Un 8 de julio de 1839 vino al mundo en Nueva York John Davison Rockefeller de una madre de recia moral cristiana y un padre estafador. A los ocho años comenzó a hacer negocios y a los 13 ya prestaba dinero a un 7 por ciento de interés. Estaba claro que tenía que ser rico, tal como apunta Nieves Concostrina.
