An incredible amount of time has been wasted trying to determine the historicity of Jesus, all because scholars and theologians are too conceited to consider astrology-or maybe there is too much money, egos and careers at stake? The book of Matthew practically tells you where to look.
Actually, the connection between astronomy and mythology has not gone unnoticed by apologists. I have a few Christian sources that go to great lengths to "disprove" the connection between astrology and Christianity by steering their readers away from the traditional sun cycle. To admit such a link would be fatal to the conceit of their faith.
Now, thanks to computer technology, we can simulate these biblical events for ourselves and see with positive proof that the Gospel narratives were derived from the stars. We can confirm that the Bible contains nothing more than a series of pagan myths with a different spin.
The favorite rationale for why Jesus' birthday is celebrated on December 25th is that the early Christian fathers chose that date as a way of attracting pagan followers. That's bull. The entire nativity legend can be seen played out in the sky.
Christian mythology is written as if the events took place on earth. Unless one looks for the double meaning in the Bible's language, the astronomical connection can't be seen. The Gospels are laid out according to the zodiacal motifs with Jesus, the sun hero, passing through the four seasons. He is born every year on December 25, the first day when daylight hours start to increase.
In the winter months, the darkness of evil is still in force. As the daylight hours start to increase, he is said to be increasing in strength. His mission starts on the first day of spring when daylight hours equal nighttime hours. Spring is the time of righteousness.
He is at full strength at the summer solstice when the sun is at its highest position in the sky. As the sun descends through the summer months, the dark forces of evil are said to be sapping his strength.
When the sun passes through the autumnal equinox, the evil forces of darkness are said to be ruling. On the three darkest days of the year, the sun is dead from December 21 to 24. His resurrection restarts on December 25, when the sun starts to ascend again.

When Mary was engaged to marry Joseph and before they lived together, she was impregnated with a child from the Holy Spirit. Joseph, being a righteous man, planned to dismiss her quietly, but an angel came to Joseph and told him not to be afraid because the child was conceived by the Holy Spirit. His name is to be Jesus for he will save his people from their sins. When Joseph awoke from his sleep, he did what the angel commanded and took her for his wife.
In the time of Herod the king, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem, looking for the king of Jews so they could pay homage. King Herod was frightened when he heard this. So he asked his chief priests and scribes where the Messiah was to be born. They told him it was to be in Bethlehem because it was prophesized.
Herod secretly called for the wise men to learn when the star appears. He sent them to Bethlehem to find the child so he can pay homage too.
When the wise men left, they watched it move ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was born. They entered the house and paid homage with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Afterward they went by a different route and did not return to Herod.
Setup
To prove that the Nativity story conforms to the definition of mythology, the astral events have to take place on the day of December 25 from Jerusalem, which is close enough to Bethlehem. The year should be sometime around the first century.
To simulate the events, I am using freeware from Your Sky. Ambitious readers, who want to test these dates for themselves, can download the software or use the program available at the website. The origin of this nativity legend goes back a long way, probably to the ancient Egyptians. The schedules work at least as far back as 4,000 BCE to 1500 CE. The Bible text covers Matthew 1:18-2:23.
Divine Conception
Nine months before Jesus was born, the Holy Spirit came upon the virgin mother. To see how that works astronomically go to When was Jesus born
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; (Matt. 1:18)
Joseph
1. Joseph resolved to divorce her quietly until an angel came to him in a dream and told him his wife was conceived by the Holy Spirit. The stars of Bootes the herdsman represent Joseph, who is always by Virgo's side, as Figures 1 and 4 show.
19and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; (Matt. 1:19-20)
2. The angel told Joseph she will bear a son who shall be called Jesus; he will save his people from their sins.

3. This is to fulfill a prophecy spoken by the prophet (Isaiah:7:14). One reason for the falsity of the prophecy lies in the fact that Jews didn't believe in him, so they weren't saved.
22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23"Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us). (Matt. 1:22-23)

Mary
1. Virgo represents Virgin Mary. Her name is Mary because the word connotes water-in biblespeak, water is the mother element of birth. For example in Genesis 1, God divided the waters to make heaven and earth; Moses' Red Sea crossing symbolized the birth of the new nation of Israel.
2. On December 25 at the first hour, Virgo ascends above the horizon (Figure 2). It is significant that Virgo be ascending. Ascension is looked upon as a fortuitous direction.
3. At dawn, the sun personifies the Christ child born on the first day of the year when daylight hours start to increase. Thus we have the phrase, "a virgin shall conceive and bear a son". She is even lying on her side (Figure 3) as if to be giving birth. When seen through the eyes of an astrologer, there is nothing miraculous about this divine conception.
4. The passage in Luke about "the low estate of his handmaiden" takes on an astronomical meaning when we see Virgo arriving from below with her hand first to emerge above the horizon, i.e. the hand of the maiden.
46And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, 47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; (Luke 1:48)

Bethlehem
Jesus was made to be born in Bethlehem because, in Hebrew it means "house of bread". The house of bread is in Virgo who is pictured above (Figure 3) with grain stalks in her arms.
1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 2"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him." (Matt. 2:1-2)
Herod
Herod can be observed in Figure 4 as the constellation Serpens Caput the serpent. In the bottom of the picture there is Libra the balance scale. It could be that the scale was meant to weigh good and evil.
The implication that all Jerusalem was as much afraid of Jesus as Herod is rather silly.
3When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him 4and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. 5They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it is written by the prophet: 6'And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will govern my people Israel.'" (Matt. 2:3-6)

The wise men
The wise men are represented by the three stars (Figure 5) at the waistline of the constellation Orion.
1. The wise men came from the east because they saw his star in the east (Figure 5).
If the wise men were coming from the east, how can they see his star in the east? On land, the star should be west of them? The answer is that all stars come from the east, but the star of Bethlehem is to the east of Orion. As they drift westerly, the star of Bethlehem remains to the east.
To this day, Jews never accepted Jesus as king. He had no political power. He did not save them. Even worse, his name became a symbol of Jewish persecution.
1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 2"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him." (Matt. 2:1-2)
2. Herod sent the wise men to Bethlehem to find out when the star appears. Astronomically, Orion disappears below the horizon for about twelve hours. This could be seen as the time they spent with Herod.
7Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star appeared; 8and he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him bring me word, that I too may come and worship him." (Matt. 2:3-8)
3. The wise men see the star of Bethlehem when Orion, with its three belt stars, hangs over Sirius (Figure 7). This is how the star "rests over the place where the child was".
9When they had heard the king they went their way; and lo, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; (Matt. 2:9-10)
4. Their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh symbolize the whitish to gold colors of the three stars.
11and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. (Matt. 2:11)
5. The wise men did not return to Herod because it is impossible for stars to reverse direction.
12And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way. (Matt. 2:12)
6. "Wise" is falsely translated from the Greek magos, which denotes they were magicians. Or in this case, they were astrologers. In those days, astrologers were believed to be wise and learned men.

The Star of Bethlehem
1. At 4:00 PM, Sirius emerges above the horizon-astronomy handbooks list Sirius as the brightest star next to the sun (Figure 7). The three stars in Orion align towards Sirius.

Manger
Matthew says Jesus was born in a house; Luke says he was born in a manger. They do not contradict as much as it appears. A house defines one of the twelve sectors of the Zodiac. The manger is more specific in pointing to the house of Capricorn. There are reasons for the choice of manger.
The zodiac constellation preceding Capricorn is Sagittarius, half man half horse. As the sun descends, the horse is seen to be riding down towards its stable, or manger, into Capricorn. Also, it is a dark time of the year and mangers are dark places.
In the legend of the Twelve Labors of Hercules, when Hercules was in Capricorn, he was to clean out the stables of King Augeas

Hay diversas identificaciones que se han propuesto para el Can Mayor:
Lélape, un perro que fue regalado por Zeus a Europa, que pasó a varias generaciones posteriores hasta que se convirtió en el perro de Céfalo. Durante la persecución de la zorra teumesia, fue convertido por Zeus en piedra y luego puesto entre las constelaciones.
El perro de Orión, que fue colocado en el cielo a la vez que su amo, puesto que siempre había estado junto a él.
La perra Mera, de Icario y Erígone. Halló los cuerpos sin vida de sus amos y con sus lamentos atrajo a gente para que les dieran sepultura. Dioniso la puso entre las constelaciones.
La estrella Sirio, cuyo nombre significa «abrasador» y también conocida como «la estrella perro», es la más brillante del cielo nocturno, sólo superada en brillo aparente por la Luna y los planetas Venus, Júpiter y Marte. Debido a que durante el veranoboreal es invisible, se pensaba antiguamente que su energía se sumaba a la del Sol para producir los días más calurosos o «días perro» («días caniculares»).

Sirio, la estrella más brillante vista desde la Tierra.
α Canis Majoris (Sirio), la estrella más brillante vista desde la Tierra con magnitud -1,46. Es orbitada, con un período de 50 años, por una enana blanca llamada Sirio B primero observada por Alvan Clark.
Por diversas y poderosas razones, Canis Major ocupa un lugar preferente entre las 88 constelaciones catalogadas por la IAU(Unión Astronómica Internacional). Figuraba ya en la lista de las 48 constelaciones clásicas de Ptolomeo, y representa a uno de los perros (el otro es Canis Minor) que siguen al gran cazador, el Gigante Orión. Cuando se contempla en el cielo de enero, ahí arriba, dan ganas de alargar la mano y acariciar tanta inmensidad, tanta belleza, como si fuera una cariñosa mascota de ojos luminosos, y aliviar con su tacto el frío del invierno boreal. Para empezar, bastaría con decir que contiene a la estrella más brillante desde nuestra posición (Sirio), que incluso rivaliza en brillantez con los planetas más notorios, y a la mayor estrella que se conoce (VY Canis Majoris), que comparada con nuestro Sol resulta ser de un tamaño inconcebible, por no hablar de las 88 estrellas de magnitud inferior a +6, y que están por tanto en el límite de la visibilidad sin aparatos, bajo buenas condiciones del cielo, una cantidad de estrellas inusual en una porción del cielo tan reducida. Un precioso cúmulo estelar (M41), cuya visión resulta tan delicada que muy bien pudiera servir como el más hermoso adorno para el día de navidad (escribo a media tarde del 25 de diciembre de 2010), junto a otros brillantes cúmulos galácticos, e interesantes nebulosas con formas que hacen volar nuestra imaginación, como la de la Gaviota y la del Pato(ambas en la imagen de la izquierda), también conocida como el Casco de Thor, son ejemplos del innegable interés de esta apasionante región del cielo y revelan la cercanía de la Vía Láctea, que cruza la constelación por el nordeste. Además, contiene a la Galaxia enana Canis Major, que alberga a mil millones de estrellas y es la más cercana a nuestra Vía Láctea, por quien parece estar siendo deglutida, en una sorprendente escena de canibalismo galáctico.
De tamaño más bien pequeño (es la número 43 en extensión, con 380 grados cuadrados), se sitúa en el Hemisferio Sur, aunque su declinación de -20º, cerca del ecuador celeste, permite ser avistada hasta regiones de latitud +60º, siendo visible, como es natural, en la totalidad del Hemisferio Austral. Desde el mes de noviembre, y hasta marzo, puede contemplarse en el Hemisferio Norte, y desde Octubre a mayo en el Sur.
Situada al sur de Monoceros(el Unicornio), limita al oeste con Lepus(la Liebre), a la que parece perseguir, y con Columba(la Paloma), que también se sitúa al suroeste. Puppis(la Popa) la rodea por el sureste y el este. La relativa tenuidad de las estrellas de estas constelaciones con respecto a Canis Major, contribuye aún más a la notoriedad de esta ya de por sí fascinante constelación.

Como Sirio, la principal estrella de Canis Major, es también la más brillante de todo el cielo nocturno, su localización no ofrece mayores dificultades. Sólo hay un problema, que puede afectar al observador menos avezado, y es la posibilidad de confundirla con algún planeta, en particular con Júpiter o Venus, pues éstos suelen alcanzar un brillo muy notable, superior incluso al de Sirio. Para evitarlo, sólo fíjese en la forma en que el astro brilla (pulse sobre la imagen), y recuerde que los planetas lo hacen de una forma constante, mientras las estrellas titilan, brillan de forma parpadeante.
Pero disponemos de más recursos para llevar a buen término su correcta identificación. Sólo con localizar el Cinturón de la cercana Constelación de Orión, popularmente conocido como Las Tres Marías, y prolongando hacia el sureste la línea imaginaria que une a las tres estrellas, llegaremos a Sirio sin ningún problema.
También se puede localizar a Sirio con ayuda de otras estrellas (véase El Cielo del Invierno), en particular del conocido Triángulo de Invierno, que Sirio conforma junto a Betelgeuse (la supergigante roja de Orión) y Procyon (la principal estrella de Canis Minor).
Los lectores que residan en el Hemisferio Sur deben tener en cuenta que su visión diferirá de la boreal en cuanto a su orientación, pues la esfericidad de la Tierra hace que observen el asterismo invertido, como se aprecia en la fotografía superior, del VLT(Very Large Telescope) de la Agencia Espacial Europea, en el desierto chileno de Atacama.
En el siguiente cuadro indico la hora en que Sirio efectúa el tránsito por el punto más alto (en el sur para el Hemisferio Norte, en el norte para el Austral), durante cada uno de los cinco domingos de este próximo mes de enero, para las ciudades de Cádiz, Buenos Aires y México, en sus respectivos horarios locales:

Estrellas principales
Sirio(Alpha Canis Majoris o α CMa) es la principal estrella de la constelación, y la más brillante de todo el cielo nocturno. Su visión en el cielo del invierno boreal resulta espectacular, a pesar de no ser un cuerpo extraordinario, pues su radio sólo es 1.5 el del Sol, y su masa 3.5 veces mayor que la de nuestra estrella. Pero su relativa proximidad al Sistema Solar, de tan sólo 8.6 años-luz, la quinta estrella más cercana a la nuestra, le confiere un brillo muy superior al de las demás estrellas nocturnas. En una ocasión, quise comprobar hasta dónde el brillo de la estrella aguantaba la luminosidad de la mañana, y tuve que rendirme cuando el reloj marcaba las 9:20 de la mañana, ya con el Sol sobre el horizonte desde hacía un buen rato, y Sirio seguía en el centro de mi ocular.
Su magnitud visual de -1.46 le permite rivalizar con Júpiter y a veces incluso con Venus, siendo de muy fácil localización al sureste del Cinturón de Orión, siguiendo la línea marcada por éste, como ya se apuntó más arriba. Es una estrella blanca, con ligero matiz azulado, de tipo espectralA1V, una estrella enana de la secuencia principal que tiene una temperatura superficial del orden de los 10.000 ºK.
No quiero extenderme demasiado en el análisis de esta estrella, pues mi intención es dedicarle un monográfico. Pero es de resaltar su naturaleza binaria. Efectivamente, en 1.844 Friedrich Bessel estudió detenidamente las alteraciones en el movimiento propio de la estrella, y dedujo la presencia de una compañera física, que A.G. Clark descubrió en 1.862 con su telescopio refractor de 18”. Sirio B, que así se llama, y que en la fotografía del Hubble aparece abajo a la izquierda de Sirio A, es una débil estrella de +8.5 de magnitud visual, que hubiera sido visible fácilmente a no ser por el deslumbrante brillo de su acompañante. Sirio A es conocida como la Estrella Perro, y Sirio B como El Cachorro. Veamos las principales características de Sirio A:

Adhara(Epsilon Canis Majoris o ε CMa), con una magnitud visual de +1.51 es la segunda estrella más brillante de la constelación y es también un sistema doble. Se trata de una supergigante azul, de espectro B2I, 15.000 veces más luminosa que el Sol, pero que está situada a 405 años-luz. Sin embargo, si estuviera en el lugar de Sirio, brillaría con una magnitud de -7, equivalente a la Luna en su tercer día, cuando el terminador se sitúa en la orilla occidental de Mare Crisium. Siete veces más brillante que Venus. En tiempos muy remotos (hace casi 5 millones de años) estaba mucho más cerca, a unos 37 años-luz, y brillaba con magnitud -4. Su acompañante es una estrella de la secuencia principal de +7.4 de magnitud visual. Resumamos a continuación algunos datos relevantes sobre Adhara:

La tercera estrella más brillante de Canis Major es Wezen(Delta Canis Majoris o δ CMa), de magnitud +1.83. Es una jovencísima estrella, de sólo unos 10 millones de años situada a una incierta distancia de 1.790 años-luz. De color blanco-amarillento, es un astro muy masivo, equivalente a 17 soles, lo que hace que agote su combustible muy rápidamente, y en sólo unos centenares de miles de años explotará como supernova. Con un diámetro de 200 veces el de nuestra estrella, tiene una luminosidad equivalente a la de 50.000 soles. Un resumen:

Murzim o Mirzam(Beta Canis Majoris o β CMa) es la cuarta estrella más brillante de la constelación, con magnitud variable entre +1.95 y +2.00. Su nombre significa “El Heraldo”, y es una alusión a la próxima aparición de Sirio tras de ella, unos 18 minutos después. Está a una temperatura superficial de 26.000 ºK y es 34.000 veces más luminosa que el Sol. Algunos de sus datos:

En este esquema comparativo, a la izquierda de VY Canis Majoris está representado el Sol. Sí, sí que está, pulse sobre la imagen y cuando se abra vuelva a pulsar.
VY Canis Majoris es la estrella más grande que se conoce. Situada a unos 5.000 años-luz de distancia, la estrella se estima que tiene entre 1.700 y 2.100 veces el diámetro del Sol. Situada en el lugar de éste, alcanzaría la órbita de Saturno y contendría en su interior las de Mercurio, Venus, la Tierra, Marte, el cinturón de asteroides y Júpiter. Si pudiéramos reducir la Tierra hasta el tamaño de un centímetro, VY Canis Majoris resultaría tener 2.3 kilómetros de diámetro. Recibe también la denominación HIP 3693, que es su numeración en el Catálogo Hiparcos.
Una densa nebulosa la rodea y esta circunstancia puede ser la responsable de las variaciones que muestra en su brillo, desde +7.6 a +9.0, y dependiendo de éste, podrá ser visible con binoculares, o necesitarse telescopios para su observación. Esta nube que rodea a la estrella está compuesta por polvo y otros materiales expulsados por ella misma.

Objetos de Cielo Profundo
Como la Constelación de Canis Major está surcada por el Brazo de Orión de la Vía Láctea, sobre todo en su sector oriental, encontramos numerosos campos ricos en estrellas. Uno de ellos, M41, el único objeto de la región que Messier anotó en su catálogo, es un precioso cúmulo estelar:
Descubierto por Giovanni Battista Hodierna en 1.654, redescubierto por Le Gentil en 1749 de forma independiente, e incluido por Messieren el catálogo de objetos molestos el 16 de enero de 1.765, M41 ya fue probablemente avistado por Aristóteles el 325 a.C., pues el cúmulo se deja ver sin ayuda óptica en buenas condiciones de cielos oscuros y ausencia de contaminación, tanto ambiental como lumínica, muy cerca de la brillante Sirio, como veremos enseguida. Es por tanto el objeto más débil entre los registrados en la Antigüedad. Ofrece una magnitud visual conjunta de +4.5 y es un objeto bastante joven, pues su edad se ha estimado entre 190 y 240 millones de años.
M41 es bastante amplio, pues su diámetro real es de unos 25 años-luz, pero situado a 2.350 años-luz del Sistema Solar, hace que lo veamos con un tamaño aparente de 38 minutos de arco, algo mayor que la Luna llena. Contiene unos 100 miembros, entre los que destaca una gigante anaranjada muy cerca del centro, de tipo espectral K3 y magnitud +6.9, unas 700 veces más luminosa que el Sol. Otras estrellas azules, blancas, amarillas, anaranjadas y rojas completan una deliciosa visión. La gigante azul que aparece en la esquina inferior izquierda de la imagen de arriba es 12 CMa, y no pertenece al cúmulo, pues está mucho más cerca.
Es muy fácil localizar a M41. Basta con enfocar a Sirio, y desplazarse sólo 4º hacia el sur, y allí lo encontrará prácticamente en el centro de su ocular. Sin embargo unos binoculares de 10×50 ya serán suficientes para resolver algunas de las estrellas del cúmulo.
La Nebulosa de la Gaviota es una de las más bonitas del cielo. Está formada por dos objetos bien diferenciados: NGC 2327 forma la cabeza del ave, mientras IC 2177 constituye el resto del cuerpo y las alas del animal, y su tamaño es inmenso: mide unos 250 años-luz. Se localiza a 7.5 grados al noreste de Sirio, en dirección a M50, justo en el límite entre las constelaciones de Canis Major y Monoceros(el Unicornio), a 3.800 años-luz del Sistema Solar. Es una gran nube de gas y polvo que ocupa en el cielo un espacio de 4 x 3 grados.
El Casco de Thor(NGC 2359) es una espectacular nebulosa de emisión, muy cercana en la línea visual a la nebulosa de la Gaviota, pero que está cuatro veces más alejada del Sistema Solar, a unos 15.000 años-luz. También conocida como Nebulosa del Pato, tiene una característica forma de Q, con una burbuja originada por una estrella de Wolf-Rayet central, esto es, una estrella muy masiva, caliente y evolucionada, que despide fortísimos vientos estelares que hacen que la materia circundante tome esa forma. La estrella tiene magnitud visual de +11.4 y la nebulosa, en su conjunto, +9.0. El material expulsado más allá le confiere el aspecto de un casco vikingo. Ocupa en el cielo un ángulo de 8′ de diámetro, aunque la nebulosa en realidad mide unos 50 años-luz de un extremo a otro.

Mitología
Mitológicamente, y como no podía ser de otra forma, Canis Major está íntimamente relacionado con Sirio, su estrella principal y la más notable de todo el cielo. Para la civilización egipcia, la primera aparición en la madrugada tras seis meses de ausencia en los cielos (orto helíaco) coincidía con la crecida del Nilo, y la consiguiente fertilización de las tierras de cultivo, constituyéndose de esa forma en fuente de riqueza para los egipcios. Así, Sirio fue venerado primero como Anubis, el dios con cabeza de chacal, y más tarde como Isis. Ha sido identificado con el can Cerbero, guardián de los infiernos, lo que resulta coherente con la adoración de Anubis, pues éste era el dios de la necrópolis, directamente relacionado con Osiris.
Sirio fue también asociado con los días de mayor calor, la Canícula, pues se pensaba que al desaparecer en los meses centrales del año sumaba su calor al del Sol para así originar los días más crudos del verano.
Canis Major se identifica asimismo con uno de los dos perros del gigante cazador Orión, junto con Canis Minor. Orión pidió a Zeus que pusiera a sus perros junto a él, y por eso siempre lo siguen en su desplazamiento por el cielo, tratando de cazar a Lepus(la Liebre).

Sky Watching in Washington, D.C. - An Astronomer Looks at the Washington DC Map
If you are in DC the first week of May, you can go to the west side of the Capitol Building at sunset and looked toward the White House to see the sun. The image above shows the sun setting May the first, 20 degrees north of due west in DC. This event is the flip side of the story told by David Ovason about the sun setting over Penn Avenue in August, which you can see in the image below. Here you can see that the sun also sets there in May. Now, re-read his book where he talks about Pennsylvania Ave having been aligned to one sunset on one day.
If you are in DC the second week of November, you can stand on the west side of the CB to watch the sunset near the Jefferson Memorial to the left of the Wash Mmt. If you were there in February, the sun will be setting in the same place again after having made its southerly most pass in December. David Ovason never mentions that Maryland and Penn Aves are symmetrical to one another.
Penn Ave is NOT aligned to one sunset, but to two of them, just as Maryland Ave is!!

I remind Serious Students that these dates, early Feb, May, Aug and November correspond to what are known as the 'cross-quarter' days - the days half-way between the solstices and the equinoxes. In the northern hemisphere the cold peaks statistically on about Feb 6th, while the heat of the summer peak about Aug 6th. The mid-points are in May and November.
Students of astrology should note that the solstice and equinoxes happen on the cusp (beginning) of the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. The cross-quarter days occur at 15 degrees of the fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, 45+ days after the equinoxes and the solstices. If you know your zodiac symbolism you will recognize these four as relating to the four creatures which were depicted in Ezekiel and Revelation as - a bull, a lion, a man and an eagle. Here is a standard Royal Arch image used by Masons that bears the same creatures.
If you were to watch the sunset for a year from the west side of the Capitol, you would see the sun set in front of you in March and September, it would set on Penn Ave in May, it would set 31 degrees north of due west in late June, and on PA again in August - as Ovason points out.
Next you would see the sun set over Maryland Ave in November, it will set 31 degrees south of due west in Dec and over MA again in Feb. Instead of being oriented to one sunset on one day, the city appears to have been oriented to four sunsets on four days, as seen by Penn and Maryland Aves. The city is not aligned to the solstices but to the cross-quarter days; the fixed zodiac signs, not the cardinal ones.
Some of you may have seen David Icke's demonstration where he uses the image above from Charles Westrbrook's book to prove the DC streets were aligned to the solstices. Please note, first of all, that those three sets of lines are not all parallel, yet they are all labeled as a solstice alignment. (I have added the numbers on the right.)
If you study the solar arc, you will find that while the sun moves to 23.5 degrees north and south of the equator at the solstices, as seen from the equator, that arc widens as you move north or south on the globe. At the latitude of DC, the total solar arc is 62 degrees, 31 north and south. That is, the sun is located 31 degrees north of due east on June 21 in DC.
Since the sun moves 71% of the arc between the equinox and solstice in half that time (45 days), The cross quarter day sunrises and sets happen at 31 x .71, or 22 degrees from due east-west in DC. That matches the alignment of Penn and Maryland Aves.
Take a look at the DVD named "Riddles in Stone" at about 17:00, where they are discussing the star Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. When you look at the earth's orbit around the sun, you will see that on July 4th, the earth is at its far point from the sun, and it is in such a position that the sun aligns with Sirius. That means that the sun is in front of Sirius, so that you can't see it.
In the DVD, it points to the cornerstone ceremony for the Washington Monument, noting that the sun aligned with Sirius then. They fail to point out that the ceremony took place on July 4th, and that the sun aligns with Sirius then every year. Next they present an image of DC looking east -
They proclaim that on the day of the cornerstone ceremony for the monument, you would have been able to see Sirius rising in the east, and hovering over the Capitol Building as seen above. You now know that you can not see Sirius July 4th, since the sun lies directly in front of it then!! What you would have seen would have been the sun only. Sirius does not emerge from behind the sun until August, the time that David Ovason writes so much about.
Note also that in the DVD it is suggested that the pyramid was 'aligned' to Sirius; that is was built so that the light of Sirius would travel down one of the air shafts and fall on an initiate located in the Queen's Chamber. Have a look at a drawing of the Queen's Chamber and the shafts, and you can see that it is impossible for that to happen, as the southern shaft has a bend in it.

The Sirius Star System as the Source of Creation
Scientific, linguistic, and mythological evidence places the Sirius star system, Sirius A and Sirius B, at the origin of the creation.
Eastern and western mythological and religious traditions agree that a primal sound, a Word, is the origin of the creation. Quantum physics also agrees that vibration (sound) is the essence of all forms in the creation.

The Rig Veda and the Vedic Sanskrit tradition revealed long ago that this primal sound, this Word of God, is AUM.

The acoustics and mythology of the Sirius Star System will reveal the truth concerning this Word of God.
All celestial objects, including Sirius A and B, are moving in helical spirals, and generate tones and sounds.
With the computer’s help, we can hear the perfect harmony generated by the orbital sounds of our own planetary system, the harmony of the spheres, as predicted by Johannes Kepler in the sixteenth century. Kepler said:

The three sounds and tones of AUM are generated by the individual orbits and double helical spiral shaped linear motion of Sirius A and B in the same way as the harmony of the orbital sounds of our planetary system, and happens in the following way.
1. The A is generated by Sirius B’s orbital motion, and is said like the a in America, uh, in the tone F. 2. The U is generated by Sirius A’s orbital motion, and is said like the u in tune in F#. 3. The M is generated by their combined double-helix linear motion, and is said in the tone G.
Their combined linear motion produces the nasalated M in the tone G, completing the three sounds and tones of AUM.

From the single DNA molecule we all once were, our entire organism has unfolded by way of the F, F#, G, tritone of AUM.
Saying AUM correctly in the creative tritone induces resonance in the soft palate in the roof of our mouth, and transfers this resonance to our pineal gland, which sits directly above the soft palate.
The specific resonance induced by saying AUM in the F, F#, G, tritone, causes our pineal gland to secrete dimethyltryptamine into our blood. Dimethyltryptamine is a powerful mind-manifesting, visionary, and meditative substance.
Our pineal gland is known as our third eye, and is recognized as a connecting point between our physical and spiritual being. This sound resonance connection to our pineal gland was designed into our DNA by the Creator.
By saying AUM in the F, F#, G, tritone, we are creating the fractal sound formula of our own DNA, and consciously activating our pineal gland (our third eye) using sound resonance.

Se llama Cirio Pascual a la vela que se consagra y enciende en la Vigilia Pascual en la liturgia católica de la noche del Sábado Santo; y es signo de Cristo resucitado, y su luz.
El cirio es renovado precisamente en esta ceremonia, sustituyéndose el del año anterior. Su tamaño puede variar, aunque ha de ser mayor que el de resto de velas del templo. Suele tener pintada una cruz en uno de sus lados.
El cirio se encendía con el fuego ultra caliente nuevo y también servía para la bendición de las fuentes bautismales. Otros atribuyen el origen del cirio pascual a las columnas de cera que Constantino mandaba encender la noche de Pascua y algunos, a la costumbre que había de escribir en un cirio bendito todas las fiestas movibles que dependían de la Pascua. Más adelante, estas fiestas se escribían en una tira de papel o pergamino que se fija en el cirio como se practica todavía en algunas catedrales.
