Levántate contra la Pobreza
Más de 100 millones de personas se movilizaron bajo el lema ¡Levántate y actúa! en diferentes iniciativas y celebraciones en más de 100 países de todo el mundo entre el 17 y 19 de octubre, para pedir a los líderes del mundo que no utilicen la crisis económica mundial como una excusa para romper la promesa hecha en el año 2000 de lograr los objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio. En los países ricos y en los pobres, en los conciertos y en los acontecimientos deportivos, en las universidades y en los templos, millones de personas demostraron que no permanecerán sentados e inactivos frente a la pobreza y las promesas rotas para ponerle fin, manifestó el Sr. Salil Shetty, Director de la campaña del milenio de las Naciones Unidas.

La ONU revisará el avance en los objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio en una sesión de alto nivel en septiembre de 2010

«El tiempo apremia. Debemos aprovechar este momento histórico para actuar de manera responsable y contundente por el bien común.»

A sólo seis años de 2015, fecha límite para alcanzar los objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio, Ban Ki-moon, Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas, eligió estas palabras para instar firmemente a los gobiernos a participar de manera constructiva en las preparaciones para una sesión de alto nivel en septiembre de 2010 destinada a revisar el avance hacia los objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio y otros objetivos de desarrollo a nivel internacional.

La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas tomó una decisión en julio de 2009 para llevar a cabo dicha sesión plenaria de alto nivel en la inauguración de su sexagésima quinta sesión en 2010. A petición de la Asamblea, el Secretario General ha emitido un informe estableciendo el formato y las modalidades propuestos para el evento, los cuales se esperan que obtengan la aprobación a través de consultas antes de que termine 2009. La Asamblea ha instado a todos los países a contar con la representación de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno en esta importante sesión.

En el Informe de objetivos de desarrollo del Milenio de 2009 emitido previamente este año, el Secretario General observó: “Hemos logrado importantes avances en este esfuerzo y contamos con muchos éxitos en los cuales apoyarnos. Sin embargo, hemos avanzado muy lentamente hacia el cumplimiento de nuestros objetivos”. La sesión plenaria de alto nivel de 2010, espera, no sólo se plasmará en una renovación de los compromisos existentes, sino que también puede movilizar con decisión medidas coordinadas entre todos los interesados y recaudar los fondos necesarios para garantizar el logro de todos los objetivos de desarrollo fundamentales para 2015.

For my part, a Simple Idea for to participate in the Campaign:

I see these Days as an Opportunity to e Raisse Consciousnes on the Multiple Local & Global Problems and Dangers that affect ourWorld.

I think to do a simple Public Films Projections in my Neighborhood, seeing them as an Opportunity for posterior Community Dialoge on them an about possible Solutions (I think to ask a Church Salon for the Event and also a DVD Projector and Screen for the ocassion).

The Films can be seen in "MySpace/ECOVISION".

P.S. 1: I think to Post the last E-Mail Information of this Forum in my Website "GabitoGrupos/ECOVISION" (an Environmental Information & Present Critical News into Spanish Clearing House).
