The coincidences just keep on mounting. On [the latest 'Mars/stargate/2001' day i.e. the autumn equinox (Sept. 23)], Bush is scheduled to address the United Nations and ask for international help on Iraq - making official the administration's decision to shift its war policy. This will be the second geopolitical 'stargate/monolith event' - the first being the beginning of the Iraq war on the spring equinox, '18 months' after Sept. 2001. And this event will take inside the 'monolith'.
Yes - just look at the pictures below: the monolith from 2001 on the left, and the UN headquarters building (in NYC) on the right. I don't know about you, but I'd say the resemblance is uncanny...
[Bush's visit] to the UN strongly signals the end of the neoconservative war plan, championed by... people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz. Those neo-cons' dream of creating a 'Pax Americana' empire is now seemingly coming to an end.
'Pax Americana' means 'American peace'. And here is what I wrote in Endgame IV:
...the world-changing events of 9/11 were preceded by the fiery descent of the Russian space station Mir in March. 'Mir' means 'peace', as well as 'world'. The decommissioning of Mir thus symbolically signaled the 'end of world peace' - which was of course dramatically actualized later in the same year.
While Mir was 'world peace', Columbia [the space shuttle that crashed in a similar fashion in early 2003] would stand for 'American peace', after all Columbia is another name for the United States.
Amazingly, 'American peace' is exactly what is meant by 'Pax Americana' - the US global domination envisioned by the neo-conservatives... The invasion of Iraq was the first major step toward achieving the Pax Americana. So the symbolic implication of the space-shuttle omen would be that the Bush administration's global ambition will lead to a major disaster [just as the fall of Mir was followed months later by the disaster of 9/11]. This... is likely relevant to the coming 'stargate window'.
Indeed, we are presently witnessing the near-total collapse of the neoconservative war scheme, climaxing right now as Bush goes to the UN to more or less announce he's ditching the Pax Americana plan.
The key question now is: Will the neo-cons go out quietly or will they do whatever it takes to survive? And they are crazy enough to do just about anything... (Will they try preemptively 'dumping' Bush? Will they create another 9/11?) [...]
[...]My investigation has just uncovered a remarkable 'cosmic' design - 'signs in the sky' - revealing ~Oct. 25 to be a time of incredible significance. It is now my view that this is the 'Mars day' of 2003... well, at least comparable in symbolic importance to the Red Planet's closest approach to Earth on Aug. 27 this year. In term of temporal 'echo effects', however, Oct. 25 is a clear echo-date of the beginning of the Iraq war on March 20. [...]
Mars - having an approximately 2-year orbital cycle around the sun - came back to the exact position where it was on 9/11/01 in March 2003... More specifically, this planetary return occurred on March 7... which is about two weeks before the beginning of the war (March 20/spring equinox).
In my last update (Oct. 16) I showed how this slight discrepancy was [really] a coded deviation. As I wrote:
...the Moon's position on March 20 near the edge of Virgo was exactly where Earth would be situated on the other date, March 7, as viewed from the Moon! (In other words, the Moon and Earth have simply switched places.)
In a sense, the apparent 'glitch' was [designed to draw] our attention to the Moon - the very celestial object emphasized in the 'prophetic' film directly related to the year 2001, Kubirck's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
[The movie also visually stresses] the concept of celestial alignments, especially those involving the Moon, the Sun, and the Earth. Which brings us to October 25, 2003... just four days from today [when there will be just such an alignment] exactly at the spot where the Moon was positioned on March 20 and where the Earth was on March 7 in Virgo! (See image below.)
In other words, Oct. 25 is to be an 'echo' [of] the beginning of the Iraq war.
[This connection is made undeniable and much more significant by the following new discovery. It has to do with the causeway of the Great Sphinx. As I wrote previously]:
Even though the Sphinx itself faces due east, its causeway linking the monument to the middle one of the three great Giza pyramids is angled 14 degrees south of due east. As the southernmost sunrise position viewed from Giza is 28 degrees of east, which corresponds to the time of the winter solstice, we can infer that the Sphinx causeway is pinpointing the midpoint between due east (equinox) and the southernmost sunrise position (winter solstice). And it turns out that - chronologically speaking - the midpoint of the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice is... yes, November 8!
This was more or less an accurate inference... However, [technically] the causeway and sunrise will not exactly align on November 8 (not sure why... perhaps due to the elliptical orbital path of the Earth) [and the solstice angle of Giza sunrise] is actually slightly less than 28 degrees from due east (it's more like 27 degrees)...
So I fired up my astronomy program again and tried to ascertain [the exact timing of] the causeway-sunrise alignment... Based on the observation that the causeway was meant to pinpoint the midway point between the equinox sunrise and the solstice sunrise, I calculated that the sunrise angle... was 13.5 degrees from due east...
I was amazed to discover that this angle was produce on... you guessed it, October 25/26!
But that was not all. [I]n the very same time window (around Oct. 26), the rising of Mars on the Giza horizon would take place at the exact sunrise point on the horizon, i.e. 13.5 degrees south of due east! (The Mars rising comes several hours after sunrise.) Astronomically, the chance of this coincidence happening is very small.
...I felt quite satisfied that this was all by 'design' - that this was a significant 'sign'. But then came the next revelation, which put an exclamation on the whole thing.
It turns out that Mars' rising on the horizon will precisely coincide with the beginning of the [Sun-Moon] conjunction (i.e. Sun-Moon-Earth alignment) taking place in the sky...! There is only about a two-hour window for [such an] alignment, as the illustration below shows.
[So,] when Mars is on the horizon aligned with the causeway of the Martian monument (Sphinx) on Oct. 25, the Sun and the Moon just happen to be going through a conjunction at the very spot marked by the Moon on [the 'Mars day'] March 20. Well, this is almost too much...
But what does this cosmic 'sign' mean for the world below? This question is not easy to answer. A useful clue [is] the fact that the Oct. 25 celestial configuration is inseparable from March 20, 2003 - i.e. the beginning of a war. This is not to say that we'll see another war breaking out on Oct. 25. There are many possibilities... I'm not even saying that there will definitely be a big event on/around Oct. 25. But the potential is clearly there for a very meaningful event to take place at that time (Oct. 25-27). So... let's wait and see what happens.
In the aftermath of the nuclear-like explosion in Beirut on August 4th…
…a massive “monolith” – yes, a “monolith” – emerged at the still-smoldering ground zero.
A monolith is a geological feature consisting of a single massive stone or rock, such as some mountains, or a single large piece of rock placed as, or within, a monument or building.
…in Portals (trailer), an obscure 2019 movie that specifically mentions “August 5, 2020”.
On August 5th 2020, an undisclosed research facility successfully creates the world’s first active black hole…Shortly after a cosmic disruption occurs triggering a series of world-wide blackouts; after which millions of mysterious, reality-altering, Portal-like anomalies appear everywhere and anywhere across the planet. While many flee from the sentient objects, the real terror sets in as people are drawn toward and into them.
Coincidence?
To us, a “reality-altering disruption” sounds a lot like our “Sirius Trigger” or “the Kick” which has been unleashing a series of “great floods” in 2020…
…including and especially the coronavirus officially acknowledged around New Year’s Eve/Day precisely when Sirius culminated due south at midnight – a major Sirius Trigger we warned about beforehand.
While this is something Sirius does every year, Sirius B’s return to apoapsis for the first time in 50 years made it extra powerful in 2019-2020.
A reversed configuration of Sirius culminating at noon was in effect around July 2nd…
…unleashing a literal great flood in Kumamoto, Japan. “As above, so below”, an unmistakable pattern confirmation for those with eyes to see.
“Flooding” and “Sirius Trigger” do traditionally go hand in hand. They always have and always will. The combination is literally what the original “Sirius Trigger” was all about in ancient Egypt where the heliacal rising or “rebirth“of Sirius after ~70 days of invisibility signaled the annual inundation of the Nile River. As it brought fertile sediment to their otherwise barren land, it was quite literally the lifeblood of ancient Egypt that sustained the great civilization for thousands of years before the Romans and Greeks.
Today, the helical rising of Sirius takes place around August 4th at the latitude of Giza/Cairo which is unquestionably the most ancient Egyptian place on the entire planet.
This is what “triggered” the massive explosion in Beirut that shocked the world precisely on August 4th.
Creating a Monolith right at ground zero…
…just hours before Portals‘ “August 5, 2020”.
+ – + – +
Why did the “great flood” target Kumamoto, Japan? Because, for starters, Japan is the “Land of the Rising Sun“.
Horus, the son of Osiris, was identified with the rising sun, while Osiris was identified the setting sun. Osiris’s death is Horus’s birth, expressed through the flooding of the Nile – Isis’s water breaking and giving birth on a cosmic scale. Isis and Sirius are one and the same, Osiris’s husband and Horus’s mother.
The sense of “as above, so below” was palpable in July, made glaring by Comet NEOWISE – a rare naked-eye comet – reaching perihelion (closet to the Sun) on July 3rd coinciding with the aforementioned Sirius Trigger…
…subsequently reaching its closest point to Earth on July 22-23 in the “Great Bear” constellation Ursa Major…
…”triggering” a major earthquake in Alaska, a US state with a Big Dipper on its flag i.e. an asterism in the Great Bear.
As if that wasn’t enough…
Would you believe if I told you “Kumamoto” means “bear origin” in Japanese? Well, it does. It was a “great bear flood” we witnessed in Japan in early July!
“It’s all connected” as they say and STR members know we make these connections in realtime or a bit ahead of time regularly. Anyone can say anything in hindsight and that’s not what we do. We’re interested in proving the reality of syncs and nonlinear time through foresight.
(Kumamoto is also right next to Nagasaki surrounded by a nuclear torch pattern. A whole another can of worms we won’t go into in this article.)
+ – + – +
So we knew the ~August 4th rebirth of Sirius at Giza had to be of great importance in 2020. (Along with other key dates in the same window still active as we speak.) Pattern are nothing if not for their ability to anticipate what’s coming.
Plus Giza was considered a “portal” to the Duat underworld and Giza is where a “Stargate” was buried and discovered…
…subsequently decoded using Orion…
…which is a celestial version of the Giza pyramids and vice versa per Robert Bauval’s “Orion Correlation Theory.
Closely related to this is the fact that the angle of Orion‘s Belt points to – you guessed it – Sirius. These are Osiris and Isis respectively.
In a similar way, we find that the Giza pyramids here on earth point directly to…
…Beirut!
Kaboom. An earth-shaking cosmic explosion right before your eyes. (Not over yet.)
Beirut = “Sirius city” via alignment with Giza pyramids
Beirut explosion on Giza’s Sirius Trigger day (heliacal rising) ——
Also interesting, Google Earth’s historical satellite pictures have shown that the monolith has been there since 2016. The monolith was in effect patiently waiting for years to be discovered at the “right time”.
Some people have already gone to the site using the coordinates yesterday and are apparently disappointed to discover that it looks more man-made than alien, as if that was the only issue.
As reader Atom commented:
What is really remarkable is the amount of attention it is getting and how it is intentionally or unintentionally pushing/triggering the ET theme into the public’s mind. I think we’ve never had anything like this ET-related in the MSM ever before. That’s quite something.
Here on Super Torch Ritual we are a bit different than most out there as we avoid focusing on the literal/surface level of anomalies and events. So while it’s nice to get these new details, they are not something that affects our multicontextual decoding, interpretations and projections. The Utah Monolith whispering…

UPDATE – November 29
The Utah Monolith is gone! It’s not there anymore. ???????? Disappeared on the evening of November 27th.
In the NW of France. Carnacs monuments date back to prehistoric times and are a popular tourist attraction. They provide insight into the ancient history, the neolithic age, and the culture of the region.
These monuments are among the most famous and extensive megalithic sites in the world, and are estimated to date back to the neolithic period.
More than 3,000 prehistoric standing stones were erected by the pre-Celtic people of Brittany They form the largest such collection in the world. (1)
From local granite, ancient ancestors, erected them Probably around 3300 BC but some may be as early as 4500BC. (2)
Different people have different stories Some associate the stones with 1st century AD romans, and later Christian occupations. Including that soldiers were turned to stone in pursuit of the pope. (3)(4)(5)
More commonly, local tradition claims. A legion was turned to stone by the popular wizard Merlin From King Arthur legend.
The questions of the carnac stones are still being debated.
Currently at, and around the main site. The 3 major groups of stone rows are: Ménec, Kermario and Kerlescan
Ménec alignments have eleven rows of menhirs. 1,165 by 100 metres; or 3,822 by 328 feet Some considered stone circles made at either end. Especially in the west. The largest stones are 13 feet or 4 meters. It lowers a bit in the middle and rises again in the extreme eastern end.
Kermario alignment is 10 columns. Spread about 1300 meters or 4300 feet long More of a fan like layout. 1029 stones are found in 10 columns. It is also believed a stone circle was here. In the east. Revealed by satellite photography. (6)
Kerlescan alignments is 13 lines. With total length around 800 meters (or, 2600 ft) A smaller group of 555 stones. Exists further to the east of the other two sites. The stones here also vary in size from about 80cm (or 2 foot 7 inches) to 4 meters, or 13 feet. (7)
Petit-Ménec alignments are much smaller and covered in the woods (8)
There are also three known tumuli They are: Carnacéen, Saint-Michel, Tumiac and Mané-er-Hroëk (9)
From the Carnac and Morbihan area. Carnacéen maybe around 7000 years old Containing a burial chamber, and one individual. Callaïs jewelry, stone arm rings and polished stone axe heads from the Italian alps were found too. Because jade is a hard stone. The axe heads 46 cm in length. Would have taken over one thousand hours to produce.
Saint-Michel is a tumulus constructed between around 7000 and 5400 years ago At its base it is 125 metres or 410 ft long; 50 metres (160 ft) wide; and, 10 metres or 33 ft high. (10). To produce. It required 35,000 cubic metres (46,000 cu yd) of stones and earth.
With its known neolithic and prehistoric significance. A chapel was built on top of the Tumulus in 1663 The current building is an identical reconstruction of the 1663 chapel, built in 1926.
Tumiac is known as Caesars mound because of its location as a observation tower during the Veneti war South of the Gulf of Morbihan. In 1853 archaeologists excavated a site, and carbon 14 dated it to 4790 or 4530 BC. The tumulus, elliptical and circular in shape. Is made of layers of clay. It is 50 meters wide; and, 15 meters in height. It contains several rectangular burial chambers. With monolithic supports and quartz slabs. It also had jadeite axes. Firbolite azes and callaïs beads.
Mané-er-Hroëk is a rectangular burial vault of about 5m by 3m. Covered with two slabs. On a 100x60mx8m mound Many stone axes, and jewelry including callaïs were found here. Its modern entrance is an addition.
There are dolmens in the area too They are: Er-Roc’h-Feutet, La madeleine, Kercado, Mané Brizil, Kerlescan, Mané-Kerioned, Crucuno and Crucuno stone rectangle
Er-Roc’h-Feutet An enormous cover stone covers the chamber, and the passageway still has its capstones. Near La Madeleine.
La Madeleine is 12x5m with a broken capstone
Kercado is almost 100 feet wide. It was previously surrounded by stone circle Down its 21 foot main passageway. Neophite gems, beads, human and animal teeth and numerous artifacts were found. Believed to be constructed around 4600 BC.
Mané Brizil
Kerlescan A roughly rectangular mound, with a capstone remaining, and entry from the south.
Kermarquer On a small hill, has two separate chambers.
Mané-Kerioned is a unique group of 3 dolmens. Once covered by a tumulus
Crucuno is a classic dolmen. 1.8 meter pillars supporting a 40 ton tablestone
Crucuno stone rectangle has 21 menhirs. From about 3 to 8 feet height
Other menhirs, and formations that do not fit into categories There’s also the manio quadrilateral, and manio giant
Manio quadrilateral, Is 121 feet long and 23-33 feet wide Believed to have a central mound. Or, originally be a “tertre tumulus”.
Manio giant is near the quadrilateral. A single massive menhir Over 6.5 m or 21 feet tall. It overlooks the Kerlescan alignment.
In 1796, La Tour d’Auvergne attributed the stones to druidic gatherings.
Others said they were stars or planetary formations. And, some that they were used for workouts, and team building exercises.
Did you know? In 1834 Englishmen Francis Ronalds and Alexander Blair drew them. In Sketches at Carnac (Brittany). A popular book for the time.
In the 1860s, extensive excavation was performed It was James Miln (1819–1881), a Scottish archaeologist and historian. He reported that fewer than 700 of the 3,000 stones were still standing, and that the sites should be further investigated. Eventually he engaged Zacharie Le Rouzic (1864–1939), a local boy, as his assistant.
The Musée de Préhistoire is now named in boths honour
Displaying the ‘largest collection of prehistoric exhibits’. Will over 6600 displays, from 136 sites.
The exact purpose and cultural significance of Carnacs megalithic monuments remain topics of scholarly study and debate. They’re a testament to the skills and beliefs of the prehistoric people who constructed them. It continues to attract tourists, and historians from around the world. Interested in understanding our historical and cultural significance.
2001: A Space Odyssey commences with the discovery of a “metal monolith” by early humans, marking the beginning of technological development as primitive tools are set aside. As human evolution progresses, so do the tools employed by humanity. In the space age, characterized as the pinnacle of human advancement, astronauts walking on the moon encounter the same “metal monolith”.
Metal has been a fundamental material propelling humanity forward. Its processing has led to the development of civilizations and the advancement of technologies. A substance initially extracted from beneath the earth now propels humanity into space. This material, serving as a common denominator for both the most primitive and the most advanced societies, has become a focal point for humanity.
With its amorphous structure, metal has taken on various forms through processing, and through Hitit Seramik, “Metall” now manifests in a ceramic form.

Updated Monday, November 30: Just days after the “2001”-esque monolith appeared — and then vanished — in Utah, another similar-looking structure has appeared in Romania. According to the Daily Mail, the shiny triangular structure was discovered on Batca Doamnei Hill, in the city of Piatra Neamt, in northern Romania, facing what is known as the Holy Mountain.
Neamt Culture and Heritage official Rocsana Josanu told Euro Weekly that an investigation has begun. “We have started looking into the strange appearance of the monolith. It is on private property, but we still don’t know who the monolith’s owner is yet,” she said. “It is in a protected area on an archaeological site. Before installing something there, they needed permission from our institution, one that must then be approved by the Ministry of Culture.”
Monolith taken by unknown persons and moved to Duck Island in Seattle's Green Lake.[2][3]
January 5, 2001
A group calling themselves "Some People" come forth to claim the Monolith from Duck Island. The Monolith is stored under the Fremont Bridge while plans are made to install it semi-permanently in Magnuson Park.[4]
The Monolith was fabricated by Louie Raffloer at Seattle's Black Dog Forge.[7] It was a hollow structure measuring 1 by 4 by 9 feet (0.30 m × 1.2 m × 2.7 m), the same proportions as the Monoliths of the "Space Odyssey" series. It was constructed of 16 gauge steel and L-beams. Rebar protruded from the bottom[8] to attach the Monolith to its foundation. Estimates on the weight ranged from 350 to 500 lb (160 to 230 kg).[8][7] The foundation, consisting of 4 steel tubes connected by rebar, was buried in the ground and embedded in concrete. When the Monolith was erected, quick set epoxy was poured into the tubes and the rebar on the bottom of the Monolith was inserted into the tubes.[8]
The overall cost for constructing the Monolith was approximately $250.[9] The majority of the money for the Monolith was raised at the "Apes Of Wrath" Mexican Wrestling Party at Rocket Science Studios on Seattle's Westlake Avenue.[10] Additional money was raised through the sale of "I Support the Monolith" T-shirts, an unsanctioned sidewalk bake sale on Broadway, a private screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey and a benefit concert held at The Speakeasy Café in Belltown.
Initially, the artists creating the Monolith had the idea that the public would never know where the Monolith came from or who constructed it. That changed after the Monolith was removed from the park and found on Duck Island. Artist Caleb Schaber came forward as a spokesperson for Monolith announcing a group of artists named "Some People" were responsible for the art. Schaber later had a duplicate of the Monolith made for himself and in April, 2001, ran for Mayor of Seattle.[6]
No other information was known about "Some People" until two years later when the Seattle Times ran an article about the Monolith's journey around the city. Chris Lodwig finally admitted to reporter Tyrone Beason that he, Titus Grupp and Eric Leuschner had the initial idea for the project and that about 50 other people were involved.[6]
The Utah Department of Public Safety may have found proof that human evolution was meticulously guided by extraterrestrial forces from beyond the stars.
Or, at least, a pretty cool art project.
What did they find? Deep in the middle of the Utah desert, a helicopter spotted a mysterious, 12-foot monolith sticking out of the ground.
One can’t help but draw connections to the nearly identical imagery in the classic 1968 Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey. And if it’s anything like the monolith in that film, there are some serious, earth-shattering implications.
A Very Mysterious Monolith
The discovery was made on November 18th, as Utah’s Department of Public Safety was conducting a routine count of bighorn sheep by helicopter.
Then they spotted it.
Pilot Bret Hutchings detailed the findings to a local NBC affiliate. “One of the biologists is the one who spotted it and we just happened to fly directly over the top of it. He was like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!’ And I was like, ‘what.’ And he’s like, ‘There’s this thing back there – we’ve got to go look at it!’”
And look they did, despite the monolith's eerie similarity to the monolith in Stanley Kubrick's classic 1968 film.
In 2001: A Space Odyssey, early hominids awaken to discover a monolith before them. The monolith seems to influence them, as they learn how to use bones as a weapon, and the famously abstract film implies that it was placed there by an alien lifeforce with the intention of guiding human evolution from prehistoric apes to a space-faring species.
Is this a case of life imitating art?
Out of This World Art
Naturally, a mysterious 12-foot monument in the middle of nowhere raised some big questions.
Like how it got there.
In fact, the area it was discovered in is so remote that officials aren’t even disclosing the exact location, out of fear that visitors would get lost. “It is in a very remote area and if individuals were to attempt to visit the area, there is a significant possibility they may become stranded and require rescue,” a statement read. They also said it looked planted, rather than dropped in. Meaning if it is of earthly origin, someone hauled it in through miles of unforgiving Utah desert.
Still, the individuals who found it believe it to be an art piece, an homage to 2001.
"I'm assuming it's some new wave artist or something or, you know, somebody that was a big ("2001: A Space Odyssey") fan," Hutchings said. And the Department of Public Safety even made light of the potentially outer space origin, reminding everyone that “it is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from.”
It’s a pretty convincing argument. Artists did it! After all, the American Southwest has a unique history with avant-garde art in remote locations. Take Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty, for example, located on the Northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake. Or Michael Heizer’s Double Negative deep in the Nevada desert.
Even if it is merely terrestrial in origin, as logic would suggest, it remains a reminder of the weird and wonderful world we live in. That artists would haul in a 12-foot piece of metal, install it in the ground who-knows how long ago, and spark both international news coverage and some seriously big questions, is an impressive artistic feat.
Or, perhaps, that’s exactly what the government wants us to think.
What do you think? Art installation, or something a bit more… otherworldly?
UPDATE 12/04/2020: The Utah monolith disappeared seemingly overnight a few days later, gone as quickly as it appeared. Similar monoliths have since popped up in Romania and California, deepening a mystery that has baffled public officials. So far, no one has come forward to claim credit for the trio of mysterious monoliths, terrestrial or otherwise.
UPDATE 12/08/2020: A group of California artists have claimed responsibility for the mysterious installation, calling it a piece of "guerrilla art." However, some uncertainty still remains – particularly because of the presence of remarkably similar monuments discovered elsewhere around the world.
Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" continues to generate headlines 52 years after it first opened in theaters. The science-fiction epic is back in the news after crew members from the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources discovered a silver monolith out in the Utah desert. The solid object stood about 10 to 12 feet high. The monolith's exact location was not given as to prevent people from traveling out into the desert.
Helicopter pilot Bret Hutchings told Salt Lake City broadcaster KSL-TV the monolith appeared planted by an anonymous person, with wildlife crew guessing the slab was constructed by an artist or fan of Kubrick's science-fiction landmark. Hutchings quipped, "We were joking around that if one of us suddenly disappears, I guess the rest of us make a run for it…That's been about the strangest thing that I've come across out there in all my years of flying."
The monolith was first discovered Wednesday, November 18 as Hutchings and his crew were flying over the desert counting bighorn sheep. The wildlife crew noticed the monolith sticking up out of a rock and landed the helicopter to investigate.
"One of the biologists is the one who spotted it and we just happened to fly directly over the top of it," Hutchings told KSL-TV. "He was like, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!' And I was like, 'What.' And he's like, 'There's this thing back there — we've got to go look at it!' We were thinking, is this something NASA stuck up there or something? Are they bouncing satellites off it?"
The monolith appears in "2001: A Space Odyssey" at pivotal moments in history to provide a higher consciousness to whomever comes across its path. When the apes discover the monolith during the first chapter of "2001," it's implied the mysterious slab teaches the animal species to use bones as weapons. Later in the film, humanity's discovery of the monolith leads to breakthroughs in artificial intelligence.

Government workers had a close encounter of the strange kind out in the Utah desert.
A crew with the state wildlife resources department was aboard a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter when they spotted a mysterious monolith sticking out of the dirt last week.
About 10 to 12 feet tall, the shiny metal object was firmly planted in the ground, suggesting it wasn't just dropped from above.
Officials suggest it could be have been constructed by an artist or a huge fan of 2001: Space Odyssey - the structure resembles the machines found in Arthur C. Clarke's story.
The unlabeled object is located inside a red rock cove but, fearful amateurs could endanger themselves trying to get a closer look, the workers have withheld details about its exact location.

'He was like, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!' And I was like, 'what.' And he's like, 'There's this thing back there – we've got to go look at it!'
After the copter circled back and landed, the crew went into the cove to investigate.
'We were thinking, Is this something NASA stuck up there or something? Are they bouncing satellites off it?' Hutchings said.

Officials suggest it could be have been constructed by an artist or a huge fan of 2001: Space Odyssey - the structure resembles the machines found in Arthur C. Clarke's story (pictured)

State workers climb the monolith to give a sense of its size. A biologist with the wildlife resources office spotted the object from the sky, prompting the crew to land and investigate
'We were kind of joking around that if one of us suddenly disappears, then the rest of us make a run for it.'
All jokes aside, Hutchings believes the structure is probably some kind of artwork.
'I'm assuming it's some new wave artist or something or, you know, somebody that was a big [2001: A Space Odyssey] fan,' he said.
Department of Public Safety pilot Bret Hutchings told KSL-TV the unmarked object 'is about the strangest thing that I've come across out there in all my years of flying,'
The monolith is located inside a red rock cove but workers have withheld details about its exact location to prevent others from endangering themselves trying to get a closer look
Utah has a history of 'land art,' unusual installations that cropped up far from population centers in the 1960s and '70s.
The most famous, Spiral Jetty, a 1,500-foot-long coil by artist Robert Smithson in 1970 that's composed entirely of mud, salt crystals and basalt.
Located on the northeastern edge of the Great Salt Lake near Rozel Point, the jetty appears and disappears depending on water levels.

So far, no one has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the monolith, though.

The workers took video and photos of the object, but left in place.
So far, it hasn't disturbed the bighorn sheep that live in the southern half of Utah.
Their population was once down to under a thousand in the 1970s, but conservation efforts have seen them make a big comeback in recent decades.

The sheep are less wary of people in early December, which is their mating season.
'Because they're focused on courtship and breeding, they'll allow vehicles to get closer to them than they normally would,' Brent Stettler of Utah Division of Wildlife Resources told My National Parks Trip Media.
