large amounts of gold, precious stones and 'algum wood' and of a later failed expedition by king Jehoshaphat of Judah.[Note 2] The famous 'gold of Ophir' is referenced in several other books of the Hebrew Bible.[Note 3]
Early Christian traditions [edit]
Details about the three of Joktan's sons, Sheba, Ophir and Havilah, were preserved in a tradition known in divergent forms from three early Christian (pre-Islamic) sources: the Arabic Kitab al-Magall (part of Clementine literature), the Syriac Cave of Treasures, and the Ethiopic Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan.
The Kitab al-Magall states that in the days of Reu, a king of Saba (Sheba) named "Pharoah" annexed Ophir and Havilah to his kingdom, and "built Ophir with stones of gold, for the stones of its mountains are pure gold."
In the Cave of Treasures, this appears as: "And the children of Ophir, that is, Send, appointed to be their king Lophoron, who built Ophir with stones of gold; now, all the stones that are in Ophir are of gold."
The version in the Conflict of Adam and Eve says: "Phar’an reigned over the children of Saphir [Ophir], and built the city of Saphir with stones of gold; and that is the land of Sarania, and because of these stones of gold, they say that the mountains of that country and the stones thereof are all of gold."
Archaeology [edit]
In 1946 an inscribed pottery shard was found at Tell Qasile (in modern-day Tel Aviv) dating to the eighth century BC.[2][3] It bears, in Paleo-Hebrew script the text "gold of Ophir to/for Beth-Horon [...] 30 shekels"[Note 4][4] The find confirms that Ophir was a place where gold was imported from,[5] although its location remains unknown.
Theorized or conjectural locations [edit]
Africa [edit]
Biblical scholars, archaeologists and others have tried to determine the exact location of Ophir. Vasco da Gama's companion Tomé Lopes reasoned that Ophir would have been the ancient name for Great Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe, the main center of sub-African trade in gold in the Renaissance period — though the ruins at Great Zimbabwe are now dated to the medieval era, long after Solomon is said to have lived. The identification of Ophir with Sofala in Mozambique was mentioned by Milton in Paradise Lost (11:399-401), among many other works of literature and science.
Another possibility is the African shore of the Red Sea, with the name perhaps being derived from the Afar people of Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti.
Afri was a Latin name used to refer to the Carthaginians, who dwelt in North Africa, in modern-day Tunisia. This name, from which the name of the continent Africa is ultimately derived, seems to have referred to a native Libyan tribe originally, however, see Terence#Biography for discussion. The name is usually connected with Phoenician afar, "dust", but a 1981 hypothesis[6] has asserted that it stems from the Berber word ifri (plural ifran) meaning "cave", in reference to cave dwellers.[7] This is proposed[7] to be the origin of Ophir as well.[8]
Americas [edit]
On the other hand, the theologian Benito Arias Montano (1571) proposed finding Ophir in the name of Peru, reasoning that the native Peruvians were thus descendants of Ophir and Shem. He also claimed, that the province of Iucatan, had the same name that Ioktan father of Ophir.
Proponents of pre-Columbian connections between Eurasia and the Americas have suggested even more distant locations such as modern-day Peru or Brazil.
In the 19th century Max Müller and other scholars identified Ophir with Abhira, at the mouth of the Indus River in modern-day Pakistan. According to Benjamin Walker Ophir is said to have been a town of the Abhira tribe.[9][10] Most modern scholars still place Ophir either on the coast of either Pakistan or India, in what is now Poovar, or somewhere in southwest Arabia in the region of modern Yemen. This is also the assumed location of Sheba.
A more specific possibility is Southern India or Northern Sri Lanka, where the Dravidians were well known for their gold, ivory and peacocks. A dictionary of the Bible by Sir William Smith published in 1863,[11] notes the Hebrew word for peacock Thukki, derived from the Classical Tamil for peacock Thogkai joins other Classical Tamil words for ivory, cotton-cloth and apes preserved in the Hebrew Bible. This theory of Ophir's location in Tamilakkam is further supported by other historians.[12][13][14] Ophir, referring to the country of the port Tarshish may well refer to the nation of the Tamil Velir-Naga tribe Oviyar in ancient Jaffna, who lived around the famous port towns of Mantai and Kudiramalai, home to the historic Thiruketheeswaram temple.
Easton's Bible Dictionary (1897) adds a connection to "Sofir," the Coptic name for India. Josephus connected it with "Cophen, an Indian river, and in part of Asia adjoining to it," (Antiquities of the Jews I:6), sometimes associated with a part of Afghanistan.
In a book found in Spain entitled Collecion General de Documentos Relativos a las Islas Filipinas, the author has described how to locate Ophir. According to the section "Document No. 98", dated 1519-1522, Ophir can be found by travelling from the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, to India, to Burma, to Sumatra, to Moluccas, to Borneo, to Sulu, to China, then finally Ophir. Ophir was said to be "[...] in front of China towards the sea, of many islands where the Moluccans, Chinese, and Lequios met to trade..." Jes Tirol asserts that this group of islands could not be Japan because the Moluccans did not get there, nor Taiwan, since it is not composed of "many islands." Only the present-day Philippines, he says, could fit the description. Spanish records also mention the presence of Lequious (big, bearded white men, probably descendants of the Phoenicians, whose ships were always laden with gold and silver) in the Islands to gather gold and silver.[15] Other evidence has also been pointed out suggesting that the Philippines was the biblical Ophir.[16][17][18][19]
Other & Mythology [edit]
Other assumptions vary as widely as the theorized locations of Atlantis. Portuguese mythology locates it in Ofir, a place in Fão, Esposende. The Bavarian antiquarian Aventinus (c. 1530) implied it to be Epirus, on the Balkan Adriatic coast.
In 1568 Alvaro Mendaña discovered the Solomon Islands, and named them as such because he believed them to be Ophir.[20]
Author on topics in alternative history David Hatcher Childress goes so far as to suggest that Ophir was located in Australia; proposing that the cargoes of gold, silver and precious stones were obtained from mines in the continent's north-west, and that ivory, sandalwood and peacocks were obtained in South Asia on the voyage back to Canaan.[21]
Former Israeli settlement [edit]
The Israeli settlement created in the 1970s at Sharm el-Sheikh in Sinai was called Ofira (אופירה), Hebrew for "Towards Ophir" - since its location on the Red Sea was on the route supposedly traversed by King Solomon's ships en route to Ophir.
The settlement was evacuated in 1982, under the terms of the Israeli-Egyptian Peace Treaty, and the name fell out of use.

Charles Beadle published a three-part serial, The Land of Ophir, in the pulp magazine Adventure, issues of March 10, 20, & 30, 1922.
Ophir is also a kingdom in Robert Howard's Conan the Barbarian series of stories; see Hyborian Age for more information.
Several of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan novels happen in and around the lost city of Opar, deep in the African jungles — with Opar evidently being another name for Ophir. The city appears in The Return of Tarzan (1913), Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar (1916), Tarzan and the Golden Lion (1923), and Tarzan the Invincible (1930).
Philip José Farmer took up the theme from the Tarzan books and wrote two books of his own, taking place in Opar at the height of its glory thousands of years ago: Hadon of Ancient Opar and Flight to Opar.
Wilbur Smith's novel The Sunbird is set in ancient Ophir (called Opet) and its modern ruins.
Ophir is the name of the Nordic Utopia in M. M. Scherbatov's 1784 novel "Putishestvie v zemliu ofirskuiu" ("Voyage to Ophir").
Clive Cussler's The Navigator places the mines of Ophir on the eastern seaboard of the United States, postulating a pre-Columbian voyage by the Phoenicians.
Ophir is also referenced in Alexander Dumas's book The Count of Monte Cristo. "...but these two tears disappeared almost immediately, God doubtless having sent some angel to gather them as being more precious in His eyes than the richest pearls of Gujarat or Ophir."
John Masefield's poem "Cargoes" is about Solomon's trade with Ophir.

Following excerpts are recorded in the Bible, regarding Ophir, the building of the Temple and the Palace: "So, Hiram produced to Solomon cedar and cypress timber as he desired." 1King: 5 (10) "(And when king Hiram's ships brought gold to Solomon's from Ophir, they also brought along a great supply of 2algum trees and gems.1King: 10 (11) Solomon used the algum wood to make pillars for the Temple and palace, and for harps and harpsichords for his choirs. Never before or since has there been such a supply of beautiful woods.)" 1King: 10(12) "King Solomon had a shipyard in Eizorngeber, near Eloth, on the Red Sea, in the land of Edom, where he build a fleet of ship." 1 King: 9 (26) "King Hiram supplied experienced sailors to accompany Solomon's crew. Locating Ophir remains a matter for speculation and continues to draw the attention of scholars, biblical scientists and even laymen alike, even to this day. This past Saturday A 4,000-year-old temple filled with murals has been unearthed on the northern coast of Peru, making it one of the oldest finds in the Americas.The article goes on to say; The temple, inside a larger ruin, includes a staircase that leads up to an altar used for fire worship at a site scientists have called Ventarron, said Peruvian archaeologist Walter Alva, who led the dig. It sits in the Lambayeque valley, near the ancient Sipan complex that Alva unearthed in the 1980s. Ventarron was built long before Sipan, about 2,000 years before Christ, he said. "It's a temple that is about 4,000 years old," Alva, director of the Museum Tumbas Reales (Royal Tombs) of Sipan, told Reuters by telephone after announcing the results of carbon dating at a ceremony north of Lima sponsored by Peru's government. "What's surprising are the construction methods, the architectural design and most of all the existence of murals that could be the oldest in the Americas," he said. Lambayeque is 472 miles from Lima, Peru's capital. Discoveries at Sipan, an administrative and religious center of the Moche culture, have included a gold-filled tomb built 1,700 years ago for a pre-Incan king. Peru is rich in archaeological treasures, including the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in the Andes. Until the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500s, the Incas ruled an empire for several centuries that stretched from Colombia and Ecuador in the north to what are now Peru and Chile in the south. La Virgen de la Merced o Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes es una de las advocaciones marianas de la Bienaventurada Virgen María. Es equivalente también el nombre de Virgen de la Misericordia.
En su conmemoración se ha establecido la fiesta de la Merced o de las Mercedes, el día 24 de septiembre.
Se dice que el 1 de agosto de 1218, fiesta del santo fundador Pedro Nolasco tuvo una visita de la Santísima Virgen, dándose a conocer como La Merced, que lo exhortaba a fundar una Orden religiosa con el fin principal de redimir a aquellos cristianos cautivos. En ese momento, la península Ibérica estaba dominada por los musulmanes, y los piratas sarracenos asolaban las costas del Mediterráneo, haciendo miles de cautivos a quienes llevaban al norte de África.
Pedro Nolasco impulsó la creación de la Real y Militar Orden de la Merced, que fue fundada en la Catedral de Barcelona, con el apoyo del rey Jaime I el conquistador, en 1218.
En las primeras Constituciones de la Orden, en 1272, la Orden recibe ya el título de "Orden de la Virgen de la Merced de la Redención de los cristianos cautivos de Santa Eulalia de Barcelona".
En el año 1265 aparecieron las primeras monjas (comendadoras) de la Merced.
Se calcula que fueron alrededor de trescientos mil los redimidos por los frailes mercedarios del cautiverio de los musulmanes.
Los seguidores de la Orden de la Merced estuvieron entre los primeros misioneros de América, en la isla de La Española o República Dominicana.
La devoción a la Virgen de la Merced se difundió muy pronto por Cataluña y por toda España, por Francia y por Italia, a partir del siglo XIII con la labor de redención de estos religiosos y sus cofrades. Con la Evangelización de América, en la que la Orden de la Merced participó desde sus mismos inicios, la devoción se extendió y arraigó profundamente en todo el territorio americano.
La llegada de la orden religiosa de los mercedarios a América, un poco relacionada con el antiguo espíritu de los caballeros que fueron a las Cruzadas a Tierra Santa y juntamente con el culto de la Virgen Compasiva, coincide con el poblamiento de las principales ciudades andinas cercanas a la línea ecuatorial como son: Cuzco, Lima, Quito y la Villaviciosa de la Concepción o San Juan de Pasto no obstante que esta última tenía como patrona religiosa a la Pura y Limpia Concepción como su nombre lo indica. El Convento Mercedario primeramente se funda en Santiago de Cali hacia 1536 y en Pasto hacia 1545 y la iglesia anexa desde 1550, volviéndose muy famoso el ornato de este templo con una puerta labrada con leones dorados en su parte superior, imitando a los que fueron concedidos, junto con el título de ciudad y el sobrenombre de San Juan Bautista, a la Villa de Pasto, es conocida popularmente en San Juan de Pasto como la Michita Linda
Es en el siglo XVIII, de acuerdo al minucioso relato de José Rafael Sañudo, cuando la Virgen de las Mercedes aparece como protectora del Cabildo y pueblo de San Juan de Pasto respecto de erupciones y terremotos y otros eventos naturales dañinos, de hecho empieza a figurar la graciosa imagen como si fuera la que tiene el mando o el gobierno de Pasto. Son la fuerza de la tradición oral así sustentada y, en parte, el sincretismo o mestizaje religioso que la acompaña, los factores por los cuales se puede considerar a la Virgen de las Mercedes como Gobernadora de la Ciudad y no porque alguna autoridad civil en el siglo XX lo haya establecido por decreto. En 1612 se completó el templo de la Merced en Pasto y el trabajo en madera ocupó a los artesanos y escultores Lázaro de Vergara (las dos puertas talladas, tirantes para los alfarjes de tipo mudéjar en la nave y el presbiterio), Rodrigo de Chaves (cantería de la portada y esculturas), el batihoja y doradores Juan de Echeverri, Francisco Gallardo y Francisco Benítez más el tabernáculo de tres cuerpos realizado por Gómez de Rojas en 1660.
Perú es actualmente el país que reúne a la mayor cantidad de fieles de toda América y que cada 24 de septiembre celebran esta fiesta en honor a la Bienaventurada Virgen María.
La devoción a la Virgen de la Merced se difundió en Bolivia, en el departamento de La Paz, donde hoy se le rinde veneración, al año se le cambia 3 veces sus vestiduras, la primera vez que se le cambia es la fecha del 3 de agosto recordando la primera vez que derramó lágrimas, la segunda vez el 24 de septiembre recordando su fiesta y la tercera y última vez en Navidad como regalo a su devoción. El 24 de septiembre en la Iglesia de la Merced se celebra una eucaristía de fiesta, nueve días antes se le reza la novena y al finalizar existe una gran procesión en su honor. En Potosí, se celebra una solemne y lucida fiesta organizada por la Archicofradía de Nuestra Señora de La Merced, institución fundada en 1730 y que llegó a cobijar en el siglo XVIII a 10.000 cofrades.
La iconografía usada para representar a la Virgen de la Merced queda definida a partir del siglo XVI, consistiendo fundamentalmente en el hábito mercedario: túnica, escapulario y capa, todo en color blanco, con en el escudo mercedario en el pecho. Otros elementos recurrentes son las cadenas y el grillete, símbolos también del cautiverio. Normalmente, además del escapulario del hábito, lleva otro pequeño en la mano que ofrece a los fieles.
Suele aparecer tocada con corona de reina, y también con el cetro en la mano derecha. En muchas ocasiones sostiene en la izquierda al Niño Jesús, que también puede llevar un escapulario en las manos. Otro modelo iconográfico es el de la Virgen Comendadora, sedente en el coro, sin niño ni cetro, con las constituciones de la Orden en una mano.

Nestled in the mysterious reaches of the Peruvian desert in the Palpa Mountains is one of the most precise geometric configurations known to man: The Sun-Star, and its “satellite” – the Sun-Cross. This famed Geoglyph has for centuries remained an obscure earthly reflection of ancient calibration – an astronomical wonderment depicting something far and beyond the immediate reach of human understanding…if the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, is to metrologists the Seventh Wonder of the World (still standing) in the Northern Hemisphere – then the Sun-Star of Peru is the “Eighth” World Wonder whose measurements may claim the Southern Hemisphere.
Its checkerboard indentations – so incredibly precise and measureable (Considered as a *Class 1 Geoglyph – the highest degree of precision in construction resulting in straight lines and evenly spaced and proportional symbol elements – most pronounced of the seven categories) – its octagonal shape and massive square overlays – its “wheel within the wheel” and additional circles both in view and imagined – and its dynamic interior – so enigmatic, peculiar, riveting to the attention of astronomer, mathematician, and especially, geometer – let alone archeologist, cosmologist and numerators throughout the world – bring us to conclude, as the late and dedicated Geoglyph researcher, Maria Reiche, did: These earthly objects echoed heavenly realities…they were designed as astronomical calibrations observed in the celestial realms. More specifically, these peculiarities of antiquity mirror not only those dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Sun and Moon but those of the New Jerusalem!
Who could have envisioned such geometric calculations etched into Earth’s most barren plateau to have lasted centuries – some say since 900 BC. Yes, who – but more importantly, why? Why was the design of this Geoglyph so indelible – even mesmerizing to the professional eye, elevated to view its magnificence and possible message? Its difference from all other peculiar Palpa-Nazca Geoglyph is striking – the closest glyph to the Museum of Maria Reiche along the costal route of the Pan American Highway some 200 miles south of Lima, Peru is there for a reason.
The ancients who determined its dimensions used metrologies far and beyond our wildest imagination – their precisions astound – use of measuring instruments calculating heavenly movement and beyond…they, we affirm, saw into the prophetic – knew time and space and somehow, some way, were aware of the Dimensions of Paradise – for the Sun-Star’s duodecimal (12) imprint is so well integrated into their “system.” We are left in utter wonderment that something of this magnitude could not have been left to happenstance. Yes, we conjecture, most certainly, however: Could the designers have known that its reflection magnified the Revelation of the New Jerusalem of John the Beloved, and mirrored the very ratios of the Great Pyramid of Giza? Could it be that the same genius whose architecture has survived as the last Wonder of the World – its Seventh – saw the need for an Eighth – an octagonal Geoglyph to match the octahedron or half octahedron of the Great Pyramid of Giza?
This is not fiction – the Sun-Star/Sun-Cross was chiseled/carved/dug out of the most arid and windless plateau on earth . . . preserving their impress unto the posterity of our time . . . making this most ancient glyph, and the hundreds of others found in the region, a most unique feature of Earth’s antiquities:
“The Nazca Lines (Nasca Lines), are a set of zoomorphic, phytomorphic and geometric figures (lines, triangles, trapezoids, circles, spirals, birds, a spider, a monkey, flowers) that appear engraved in the surface of the Nazca desert, a high arid plateau that stretches 37 miles between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on a large flat area of southern Peru. Decades, yes, centuries – peering into this autostereogram – “designed to create the visual illusion of a three-dimensional (3D) scene from a two-dimensional image in the human brain. In order to perceive 3D shapes in these autostereograms, the brain must overcome the normally automatic coordination between focusing and vergence.” (Wikipedia)…yet, we never could make out the incredible features found in the Sun-Star which bespeak the dimensions of Paradise: The New Jerusalem. The multiplicity of theories staggers the imagination. T.L. Subash Chandira Bose and Jack Andrews in their “A key to unlock the mystery on a Geometrical Nazca Marking” suggest that the design of the Peruvian Sun-Star conforms to Indian (as in modern India) mysticism and derivations of Hinduism. I find their immediate research and prejudice toward Hindu interpretations somewhat fascinating but, sorely lacking in their technologies in viewing the Sun-Star. This may have altered their perceptions and ipso facto their interpretations.
However, one substantive observation which they make is this:
“There is also one more square (actually there are several clearly seen) turned forty-five degree, on one of its sides falls on the line from the right side group of circles at angle forty-five degrees.”
They are alluding to the largest of the rhombi which they call the “hidden green square.” Furthermore, they noticed that there are a total of 81 holes/dots on the crisscrossed squares from whence additional spiritual conjectures can be ascertained. (I will discuss both these points later – the 45° tilt of the rhombi and the fact of the 80 + 1 = 81 dots.) The Hindu interpretation of these dots goes something like this:
“The eighty-one dots represent cells in Graha-Yantra in which the numerals one to nine are distributed [in] such a way so that the additions (vertical, horizontal and diagonal) of these numbers[s] will remain as eighty-one.
“According to Shree. Jaganatha Swamji ‘The number 81 means the creation of [the] universe as 8 is the letter JA and KA is the letter one which forms the letter JAKA- the universe. According to Shree, Jaganatha swamiji ‘The number 33 which actually represent the divine and celestial energies or devas (Mupathu Mukkodi devar- thirty three cores divinities)’.”
However, I am duly grateful to the Bose/Andrews team for pointing out that the rhombus to which they allude (the largest of the possible six rhombi – green in their graphic above) slices through certain “squares” (some made up of “half-squares” due to the 45° slicing of the rhombus through portions of the 144 squares) which number 72 squares within this largest (green) rhombus (or one-half of all 144 smaller squares is 72 and these 72 squares – some of which are “half squares” or triangles due to the slicing of the largest rhombus) – all of which are included within the largest rhombus (i.e., one-half of 144 = 72) – please see my colored graphic below and you can readily observe that there are a total of 72 or one-half of the 144 squares included in the largest rhombus. As a result of their insight – to which I give full credit (though I duly noted it myself later on prior to reading their interpretation) resulted in this astounding calculation:

72 (smaller squares in the largest rhombus) * 360° (per square) = 25,920° and 25,920 is a fractal of the 25,920 years of the Great Precessional/Mazzaroth/Zodiac
Also: 72 = 7 + 2 = 9 and 360 = 3 + 6 = 9 and 9 + 9 = “18” =
18 = the Standard of the New Jerusalem – likewise: 2592 = “18”
Also 25920 * 2 (for 144 squares) = 51,840 = “18” = New Jerusalem Standard
9 = the Cardinal Number for the Sun of Righteousness
Several of the drawings done by the Bose/Andrew’s team deserve merit in that the “33” dots which are highly suggestive – not of Hindu gods – but of the Son of Man Who gave His Life a ransom for us all at age “33” – let alone how that this “33” is interconnected to the 81 dots – that’s a “wow” later on in this mini-series! Sorry, “the divine and celestial energies or devas (Mupathu Mukkodi devar - thirty three cores divinities)” – though a Hindu interest – does not in the sum total of the Sun-Star inter-relate to the overall emphasis seen in its geometric design, a design wholly given over to the New Jerusalem’s dimensions and to the celestial consummation of the Bridegroom and His Bride.
I am persuaded, notwithstanding, all sorts of spurious interpretations regarding the origins of the Sun-Star and attempts to interpret its mysteries, are, in the main, dubious and most superfluous – missing the point entirely (perhaps their obvious origins are assuredly sourced in “ancient metrologies” – to be sure – for the duodecimal system of measurement (based on “12”) is overtly displayed).
The drawing in color (above) and the skeletal drawing (black and white only – two drawings below) highlight the Fourth Square from the center (the so-called 8 x 8 Square) and perhaps the most visible with three each (for a total of 12) crisscrossed squares at its four corners – however, and as you will later see, there is ample room for two additional larger squares beyond the “crisscrossed square” (for a total of 6 “larger squares” creating a 12 by 12 square platform of 144 small “background squares” (i.e., out from the Sun-Star’s center – the first square with a diameter, if you would, of two squares (2 by 2); then the next square with a diameter of four squares (4 by 4); then the next square with a diameter of six squares (6 by 6); then the next square – the “crisscrossed square” – with a diameter of eight squares (8 by 8) and then the two additional squares … the fifth square having a diameter of ten squares (10 by 10) and the final “perimeter square” having its diameter of twelve squares (12 by 12) – thus, creating the 144 square “platform” measuring 26.4’ by 26.4’* (or 316.8’ by 316.8’ – 12 squares by 12 squares = 144 squares). |

Please note there is ample room for two additional concentric circles (as well) beyond the confines of the crisscrossed larger square (the 8 x 8 square) – for a total of 6 concentric circles (all within the six aforementioned squares), as well as a total of 6 total rhombi). My “skeletal drawing” is juxtaposed under the Bose/Andrews team drawings depicting these 18 objects in their symmetries – i.e., six “larger squares” + six concentric circles whose diameters equal the diameters of these six larger squares + six rhombi from the center out (all square rhombi) making the Sun-Star octagonal – 8 pointed star – and these objects as 6 + 6 + 6 = 18 (if you would – “transforming” the 666 – “the number of a man” into the New Jerusalem’s Standard of Measurement: 18 – via, in the main, a vast matrix of triangulations – three-sided objects, connoting the Triune God at work upon Man toward ultimate transformation/transfiguration into the Holy City, New Jerusalem.
One thing is most certain – the so-called “Sun-Star Group” is the most precise of all the Geoglyph in the world – if not the most precise. Its extraordinary high degree of precision is remarkable in that when circular symbols are used (where continuous lines are not utilized), these circular designs are done with such a high degree of symmetry – suggesting as NazcaMystery.com does: “Far better use of mathematics, meticulous and precise planning, measurements, and organization of the design and construction…one of the most precise ever found.”
You will notice that the Bose/Andrews platform is confined to the 8 by 8 (64) square (i.e., the “crisscrossed-at-the-corners square”) – they have not envisioned the two larger square perimeters beyond wherein the largest rhombus acts as the backdrop of the 8 x 8 square, making the Sun-Star octagonal in design – the rhombus makes it possible to place additional larger squares and circles (2 full 26.4’ x 26.4’ squares beyond the 8 x 8 square) which reach to the extremities/points of the largest rhombus which is clearly seen “behind” the “crisscrossed 8x8 square.” All circles therein formed are within six squares.
Who Done it?
Resolving the mystery of the purpose of the Sun-Star at the close of this age – after so long a time (even Maria Reiche suggests beyond 1000 BC) – is the formidable challenge; yet, a challenge we affirm will be surmounted as we delve into the intricacies of this priceless antiquity etched upon the surface of the Earth. We’re not saying “who done it” but we’re saying its geometry clearly reveals a marvelous picture of heavenly realities – whoever did it!
Ancient Phoenicians with Hebrew partners from the time of Hiram, King of Tyre (for Solomon’s Temple was constructed around 970-964 BC), may have journeyed to this site in search of gold and silver in massive 200’ vessels (which date back four millennium BC) or the antediluvian sons of Seth may have journeyed here prior to the “breaking up of the deep” – both being familiar with these markings and measurements . . . but, again, we join the hosts who conjecture to whom belong these inscriptions? – Whereas, the question abides: Who will join us in declaring their wonderment?
Yes, “focusing and vergence” into this geometric autostereogram has occurred…consider and see for yourself if you cannot make out her features….for immediately, the dimensions of the 12 x 12 miniature squares whose dimensions are easily calculated at 26.4’ by 26.4’ are the precise “fractal” dimensions of the heavenly City, New Jerusalem, found in Revelation 21:16-17:
With this brevity behind us – may we, once again, highlight some (surely not all) of the profound meaning of these redundancies – the “Number sets which constitute the New Jerusalem Matrix” – which time and again draw attention to their divine purpose which lies within our grasp – i.e., these calculations and numeric marvels are meant to be understood – apprehended – by humankind for our admonition and instruction; to wit:

However, the “Messianic” calculations are more pronounced in the Palpa Sun-Star – for since the 27 Sacred Texts of Christian Scripture wholly identify the full revelation of the Messiah – i.e., the “27” repeatedly bestows His impress upon the Sun-Star in that each and every miniature of the 144 (1 + 4 + 4 = 9) squares brings to light that, though it be small, yet its measurements reflect the New Jerusalem.
Introduction to Sun-Star Metrologies:
After awhile, in that the abundance of “proofs” to these divine dimensions is so incredibly redundant, the skeptical – as well as brethren well-meaning – will fondly express their innate disgust with these configurations and determine that they are simply “there” and however you wish to interpret them is simply left to one’s own fancy and prejudice – “You can make anything somehow relate to what you want it to relate to… you can prove anything you wish by numbers” – the so-called critic is wont to “objectively pontificate” – since they are so well-aware of these matters of astronomy and the occult, let alone religious inquiry and the like – therefore, their “objectivity” is, unsurprisingly, rife with bogus intellectual drivel having little or no substance…examining these facts and deciphering their accountability would be the preferred approach – rather than sticking one’s nose in the air and wishing these absolutes had no meaning whatsoever … that way we could simply be done with it and move on to the more understandable things of life – thereby confirming their own ignorance and lack of inquiry in the first place!
The believer, on the other hand, finds disgust in apparent compromise by well-meaning brethren (me) who are “fooling around” with the “doctrine of demons” when they should be about the gospel’s prime message – and worse, to find credibility of spiritual merit with anything having to do with the Sacred Geometry community is “ganz verboten” – a surefire way of catching spiritual leprosy if there ever were one!
Sorry – I am dumbfounded by this sort of intellectually obscene expression of proprietary wisdom having little to do with the objective facts of the matter and their immensely spiritual ramifications having to do with the very purposes of God Almighty.
Saying that perhaps “faith” must somehow take hold of us and that such “proofs” are purely coincidental or prejudicial and worthless surmisings – at best, stupefying happenstance – which ultimately succumbs to “pure faith” (whatever that is), is naught but a refusal to allow the Universal Mind that put all of this together to dwell in “unapproachable ambiguity” and suggest that by claiming the “high ground” of so-called “faith” makes the Designer and ultimate Geometer without reason and scientific scruples or both of us, the human and divine.
No – a thousand times NO – reason, understanding and wisdom do not obviate faith – they confirm it … unless, of course, one wishes to dwell in their own ivory tower of intellectual wisdom achieved by their much learning and leave us with our childish faith – since, to them, God is beyond comprehension in any event, so why bother – after all, evolution and a host of other “disciplines” just “are” – don’t try to make “sense” of the facts – and so, the moronic twits who reason in these matters, like thousands of lemmings, march to the sea, fully assured of their own safety and gravitational certainty – confirmed that the Purposes of God were never meant for the creature to comprehend – dare you go any further to probe the inane depth of such a foolish statement and then claim that “faith” is your only recourse?
And, “horrors devour” (a play on words - French for hors d’oeuvres), isn’t “faith” nothing more than a system of manipulation – a means whereby religion controls people? But of course, and certainly the objectivity of science has no hidden agenda whereby its “clergy” of brainiacs have no intention, not only to do the very same, but have so much pleasure in doing so! After all – we’ve got to keep them government grants flowing into our “research” – deprecating or at least wholly separating science from religion is a safe bet to keep the barbarian hoards of religious bigotry from playing with our funding…yes, whoever thought that one up is truly found among the brainiacs!
I wish you well – but for them who affirm that the Almighty has given us a multitude of gifts, as well as a brain, including and foremost His Word, and confirmed them throughout His Earth in a host of, in this case, antiquities – then follow me…we’re having too much fun in this discovery!
THE MYSTERY OF THE 144-SQUARE PLATFORM/LARGE PERIMETER SQUARES, RHOMBI/TRIANGLES AND THE CIRCLES
We have observed in our deliberations that there are 6 circles, 6 larger squares (in this section we will discuss) and there are 6 rhombi “allowed in the Sun-Star” – or 6 + 6 + 6 = “18!” This is a rather obvious but heretofore unseen geometric reality of the Sun-Star and most noteworthy.
Likewise, we have discovered that 18 x 144 = 2592 and that this 2592 is a fractal of the 25,920 years of the Great Precessional or the Mazzaroth/Zodiac mentioned in Job 28:32. That the designers of the Peruvian Sun-Star had the Zodiac/Mazzaroth in view when they designed it, we are left only to surmise…it would appear that they did – but, go ahead, criticize this conjecture if you would; however, it is not beyond the pale of human reason.
We will now discuss the six large squares (with a review/intro. of the 144 squares) – their length, area, numbers in each square, their cubic measurements and the “cubed 12-edge” measurements and their inter-relatedness.
Also – since the six large squares are made up of 144 squares, we instantly recognize that the 144 triangles created by the six rhombi insofar as “objects” concern (i.e., squares vs. triangles) are comparable/exact in number of objects and that 144 + 144 = 288 and 2 + 8 + 8 = “18” and that together they constitute the “18” New Jerusalem Standard of Measurement.
