El pie es una unidad de longitud de origen natural, basada en el pie humano, ya utilizada por las civilizaciones antiguas.
El pie romano, o pes, equivalía, como media, a 29,57 cm; el "pie carolingio", o anteriormente denominado «pie drusiano o drúsico» [pes drusianus], equivalía a nueve octavos del romano, esto es, aproximadamente 33,27 cm; y el pie castellano equivalía a 27,8635 cm.[1]
Actualmente, el pie ha sido sustituido en casi todo el mundo por las unidades del Sistema Internacional (SI), salvo en el uso corriente en algunos países anglosajones, donde equivale a 30,48 centímetros. Es también la unidad de medida empleada en aeronáutica para hacer referencia a la altitud.
La primera referencia histórica referida a una medida estándar del «pie» se relaciona con la civilización sumeria, gracias a una definición de la medida encontrada en una estatua de Gudea de Lagash. Según la creencia más popular, se originó tras un descanso en una extenuante jornada de trabajo. El encargado de medir los bloques de piedra no era capaz de incorporarse y decidió que sería mucho más cómodo, para medir los bloques desde el suelo, utilizar los pies desde su posición.[cita requerida]
Sin embargo, los arqueólogos piensan que los egipcios y mesopotámicos favorecieron el codo, mientras que los romanos y los griegos prefirieron el pie. Originalmente tanto los griegos como los romanos dividieron el pie en 16 dígitos o dedos, pero en los últimos años, los romanos también lo dividieron en 12 unciae (de donde derivan las palabras inglesas inch, "pulgada" y ounce, "onza"). El pie griego (ποὐς, pous) variaba de una ciudad a otra, oscilando entre 270 y 350 mm, pero las longitudes utilizadas para la construcción de templos parecen haber sido alrededor de 295 o 325 mm, siendo el primero cercano al tamaño del pie romano. El pie dórico, utilizado en el orden dórico oscilaba entre 325 y 328 mm. El pie romano estándar (pes) era normalmente de 295,7 mm, pero en las provincias, se utilizaba el pes Drusianus (pie de Nerón Claudio Druso) con una longitud de aproximadamente 334 mm. Después de la caída del Imperio Romano, se continuó con algunas medidas tradicionales romanas, pero otras cayeron en desuso. En el año 790, Carlomagno intentó reformar las unidades de medida en sus dominios. Sus unidades de longitud se basaron en la toise y, en particular, la toise de l'Ecritoire, la distancia entre las puntas de los dedos de los brazos extendidos de un hombre.[3] La toise tiene 6 pied (pie) de 326.6 mm.
Sin embargo, no tuvo éxito en la introducción de una unidad estándar de longitud en todo su reino. Durante el siglo IX se utilizó un pie romano de 296,1 mm, y en el siglo X, un pie de unos 320 mm. Al mismo tiempo, los edificios monásticos utilizaban el pie carolingio de 340 mm.[4]

Equivalencias
Actualmente el pie se utiliza sólo como unidad de medida popular en los países anglosajones de Estados Unidos, Canadá y Reino Unido, y todavía se emplea en aeronáutica (incluso fuera de los países anglosajones) para expresar la altitud de aviones y otros vehículos aéreos. La adopción por estos países del Sistema Internacional (SI) hace ya unos años irá haciendo caer en desuso esta unidad, incluso en estos países.
Era usual utilizarlo para longitudes de hasta unos tres metros; para longitudes mayores se suele emplear la yarda o la milla. La excepción es la altitud de los aviones, que aún hoy se sigue expresando en miles de pies en casi todos los países.
Para el acotamiento de tierras y costas, el Sistema Público de Agrimensura de Tierras (de Estados Unidos) utiliza una variedad llamada «pie de agrimensura», cuya longitud equivale a 30,4800609601219 centímetros.
En la industria de la madera es usual utilizar el «pie maderero», tratándose en este caso de una unidad de volumen. Su valor es el que corresponde a una pieza cuadrada de 1 pie de lado y 1 pulgada de espesor. 1 pie maderero es igual a 2.359,737216 (un pie maderero entra 423.7 veces en un metro cubico);cm3 (30,48 cm * 30,48 cm * 2,54 cm).
El Padre Lamy en su Apparatus[5] (1696) describe el "pie de burgos" como una longitud de 1 8.5/11 codos antiguos romanos.

Efectivamente se calcula que la longitud total del meridiano es de 40008 kilometros aproximadamente. Teniendo en cuenta que en el mismo tenemos 360 grados de 60 minutos, que a la vez tambien tienen 60 segundos, tenemos que en los 360 grados equivalen a 129600000 segundos.

THE 5778 TRIANGLE
The Fibonacci and Lucas number sequences have intrigued amateur and professional mathematicians for centuries. The Fibonacci sequence begins with 0, 1 whilst the Lucas sequence begins with 2, 1. After that, the next integer in either sequence is simply found by adding the previous two numbers.

These number sequences appear frequently in nature, such as branching in trees, the arrangement of leaves on a stem, the spirals of a sunflower, the flowering of artichoke, an uncurling fern and the arrangement of a pine cone. Try it for yourself. Pick up a pine cone. Notice how the segments are arranged in spirals - one set of spirals going one way (in green in the picture), and another set of spirals going the other way (in red). Now count the number of spirals. It will always be a Fibonacci number, and the opposite spirals will always be an adjacent Fibonacci number. The same is true for pineapples, cauliflowers, broccoli, you name it.

The opposite spirals on a pinecone are always consecutive Fibonacci numbers (commonly 8 and 13, or 5 and 8).

These numbers are closely related to the golden ratio. By dividing a number in either sequence by its predecessor, an approximation of the golden ratio, phi or φ is achieved. The higher the numbers, the more precise the approximation. It can never be exact because phi is an irrational number, which means it cannot be expressed as any two integers a/b. For example, 5778 / 3571 = 1.618034... which is very close to the exact value of phi which is (1 + √5) / 2. Note that phi, the golden ratio, is not to be confused with Euler's totient function. Although both use the same Greek symbol φ, they are unrelated functions. 5778 is the sum of four consecutive Fibonacci numbers (...610, 987, 1597, 2584...), but what makes 5778 special is that despite an infinite number of Lucas numbers, it has been proven that only three of these are also triangular. Those numbers are 1, 3 and 5778. Remarkably, phi raised to the 18th power equals 5778.

The significance of number 18 can be appreciated when the 5778 triangle is deconstructed into 18 segments. 
It can be seen that the Genesis 1:1 triangle (and its constituent parts) together with the mysterious triangular number 153 figure prominently in the 18 piece 5778 jigsaw. The overall picture is a tolerable illustration of the miraculous catch of fish outlined in John 21. The three pieces representing the sky total 1998, which is the gematria value of " In the beginning God created the heaven..." from Gen 1:1, whilst the 1088 trapezium (the boat upon the waters) matches the gematria value of Psalm 145:17. Without doubt, 5778 is an important gematria number. Of particular interest is that 5778 on the Hebrew calendar coincides with 2017-2018 on the Gregorian calendar.
5778 ON THE HEBREW CALENDAR
The Hebrew year 5778 coinciding with 2018 on the Gregorian calendar is significant, as it was in the year 2018 AM that God made the first covenant with Abraham. (AM = Anno Mundi, or years since creation). This was 70 years after Abraham's birth in 1948 AM. The new independent state of Israel was established in 1948 Gregorian, so 2018 will also be 70 years (or a generation, see Psalms 90:10) since then.

David is the comprehensive soul of all mankind, and is the forerunner of Moshiach, who brings about redemption for all mankind. It is said that Adam was created to live for 1,000 years, but gifted King David 70 years of his life (Zohar 1, 55a). Together, the years of the lives of Adam (930) and David (70) sum to the 1,000 years of the Messianic era (the millenium). Read more about the notion that America was the New Jerusalem from the PBS Frontline program "Apocalypticism Explained - The Puritans". According to the sages, Messiah must come (return) no later than 6000 years since creation. It can be sooner, but no later than this date. This is in keeping with the Sabbath pattern - 6000 years since creation followed by 1000 years of the millennium. A thousand years are equivalent to one day in the eyes of God, as is written in Psalms (90:4). The Talmud (b.Avodah Zarah 9a) states the following: "The world is to exist for six thousand years; the first two thousand years are to be void; the next two thousand years
are the period of the Torah, and the following two thousand years are the period of the Messiah."The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet (aleph) can also be pronounced eleph, which means " thousand" and in Hebrew is spelled אלף which has a millui (spelled out) gematria value of 1 + 30 + 80 = 111 (3 x 37). So six alephs have a literal and a numerical meaning:
- literal meaning = 6 x 1,000 = 6,000
- millui gematria value = 6 x 111 = 666
For sure, man's number is up after 6,000 years! A further clue can be found in Genesis 1:1, who's 28 Hebrew letters include 6 alephs. Here are the moments, with an attempt to note the specific, intriguing "places" that were interwoven with these events. 1. Yemen: Home of Nasser al-Anbouri
On Sunday morning, December 18, 2016, a suicide bomber disguised as a disabled man killed 52 people and injured over 80 others, in Aden, Yemen. The attack near a military base targeted a gathering of Yemeni security officers, and the majority of those killed were Yemeni soldiers who were waiting to receive their salaries. The bombing happened outside the home of Nasser al-Anbouri, the commander of the Special Security Forces, near a military base in Aden. The Islamic State claimed responsibility. 2. Jordan: Karak Crusader Castle
Seven Jordanian security officers, a Canadian tourist and two Jordanian civilians were killed by gunmen in the southern city of Karak on Sunday, December 18, 2016. After a couple of shooting incidents, at a home and an attack on a police station, police were told the gunmen were hiding inside the Karak Crusader castle, a prominent tourist attraction on a hilltop. Several Canadian news outlets identified the tourist as Linda Vatcher, a retired teacher from Newfoundland. At the time of the attack, she was visiting her son David or Chris (as he has been variously identified), who works in the region. He is among the injured. Four of the attackers were also killed.
On Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Karak, Jordan again, four Jordanian security personnel were killed in fresh clashes with armed men near the central town of Karak.
Kerak Castle is a large Crusader castle located in al-Karak, Jordan. It is one of the largest crusader castles in the Levant. Construction of the castle began in the 1140s, under Pagan, Fulk, King of Jerusalem. The Crusaders called it Crac des Moabites or "Karak in Moab" referred to in history books.
3. Turkey: Ankara Exhibition Hall
On 19 December 2016, at 20:15, Russia's Turkey ambassador Andrei Karlov was shot and fatally wounded by Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, a 22-year-old off-duty Turkish police officer, at an art exhibition in Ankara, Turkey. The attacker, who was dressed in a suit and tie, opened fire at Karlov at point-blank range while the ambassador was delivering his speech in front of journalists, fatally wounding the ambassador and injuring several others. The attacker gained access to the gallery after he showed his police ID to security guards. A video of the attack showed the assassin crying out: "Don't forget Aleppo, don't forget Syria!" and "Allahu Akbar" (God is Greatest) while holding a gun in one hand and waving the other in the air in the tawhid salute. The assailant shouted in Arabic and Turkish. Altıntaş was subsequently shot by Turkish security forces. Both were rushed to hospital, but they died from their injuries. The city of Ankara announced that the exhibition hall where Karlov was assassinated would be named after Andrei Karlov.
4. Switzerland: Zurich Islamic Center
At approximately 5:30 PM on 19 December 2016, a man entered an Islamic center near the main train station in Zürich and began shooting, apparently at random. The center, which is primarily used by refugees from Somalia and Eritrea, was hosting prayer services at the time. Approximately 10 people were present at the shooting. Three people were wounded in the attack, two seriously, though all are expected to survive. The victims are two Somali nationals, age 30 and 35, and a Swiss citizen age 56. One witness reported hearing the shooter yell "Raus aus unserem Land [Get out of our country]" during the attack, though police could not confirm this. After the shooting, the suspect (a 24-year-old Swiss citizen of Ghanian descent living in Uster) fled the area on foot and a police manhunt was started to locate and capture him. Police brought in dog tracking teams to attempt to locate the suspect, and alerted the public to be wary. It was subsequently discovered that the suspect apparently took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot. His body was found a few hours after the shooting under the Gessner Bridge on the river Sihl approximately 300 metres (980 ft) from the Islamic center shooting site. (The first written reference to the name Sihl dates to 1018, in the form Sylaha. The name may be of Old European or Celtic origin: * Sîla ("quiet watercourse," from a root *sîl = "to trickle, wet") > Romance Sila with the addition of the Old High German element aha "flowing water".) At approximately 9 AM on 18 December 2016, a dead stabbing victim was discovered on a playground in the Schwamendingen district of Zürich. The victim was a 25-year-old Swiss citizen of Chilean origin whose name has been withheld. The police identified a suspect in the murder based on DNA evidence at the scene and began searching for the assailant. The suspect's DNA was in a police database due to an arrest seven years prior for stealing a bicycle, and he was known to be a former friend of the murder victim.
5. Germany: Berlin Christmas Market/Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church
A terrorist attack on 19 December 2016, at 20:02 local time, during which a truck was driven into the Christmas market next to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, left 12 people dead and 56 others injured. One of the victims was the truck's original driver, Łukasz Urban, who was found shot dead in the passenger seat. A suspect was arrested and later released due to lack of evidence. Another person, suspected to be the actual perpetrator, was killed four days later during a shootout with police near Milan in Italy.
On 21 December, police announced that investigators had found, under the truck's driver's seat, a suspension of deportation permit belonging to Anis Amri, a man who was born in Tataouine, Tunisia, in 1992. The suspect synced with Star Wars, as I noted in a tweet.
The truck came to a stop at one of the Christmas trees in front of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at the Berlin Market.

6. Explosion at Aleppo Christmas tree celebration
On December 20, 2016, a well-attended Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in the Syrian city of Aleppo was rocked by an explosion meters away from the gathered crowd. No casualties have been reported.
We are seeing the unfolding of ancient battles in an ancient land.
Aleppo had cultic importance to the Hittites for being the center of worship of the Storm-God*. this religious importance continued after the collapse of the Hittite empire at the hands of the Assyrians and Phrygians in the 12th century BC, when Aleppo became part of the Middle Assyrian Empire (1365-1050 BC), whose king renovated the temple of Hadad which was discovered in 2003. Modern-day English-speakers commonly refer to the city as Aleppo. It was known in antiquity as Khalpe, Khalibon, and to the Greeks and Romans as Beroea (Βέροια). During the Crusades, and again during the French Mandate for Syria and the Lebanon of 1923-1946, the name Alep was used. Aleppo represents the Italianised version of this. The original ancient name, Halab, has survived as the current Arabic name of the city. However, the name is of pre-Arab origin. Some have proposed that halab means "iron" or "copper" in Amorite, one of the north west Semitic Canaanite languages, since the area served as a major source of these metals in antiquity, and the Amorites dominated the region during the Bronze Age. However, according to the 20th-century historian sheikh Kamel al-Ghazzi and to the contemporary linguist priest Barsoum Ayyoub, the name Halab(and consequently Aleppo) derives from the Aramaic word Halaba which means "white", referring to the color of soil and marble abundant in the area. The modern-day Arabic nickname of the city, ash-Shahbaa (Arabic: الشهباء), which means "the white-colored," also allegedly derives from the famous white marble of Aleppo. From the 11th century it was common rabbinic usage to apply the term "Aram-Zobah" to the area of Aleppo, and many Syrian Jews continue to do so. *The Storm God: Teshub is depicted holding a triple thunderbolt and a weapon, usually an axe (often double-headed) or mace. The sacred bull common throughout Anatolia was his signature animal, represented by his horned crown or by his steeds Seri and Hurri, who drew his chariot or carried him on their backs.

Back to the Future Predicts 9/11's filmmaker Joe Alexander.
The Twilight Language is giving its Third Annual "Synchromystic Of The Year" Award to Joe Alexander on December 15, 2016. The annual honor is bestowed upon a deserving individual who has contributed to the broad dissemination of a better understanding of the objectives and goals underpinning the field of synchromysticism.

A 12-minute video that’s making the rounds this week claims the 1985 film Back to the Future contains a coded message warning of the 9/11 attacks. The gist of this theory: Twin Pines mall, where one of the movie's main characters is attacked by terrorists, is meant to represent the Twin Towers. (There's also something about how film is a portal to transcendence.) The name of the group that made the video, Apophenia Productions, seems appropriate. Apophenia refers to the tendency to perceive a pattern among unrelated or random ideas or objects.
It is all about time, symbols, and foreshadowing.
Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 is a dizzying watch, full of big breath statements like, "Zemeckis, a pre-cogging conduit, channels the 9/11 archetype with his tower strike Twin Pines terror attack cinematic superimposition, both scenes featuring the transdimensional portal, pointing to 9/11 as the archetype of transcendence."
...Short films like Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 are playful exercises in pattern recognition, searching out meaningful coincidences that they believe may emerge from a mystical, universal holism, ” writes Andrew Whalen in iDigital Times.
Whalen asked Alexander why he picked Back to the Future? The filmmaker answered:
I think it chose me to be honest. I think that these sub-plots, they wanted to be expressed on some level. We come back to intention, like in the way a human being has intention. Can a movie have intention? Can something that doesn't seem to be conscious have intention? I think it can because it's ultimately tied to the infinite consciousness of the universe.
Joe Alexander has something to tell the sync community about the future, and does it through his examination of the continuum in Back to the Future and events that occurred after the movies of the trilogy appeared. As far as documentary movie-making goes, Back to the Future Predicts 9/11 joins treatments like Rodney Ascher's Room 237 (2013) and Jake Kotze's videos to form a growing body of sync-comparative works.
Alexander's 2015 film talks of 2001's 9/11, as well as about events that were predicted in Back to the Future's films for 2015. But when some of the "predictions" appeared to be potential failures for 2015 - like the Cubs winning or Trump's president run - they turned into successes in 2016.
That is why Alexander gets the award for 2016.

The notion that Donald Trump's presidential run and election were foretold in the Back to the Future films has a solid foundation.
Andrea Mandell 's USA Today article of October 21, 2015, "Believe it: 'Back to the Future' predicted Trump's run," relates the facts. Mandell reports, " Back to the Future II screenwriter Bob Gale told the Daily Beast that Marty McFly's arch nemesis, the wealthy villain Biff Tannen, who turns his fortunes (among them, casino) into a quest for political power was...based on The Donald."
In the 1989 sequel, Biff uses the profits from his towering casino to help shake up the Republican Party, before eventually assuming political power himself. In what becomes a lawless, dystopian wasteland, Biff encourages every citizen to call him “America’s greatest living folk hero.” Source.
As seen below, the Comedy Central's At Midnight dealt with the thin line between humor and the unknown unknown shown in Back to the Future Predicts 9/11. The host's podium mirroring the Twin Towers was hardly subtle.
Therefore, Joe Alexander, besides creating a thoughtful, enjoyable film and other videos about the synchromystic side of Back to the Future's "predictions," has had an impact, in 2016, beyond his one contribution. He caused ripples through the sync world every time anyone watched Back to the Future and other films. Thanks to him for showing us what he sees.

Doc Brown's garage was originally part of his mansion. Initially it served primarily as Doc's laboratory, but when the mansion burned down in 1962, the garage became a free-standing structure that was eventually built around as Riverside Drive became John F. Kennedy Drive; by 1985, it was adjacent to a Burger King restaurant. It served as Doc's home from that point on.
In 1955 and 1985, Doc kept the key to the garage under a potted plant outside the door. In 1985, when Marty pointed out to Doc — who had called Marty to ask him to stop by the garage on his way to Twin Pines Mall and pick up the video camera — that this was the first place a burglar would look, Doc said he hadn't been robbed yet and that nobody would ever suspect the garage contained a billion dollars' worth of research due to its looking somewhat dilapidated.[1]
In 1955, Doc stored his Packard there. It was fairly clean, though some areas were set aside for experimentation. The garage also had a separate room which apparently served as Doc's study, with an armchair where he could sit down, and in which were displayed four portraits of famous scientists — namely Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein.
When Marty McFly arrived in the past, they used it as a test bed for the DeLorean time machine and Doc built a demonstration model of downtown Hill Valley. Being a responsible scientist, Doc kept a fire extinguisher in the garage in the event that one of his experiments should go wrong, which it did on this occasion when an explosion on the model table caused the windup toy car used to represent the DeLorean time machine to catch fire; the burning car then shot straight off the edge of the table, rolled along the floor and set a large cloth on the other side of the garage ablaze. Doc quickly grabbed the extinguisher and put the fire out.
By 1985, the garage had become a mess. Inside was a large CRM-114 amplifier, over sixty clocks all set at exactly the same time (though exactly twenty-five minutes slow), a television set, an automatic dog feeder, and a stolen case of plutonium that Doc obtained from Libyan terrorists.
In the alternate 1985, the garage was abandoned after Doc was committed into a mental institution. Items were disheveled and had gathered dust and cobwebs.

By May 14, 1986, Doc's garage had come up for estate sale, as he had not been around to upkeep it.
Due to young Emmett developing a better relationship with his father, a new present was created in which Doc and his family stayed in the present. As a result, the estate sale was now just a garage sale.

Behind the scenes
- In the first film, sixty-three clocks can be seen, including one digital, and one that shows Harold Lloyd hanging from a clock tower from Safety Last, foreshadowing the events later in the film. Initially, they all read 7:53 a.m., just before Marty enters,[2] except for the one closest to the box of plutonium that had the correct time of 8:18.
- The actual garage for the Gamble House in Pasadena served as the exterior for the 1955 scenes. A replica was constructed for the closeups, and, set up adjacent to the Burger King in Burbank, for the filming of the lone exterior scene in 1985. The interior shots were filmed on a soundstage.
