Total Lunar Eclipse of 2033 Apr 14
Fred Espenak
Key to Lunar Eclipse Figure (below)
Introduction

The Total Lunar Eclipse of 2033 Apr 14 is visible from the following geographic regions:
- Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia
The diagram to the right depicts the Moon's path with respect to Earth's umbral and penumbral shadows. Below it is a map showing the geographic regions of eclipse visibility. Click on the figure to enlarge it. For an explanation of the features appearing in the figure, see Key to Lunar Eclipse Figures.
The instant of greatest eclipse takes place on 2033 Apr 14 at 19:13:51 TD (19:12:36 UT1). This is 2.7 days after the Moon reaches apogee. During the eclipse, the Moon is in the constellation Virgo. The synodic month in which the eclipse takes place has a Brown Lunation Number of 1364.
The eclipse belongs to Saros 132 and is number 31 of 71 eclipses in the series. All eclipses in this series occur at the Moon’s ascending node. The Moon moves southward with respect to the node with each succeeding eclipse in the series and gamma decreases.
This is a very shallow total eclipse. It has an umbral eclipse magnitude of only 1.0955 and a duration of totality lasting 49.8 minutes. Gamma has a value of 0.3954.
The total lunar eclipse of 2033 Apr 14 is preceded two weeks earlier by a total solar eclipse on 2033 Mar 30.
These eclipses all take place during a single eclipse season.
The eclipse predictions are given in both Terrestrial Dynamical Time (TD) and Universal Time (UT1). The parameter ΔT is used to convert between these two times (i.e., TD = UT1 + ΔT). ΔT has a value of 75.5 seconds for this eclipse.
The following links provide maps and data for the eclipse.
The tables below contain detailed predictions and additional information on the Total Lunar Eclipse of 2033 Apr 14 .

Moon Phase for Tuesday March 15th, 2033
Information about the current phase of the moon, and upcoming phases for March 15th, 2033.
Moon Phase for Tuesday Mar 15th, 2033
The current moon phase for March 15th, 2033 is the Waxing Gibbous phase.
On this day, the moon is 13.7 days old and 98.79% illuminated with a tilt of 71.675°. The approximate distance from Earth to the moon is 406,020.20 km and the moon sign is Virgo.
The Moon phase for March 15th, 2033 is a Waxing Gibbous phase. This is the phase where the moon is more than 50% illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination (which would be a Full Moon).
In the Northern Hemisphere, the right side will be illuminated, and in the Southern hemisphere it'll be the left side that is illuminated.
The Waxing Gibbous phase, like all moon phases, will last for just over 7 days. The actual length will vary because of the elliptical shaped orbit of the moon. During this Waxing Gibbous phase the moon will rise in the east in the mid- to late-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset.
Assuming it's a clear night, the Waxing Gibbous moon will then be visible through most of the night before setting just before sunrise.
