Más tarde, ve en las noticias las imágenes de la explosión y se fija que la moto era del policía, e informa al FBI de ello. El FBI se lo lleva para ser interrogado, le muestran un video terrorista y descubre que el policía era en realidad el terrorista llamado "El Lobo" y que el ataque tenía como objetivo al agente de la CIA Peter Brandt (Elias Koteas) debido a las actividades de
dicha organización en Colombia
. Le dicen que “El Lobo” ha vuelto a Colombia y no hay nada que puedan hacer, pero “Gordy” se niega a ello y decide ir tras él.
Después de eludir muchos guerrilleros en la selva, “Gordy” finalmente se infiltra en la zona donde opera la guerrilla. Es localizado tanto por la guerrilla (quienes lo quieren capturar para pedir rescate) como por la CIA (quienes no quieren que se inmiscuya en sus planes) y por la policía, pero son estos últimos quienes llegan primero hasta él y lo encierran en una prisión. Una vez allí, contacta con un estafador canadiense, Sean Armstrong (John Turturro). Los terroristas atacan la prisión para tratar de llegar a “Gordy” y liberar a algunos de sus miembros, pero “Gordy” consigue escapar y rescata a Sean. Sean le devuelve el favor ayudándolo a encontrar a Félix Ramírez (John Leguizamo), que gestiona la producción de droga que financia a los terroristas.
Después de alcanzar la planta de drogas, “Gordy” la destruye con explosivos. Félix es culpado por ello y ejecutado instantáneamente.
A continuación, “Gordy” se infiltra en el cuartel de "El Lobo", donde planta una bomba cerca de su habitación y se marcha. Desde fuera observa a una mujer y un niño caminando hacia el edificio y se da cuenta que si los deja morir no será mejor que "El Lobo", así que corre hacia ellos para advertirles. "El Lobo" lo oye y salta fuera del edificio en el momento de la explosión. “Gordy” es capturado y recibe una paliza. La mujer, Selena Perrini (Francesca Neri) -la esposa de “El Lobo”- evita que sea asesinado.
“Gordy” es hecho prisionero. Él habla con Selena, tratando de obtener su ayuda. Selena le explica a “Gordy” que su marido se volvió un terrorista como consecuencia de un ataque americano indiscriminado contra la guerrilla, el cual acabó con la vida de su hijo así como la de los padres del niño que ahora cuidan como su hijo. “Gordy” le dice que sin importar la razón, lo que está haciendo está mal y que ella lo debe ayudar a detenerlo. Selena dice que “Gordy” y "El Lobo" son lo mismo, consumidos por el odio y la venganza.
Mientras tanto, la explosión llama la atención de la CIA quienes localizan el campamento terrorista y lanzan un ataque. Durante la confusión, Selena ayuda a escapar a “Gordy” con la condición que la lleve a ella y su hijo a los Estados Unidos y le informa que "El Lobo" ha vuelto a Washington para otro ataque.
“Gordy”, Selena, y su hijo son devueltos al Departamento de Estado en Washington para ayudar a capturar a "El Lobo". Selena informa que el objetivo es Union Station y mientras el FBI va a investigar, Selena se va al baño y le pide a su hijo que le acompañe quien se niega pese al enfado de ella. “Gordy” le dice que su hijo estará bien y ella acepta a regañadientes. “Gordy” sospecha de esta extraña situación y entonces recuerda que la persona que apareció en el primer video que le mostró el FBI hacía los mismos gestos que Selena; se da cuenta que el verdadero objetivo era el Departamento de Estado, avisa a todos y lanza por la ventana el juguete del niño que no había sido comprobado justo antes de explotar.
“Gordy” persigue a Selena hasta el sótano del edificio, "El Lobo" está esperándola para escapar, pero “Gordy” manipula los controles del túnel y cierra las puertas principales. "El Lobo" y Selena tienen que volver a buscar los controles, “Gordy” abre algunas líneas de gas a lo largo de las paredes del túnel y espera. Selena dispara a “Gordy”, el disparo inflama el gas y el túnel explota, cuando “Gordy” vuelve a estudiar los daños, Selena y "El Lobo" habían sobrevivido y le atacan. Él lanza a Selena a través de un panel de control y muere electrocutada. "El Lobo" y “Gordy” siguen luchando, pero “Gordy” acaba con él.
Al final, “Gordy” abandona el Departamento de Estado junto con el hijo de Selena, mientras una voz en off informa que “Gordy” va a recibir la Medalla Presidencial de la Libertad al evitar una de los peores ataques terroristas en la historia de EE.UU.[2]

The Milky Way – The Golden Mean – The Great Flood
The Milky Way is derived from the name HATHOR, of the old Egyptian House of Horus. Hathor was worshipped as the COW-DEITY. She was the mother of Horus, who was later associated as the wife of RA, the sun god, or son of god.
The Milky Way was seen as the WATERWAY in the HEAVENS and referred to as the NILE IN THE SKY. Alternate names for HATHOR include – MEHTURT – also spelt Mehurt, Mehet-Weret, and Mehet-Uret). Hathor was responsible for the yearly flooding of the Nile. This is the same symbolic attributes assigned to Isis, and to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary and Jesus are both associated with the Holy Spirit, the Living Water, that descends from the heavens in the form of a DOVE. This Dove is Columbe, or the Columns of Water, that are symbolized by the word Columbia, as in District of Columbia, and by the symbols of 2 Towers, Pillars or Columns.
Another consequence of the name MEHTURT, and the annual flood of the Nile, was the association with the breaking of the AMNIOTIC SAC and the IMMINENT BIRTH OF A CHILD. When the mother’s water breaks, the resulting flood indicates the child is to be born extremely soon.

In this mythological symbolism, the subliminal suggestion has been implanted for thousands of illusory years, establishing the reality that is now ours in this present day. The luciferian thinkers, along with their elite intellectuals, continue to perpetuate the myth, to the point where now, the FLOODING of the NILE is the GLOBAL WARMING FLOOD that is to flood the world. The Milky Way was also known as the PRIMAL SNAKE called WADJET, known as the GREEN ONE. This is symbolized on the heads of the Pharoahs, where the Cobra snake protrudes in an upwards coil. Holy days associated with Wadjet, included the ‘GOING FORTH of WADJET‘, celebrated on December 25 (Christmas Day in Christianity – Christianity goes back to Tammuz of Babylon). As well, June 21, Summer Solstice was associated with her. As was March 14, the 73rd day of the year (73 coincides with 1). She was also assigned the 5th HOUR OF THE 5TH DAY OF THE MOON. 5 is the number of sacrifice, the BA, Baphomet, the sheep, goat or ewe = YOU. The BA was part of the Soul that would live on in the afterlife, or to put it more bluntly, the BA was death.
Hathor’s cult became associated with dancers, singers and other entertainers, who were priests and priestesses. Actually, no different than that which has come out of modern day Los Angeles and New York. These are the Muses of Apollo working their Golden Mean. Hathor also became associated with the TURQUOISE MUSICAL NECKLACE worn by women called the MENAT.

The line extends from Beijing and passes exactly through Anchorage Alaska, passing very close to Ketchikan Alaska. Ketchikan is also symbolic of the North Star of the Little Dipper Handle. The Little Dipper represents the Water being poured into the Big Dipper of California and the 11 Western States. This Water is the MILKY WAY, the Great Flood, the Nile In the Sky, established through the hypnotic mesmerizing form of the Golden Mean Spiral. This is the Spiral Staircase of Freemasonic ritual, and the stairway to heaven in religious and spiritual teachings.
The Milky High Way Poured From the Little Dipper Of Alaska
The chart immediately below shows the Temple Mount within the Old City Walls of Jerusalem. This Temple Mount has the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock Mosque. The al-AQSA lines up directly with the Dome of the Rock, which symbolizes the pouring of the Milky Way – the GREAT FLOOD in the heavens, from one Domed Mosque to the other. More accurately stated, it symbolizes one DIPPER, the LITTLE DIPPER, pouring the Mothers Milk, Hathor’s Milk, into the other DIPPER, the BIG DIPPER.
Muhammud rode his magic horse, al-BURAQ from MECCA to al-AQSA in one night, called the NIGHT JOURNEY. Al-AQSA meaning the furthest mosque, and symbolized by the al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. However, the NIGHT JOURNEY was actually the journey through the land of the INUIT in the far north, and al-AQSA is the State of ALASKA, which is the Little Dipper. For this reason, Alaska’s flag bears the North Star, the tip of the handle of the Little Dipper, the POLARIS STAR, and coincides with the location of Ketchikan and the BRIDGE TO NOWHERE. Alaska’s flag also bears the Big Dipper below the North Star, symbolizing how the Little Dipper pours into the Big Dipper.

LA INDEPENDENCIA DE COLOMBIA FUE EL MISMO DIA QUE EL HOMBRE PISO LA LUNA (20 DE JULIO)
Sin embargo, hoy en día es claro que lo que sucedió este día no fue un hecho espontáneo como aquellos que habían caracterizado la vida política colonial. Fue la consecuencia de varias circunstancias que sucedieron en cascada y desembocaron en una gran rebelión del pueblo. Los criollos tenían razones de fondo, que el 20 de julio se convirtieron en la gota que rebosó la copa. En las juntas realizadas entre 1808 y 1810, a pesar de que los criollos fueron invitados, la representación era mínima: entre 36 peninsulares, había 9 americanos. Esto hizo que los criollos por primera vez pensaran en la posibilidad de acatar un Estado- Nación.
Otro suceso fue el arresto, el 10 de agosto de 1809, del presidente de la audiencia de Quito, el Conde Ruiz de Castilla y sus ministros fueron sustituidos por la junta suprema de gobierno integrada por la elite criolla quiteña. Otra de las causas fueron los motines de Cartagena, del 22 de mayo de 1810 y los del Socorro en el 9 de julio del mismo año.
En consecuencia se creó la junta de notables integrada por autoridades civiles e intelectuales criollos. Los principales personeros de la oligarquía criolla que conformaban la junta eran: José Miguel Pey, Camilo Torres, Acevedo Gómez, Joaquín Camacho, Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Antonio Morales, entre otros.
Comenzaron a realizar reuniones sucesivas en las casas de los integrantes y luego en el observatorio astronómico, cuyo director era Francisco José de Caldas. En estas reuniones empezaron a pensar en la táctica política que consistía en provocar una limitada y transitoria perturbación del orden público y así aprovechar para tomar el poder español.
La junta de notables propuso promover un incidente con los españoles, a fin de crear una situación conflictiva que diera salida al descontento potencial que existía en Santa fe contra la audiencia española. Lo importante era conseguir que el Virrey, presionado por la perturbación del orden, constituyera ese mismo día la Junta Suprema de Gobierno, presidida por el señor Amar e integrada por los Regidores del Cabildo de Santa fe.
Don Antonio Morales manifestó que el incidente podía provocarse con el comerciante peninsular don José González Llorente y se ofreció "gustoso" a intervenir en el altercado. Los notables criollos aceptaron la propuesta y decidieron ejecutar el proyecto el viernes, 20 de julio, fecha en que la Plaza Mayor estaría colmada de gente de todas las clases sociales, por ser el día habitual de mercado.
Para evitar la sospecha de provocación se convino que Don Luis Rubio fuera el día indicado a la tienda de Llorente a pedirle prestado un florero o cualquier clase de adorno que les sirviera para decorar la mesa del anunciado banquete a Villavicencio. En el caso de una negativa, los hermanos Morales procederían a agredir al español.
A fin de garantizar el éxito del plan, si Llorente entregaba el florero o se negaba de manera cortés, se acordó que don Francisco José de Caldas pasara a la misma hora por frente del almacén de Llorente y le saludara, lo cuál daría oportunidad a Morales para reprenderlo por dirigir la palabra a un "chapetón" enemigo de los americanos y dar así comienzo al incidente.
Llegó el día indicado - 20 de julio 1810
 Eran las 11 de la mañana y la plaza mayor estaba colmada por una heterogénea concurrencia, compuesta de tratantes y vivanderos, indios de los resguardos de la sabana y gente de todas las clases sociales de la capital.
Poco antes de las doce del día, como estaba previsto, se presentó don Luis de Rubio en el almacén de Llorente y después de hablarle del anunciado banquete a Villavicencio, le pidió prestado el florero para adornar la mesa. Llorente se negó a facilitar el florero, pero su negativa no fue dada en términos despectivos o groseros. Se limitó a explicar diciendo que había prestado la pieza varias veces y ésta se estaba maltratando y por lo tanto, perdiendo su valor.
Entonces intervino Caldas, quien pasó por frente del almacén y saludó a Llorente, lo que permitió a don Antonio Morales, como estaba acordado, tomar la iniciativa y formular duras críticas hacia Llorente. Morales y sus compañeros comenzaron entonces a gritar que el comerciante español había dicho a Rubio malas palabras contra Villavicencio y los americanos, afirmación que Llorente negó categóricamente.
Mientras tanto los principales conjurados se dispersaron por la plaza gritando: ¡Están insultando a los americanos! ¡Queremos Junta! ¡Viva el Cabildo! ¡Abajo el mal gobierno! ¡Mueran los bonapartistas!. La ira se tomó el sentir del pueblo.
Indios, blancos, patricios, plebeyos, ricos y pobres empezaron a romper a pedradas las vidrieras y a forzar las puertas. El virrey don Antonio Amar y Borbón desde su palacio, observaba con alarma la situación que se escapaba de sus manos; la guardia que era por cierto muy escasa, estaba al mando de Baraya, quien rápidamente puso las tropas al servicio de la revolución, a tal punto que los cañones se enfilaron hacia el palacio del virrey.
 El virrey muy asustado, aceptó reunir un cabildo extraordinario presidido por él, los oidores y los miembros del Cabildo de Santa Fe; al final de la tarde se impuso dicha reunión, se procedió a la elección de los vocales, de los voceros, que se fue haciendo por admiración; desde el balcón de la casa se iban proponiendo nombres de todos los próceres, y el pueblo los iba aclamando: Camilo Torres, Luis Caicedo y Flórez, Joaquín Gutiérrez, José Miguel Pey, Frutus Joaquín Gutiérrez, Sinforoso Mutis, Miguel Pombo, Luis Fernando Azuola Pedro Groot, Andrés Rosillo, Antonio y Francisco Morales, Antonio Baraya. Hacía las seis de la tarde, José Acevedo y Gómez lanza una arenga que le mereció el título de Tribuno del pueblo, invitando a la gente a que se mantuviera en pie, defendiendo lo que se estaba buscando.
La arenga, termina con unas palabras conocidas:
“Si perdéis estos momentos de efervescencia y calor, si dejáis escapar esta ocasión única y feliz, antes de 12 horas, seréis tratados como los insurgentes, ved los calabozos, los grillos y las cadenas que os esperan.”
Reunido el Cabildo, se procedió a elegir una Junta Suprema de Gobierno; la cual se encargaría del gobierno y se desconocía la autoridad del virrey.
Al día siguiente, el virrey fue puesto preso junto con la virreina, el pueblo se llevó al virrey a la gendarmería y a la virreina la llevaron en medio de insultos a la cárcel del divorcio, que era la cárcel de mujeres; eso no fue bien visto por los miembros de la Junta Suprema de Gobierno, consideraron que era una medida drástica, y por orden de Camilo Torres y de otros miembros de la Junta, fueron liberados y vueltos a palacio, pero ya estaban destituidos. El 15 de agosto son deportados primero a Cartagena y más tarde a España. Acabando así con el virreinato.
Una vez instalada la Junta Suprema, durante las horas finales de la tarde, la noche del 20 de julio y el amanecer del 21 de julio, se redactó el acta que se conoce con el nombre de Acta de Independencia .
En dicha acta, se hace mención entre otras cosas:
Se depositaba en la Junta Suprema el gobierno del reino, interinamente; mientras la misma Junta formaría la Constitución, que lograría afianzar la felicidad pública, contando con las nobles provincias a las que se les pedirán sus diputados, este cuerpo formará el reglamento para elegirlas; y tanto este reglamento, como la Constitución de Gobierno, deberá formarse sobre las bases de la libertad, e independencia, ligadas únicamente por un sistema federativo, cuya representación deberá residir en esta capital para que vele por la seguridad de la Nueva Granada.
Se le empieza a quitar la autoridad al virrey, y se le da a la Junta Suprema, que esta compuesta por criollos, mientras se establece una constitución. Se habla por primera vez de una constitución.
Se alcanza la felicidad pública.
Se involucra a todo el pueblo, con diputados representándolos.
Se considera por primera vez las elecciones.
Se dan las bases de la libertad y de federalismo.
En el acta se dice: “Que protesta no abdicar los derechos imprescriptibles de la soberanía del pueblo en otra persona que la de su augusto y desgraciado monarca don Fernando VII.” Pedían que el rey viniera a gobernar entre ellos, algo que de antemano se sabía no podía ser, puesto que estaba preso, y porque ni siquiera reinaba en España. Quedaba entonces, el gobierno sujeto a la Suprema Junta de Regencia existente en la península y sobre la Constitución que de al pueblo .
El nexo con la Junta de Regencia fue discutido, ahí se podía decir que no había un ánimo de independencia; se dieron cuenta que de un momento a otro, no podían romper los vínculos del pueblo con el monarca, considerado una víctima ante los ojos de la gente, por lo que había hecho el déspota Napoleón. El pobre Fernando VII vivía como un holgazán en su castillo, su padre y su madre en otro; Carlos IV padre designaba a su hijo Fernando VII, quien a su vez designaba a Napoleón, éste a un virrey, y por ello no se daba el gobierno; esta situación no era entendida por el pueblo.
El reconocimiento de la Junta de Regencia origina en el seno mismo de la Junta Suprema una división, denominada regentista y anteregentista; una corriente liberal que era partidaria de desconocer la Regencia, y el otro sector conservador de la Junta, que era partidario de mantener el título de la Regencia.
El acta del 20 de julio es realmente un Acta de Independencia, se reconoce a Fernando VII pero de manera teórica, porque en la práctica se da un gobierno, la voluntad de convocar un congreso, de hacer una constitución, de sentar una patria, y de una vez adoptar una forma federal.
Los acontecimientos continuaron en una forma precipitada, se sigue la propia dinámica de una revolución; don José María Carbonell y otros próceres muy exaltados, se mantenían durante esos días recorriendo las calles agitando las masas, para mantener viva esa llama. El 29 de julio la Junta Suprema convoca “El Congreso General del Reino”, que tendría la misión de darle al territorio emancipado su primera Constitución.
El Congreso General del Reino se reunió el 22 de diciembre, prestó el juramento de “sostener los derechos del rey Fernando VII contra el usurpador de su corona Napoleón Bonaparte y su hermano José; defender la independencia y soberanía de este reino contra toda opresión exterior” . No se daba una ruptura total con el soberano español.

German Village

German Village is a historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just south of the city's downtown. It was settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by a large number of German immigrants, who at one time comprised as much as a third of the city's entire population. It became a city historic district in 1960[2] and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, becoming the list's largest privately funded preservation district,[3] and in 2007, was made a Preserve America Community by the federal government. In 1980, its boundaries increased, and today it is one of the world's premier historic restorations.
History[edit]
In 1796, Congress appropriated the Refugee Lands for Canadian province individuals who had supported the Colonial cause in the American Revolution. By 1802, an American Revolution veteran named John McGowan claimed 328 acres (1.33 km2), most of what would become the German Village. As German immigrants arrived, McGowan sold tracts of land to them. By 1814, a settlement had grown up, originally called "Das Alte Südende" (the Old South End), and German immigrants contributed to building the first statehouse.
Immigration[edit]

By 1830, massive German immigration to the city had occurred. The most influential German newspaper in 1843 was Der Westbote. Many would serve in the American Civil War, thus gaining the universal respect of the local citizens. By 1865, one-third of Columbus's population was German and the community was flourishing. They built up the local neighborhood, including many businesses, such as Hessenauer Jewelers and Lazarus Department Stores, schools, and churches, such as the Ohio-historic St. Mary's Catholic Church, built in 1865 and adorned with a 197-foot (60 m) steeple in 1893.[4] German-American George J. Karb became mayor of the city, twice, at the end of the 19th century and again in the early 20th century.[5]
During the early 20th century, the south end saw newcomers from eastern Europe aside from German immigrants, resulting in brother neighborhoods such as the Hungarian Village.[6]
The local schools the German immigrants constructed and managed were so superior that English-speaking residents of Columbus chose to attend them, such as one that once stood at Fulton Street east of S. Fourth Street.[5][7]
World War I[edit]
The area was in serious decline throughout the first half of the 20th century, partly due to anti-German sentiment during World War I. During that time, the teaching of German in public schools was banned and German textbooks were burned. German street names were changed, such as Germania Street becoming the present-day Stewart Avenue,[8] and Schiller Park was temporarily renamed Washington Park. The anti-German sentiment fueled by the media was so bad that in 1918, German books were burned on Broad Street and at the foot of the Schiller statue. German canine breeds were taken from their owners and slaughtered, including German Shepherds and Dachshunds. Despite the hatred, the Columbus German American community would produce one of America's finest heroes from the war, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, for whom Rickenbacker International Airport in southern Columbus is named.
Declared slum[edit]
Further decline occurred later due to the closing of the local breweries during Prohibition. After the war, the south end was zoned for manufacturing, leading to the erosion of the area's residential feel. In World War II, the streetcar tracks and wrought-iron fences were confiscated for the war effort. By the 1950s, the area had become a slum and the city decided to demolish one-third of the neighborhood.[9][10]

Frank Fetch[edit]
With the Village nearing complete destruction, Frank Fetch defied the common wisdom and purchased a house on S. Wall Street, determined to rebuild the neighborhood. Fetch would create the German Village Society. In June 1960, the society hosted the first Haus und Garten Tour, which attracted visitors and the local media to eight restored homes and two gardens. Today, the tour is one of the city's most popular events.[11] Frank Fetch Park was named after him.
Historic preservation[edit]
Concerned citizens managed to save its historic architecture from demolition in the 1960s by lobbying for a local commission, the German Village Commission, to have power over external changes made to buildings and by getting the area listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.[11] As of 2009, the German Village Society has over 1,000 preservationists who maintain the historic quality of the buildings and neighborhood, and German Village is considered one of the most desirable areas to live in the city.[12] More than 1,600 buildings have been restored since 1960 and it is credited as one of the world's premiere restoration districts.[13] By the 1980s, the restoration was nearly complete. Today, it is the largest privately funded historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.[3]
The area is mostly a residential neighborhood of sturdy, red-brick homes with wrought iron fences along tree-lined, brick-paved streets.
The German Village Guest House has been recognized as one of the best in the Midwest by the New York Post, The Plain Dealer, and the St. Louis Post Dispatch,[14] and positively reviewed by The Washington Post and The Tennessean.[14] It was rated as the "Best Columbus Hotel 2010" by City Search.[15]
In 2007, German Village was recognized by the White House as a Preserve America Community.[16]
Oktoberfest[edit]
German tradition has long reigned in the community in the form of an annual Oktoberfest festival. It originally took place in Schiller Park and has been held at various locations within the German Village neighborhood. Due to new development in the area, it now takes place at the Ohio State Fairgrounds / Ohio Expo Center. The festival was voted to be canceled in 2009, but the Schmidt (owners and operators of Schmidt's Sausage Haus) and Cox families stepped in to keep it running.[17] A smaller Oktoberfest still goes on in the German Village itself, at the Germania Gesang und Sport Verein (Singing and Sports Club) at 543 South Front Street in the old Schlee Brewmaster's House and outdoor garden.[18]
Although German Village is an eclectic community, the area is known as a residential gay village. While there are no gay establishments within German Village, the neighboring Brewery District and Merion Village have several.

Much of the area in present-day south downtown along I-70 was at one point considered part of German Village, including the Market Exchange District, which has experienced a revival alongside German Village. [19]
German Village is bound by Pearl Street on the west; East Livingston Avenue on the north; Lathrop Street, Brust Street, Grant Avenue, Jaeger Street, and Blackberry Alley on the east; and Nursery Lane on the south. [20]
Parks and landmarks[edit]
Schiller Park, named after Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (1759-1805), was once a community meeting ground for German immigrants. It is now the site of recreational facilities, gardens, and an amphitheater that hosts free live performances of Shakespearean plays during the summer months courtesy of Actors' Theatre of Columbus.[21] It is bounded by Jaeger Street and City Park, Reinhard, and Deshler Avenues. It has been the area's center for festivals and neighborhood activities since the 1800s.
The 23-acre park's main entrance, along City Park Avenue, greets visitors with the Huntington Gardens, sponsored by Huntington National Bank and maintained by volunteers, and the Schiller statue. The statue was presented to the park by local residents in 1891. It is a second casting of the statue in Munich, Germany, designed and executed by Max von Widnmann and unveiled on May 9, 1863. The Columbus statue was transported free of charge across the Atlantic. The park is also home to Umbrella Girl, dedicated to the citizens of German Village in October 1996 to replace the missing original sculpture.
The neighborhood's Stewart Alternative Elementary School, was built in 1874. It is one of the oldest remaining school buildings in Columbus, built at the same time as the First and Second Avenue Schools, also still extant.[22]
