The belt stars correspond to Third, Second, and First Mesas. The distance between Betatakin and Canyon de Chelly is stretched about 12 miles in relation to the constellation; the distance between Walnut Canyon and Homolovi is stretched about 10 miles--not bad, considering it's over 110 miles between Betatakin in the north and Homolovi in the south.

The red dot at the center of the Flower of Life is called the Tuuwanasavi, literally "sand-middle." It is is conceptualized as the Center-place,
the spiritual heart of the Hopi cosmos. This sandy plain is actually located about 4 miles south-southwest of the village of Oraibi on Third Mesa.
In the ancient Egyptian cosmogony, a similar spot corresponds to the Primordial Mound rising from the Ocean of Creation, where the temple at Heliopolis was later constructed. This axis mundi housed the conically shaped, meteoric benben stone, upon which the Bennu bird (phoenix) perched. The inner rectangle (above) is comprised of four loci: (1) Betatakin / Keet Seel (Navajo National Monument), (2) Canyon de Chelly National Monument (which jointly form the base of the Orion projection on the Arizona desert and run along the northeastern escarpment of Black Mesa), (3) Sunset Crater National Monument (a volcano that erupted in 1064 AD), and (4) a point about 18 miles south of Homolovi Ruins State Park, which is located on the right arm of the terrestrial Orion as it reaches southward toward the ancient Hohokam territory in the Phoenix Basin. It's too bad that the Flower of Life doesn't pass through Las Vegas, as it would likely improve the luck of those taking advantage of Vegas vacation packages!

Sirius, the brightest star in the heavens, corresponds to Chaco Canyon, the largest Ancestral Puebloan ruin site in the American Southwest.
Gary David's books contend that the Chichimecs (literally "Sons of the Dog") lived in Chaco Canyon and perhaps constructed the pueblos there,
before they migrated southward in the 13th century AD to become the Aztecs in the Valley of Mexico.

About 45 miles south of Ajo, Arizona, on the U.S.-Mexico border is Vertex 17 of the Becker-Hagens "Earthstar" Planetary Grid System.
This grid point is one of 62 major vertices of the mercator-based hexakis icosahedron projected on the Earth globe. With 120 faces, 180 edges,
and 62 vertices, the hexakis icosahedron can be conceptualized as a giant earth-crystal. Coordinates for Cerro Cubabi: 31.72° N, 112°.80W.
Two great circles enclose the Arizona Orion Correlation: an orange “Yang” great circle and a lime-green “Balance” great circle.
This respectively represents Orion's characteristic male, or yang, energy and the Hopi ceremonial cycle that functions to keep the Earth in balance.

This Golden Mean spiral starts at the Throat chakra located at Grand Falls, arcs through the San Francisco Peaks (home of the kachinas, or katsinam), sweeps by the Hopi villages of Oraibi, Shungopovi, and Walpi (the Belt), intersects Orion's right hand, circles into the Hyades horns, and passes through Gamma Tauri.

The Arizona Orion Correlation's upper part is oriented southwest. The left arm extends from Bellatrix/Wupatki Ruin toward Grand Canyon. It passes Hopi Point on the South Rim, and terminates within the canyon near a butte named Osiris Temple. It celestially corresponds to Pi 3 Orionis.
The Sipapuni (Sípàapuni), or Hopi "Place of Emergence," is a travertine (limestone) dome located on the north bank of the Little Colorado River.
Specifically, it corresponds to Pi 5 Orionis. However, the possible exoplanet status of Pi 3 Orionis and the wormhole nature of the Sipapuni
jointly represent the general function of Grand Canyon in Hopi cosmology. The Hopi perhaps see the Sipapuni as the most sacred spot on Earth.

Looking towrd the southeast, we see the location of the ancestral Hopi ruin site of Wupatki National Monument (corresponding to Bellatrix,
left shoulder of the Ari-zona Orion Correlation). The San Francisco Peaks, home of the Hopi kachinas from July until December, are a few miles
to the south. The Hopi Mesas are over 50 miles northeast of Wupatki. The Sipapuni is located on the Little Colorado River 3.5 miles upstream
from its confluence with the Colorado River. Osiris Temple (corresponding to Pi 3 Orionis) is downstream on the north bank of the Colorado River.
The ancient Egyptians associated Osiris with Orion. Today some people believe that a "Lost City of the Dead," was once located in Grand Canyon. It was reputedly found in 1909 by G.E. Kincaid on an expedition for the Smithsonian Institution. He described it as being filled with ancient Egyptian artifacts, mummies, and hieroglyphics as well as some Asian artifacts. Other people believe the complex is still there, waiting to be rediscovered.

The Zulu sangoma (shaman) Credo Mutwa states that creatures from a certain star in Orion built an ancient subterranean city of copper in the Rwenzori Mts. ("Mountains of the Moon"), located on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Great Zimbabwe in southern Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) is 320 miles south of the Zambezi River, 1270 – 1550 AD, population c. 18,000. At this eponymous site the roofless oval structure of the "Great Enclosure" is 800 ft long. Its mortar-less granite walls are 30 ft. high and 20 ft. thick at the base. Small monoliths on top of the eastern arc of the Great Enclosure align with three stars in the constellation Orion: Bellatrix, Alnilam, and Saiph shortly before sunrise on winter solstice.

This possible Orion Correlation is located in the Mexican states of Tabasco and Chiapas. Tortuguero corresponds to Alnitak. (The Great Pyramid at Giza and Hopi First Mesa in Arizona also mirror this belt star.) Chilapa corresponds to Alnilam (the middle belt star), and Tepetitán corresponds to Mintaka. Comalcalco corresponds to Betelgeuse, but perhaps only symbolically so. This Maya city that burgeoned between 700 and 900 AD is unique because its pyramids are constructed of kiln-fired bricks. Moreover, many of the mud bricks had been inscribed with Mayan glyphs, but over 500 of them contain various foreign scripts, such as Phoenician, Egyptian, Libyan, Tifinagh, Chinese, Burmese, and even Ogam.
Jmetic Lubton, which corresponds to Saiph, was a ceremonial city with a carved sculpture of what in Tzotzil means “Our Mother Tired Rock.” The famous Maya site of Palenque corresponds to Rigel. However, even if that apex of the constellation is moved north to coincide with the actual site, we still have Tila/Orion Nebula at the center of the three Mayan hearthstones.
According to National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez, the Maya hold a ceremony at Tila dedicated to a black earth god, perhaps Ek Chuuah or God M/L. “Every June [solstice?] thousands and thousands of people crowd into the Chiapas town of Tila to see the Black Christ which hangs in the Catholic church in town. The town more than triples in size during the pilgrimage. Maya scholars have told me that the Black Christ is an embodiment of a Maya earth lord and that the blending of Catholic and Maya traditions is a prime example of syncretic religion.”

The month of August is upon us once again, bringing with it humid days and sultry nights for North American observers.
You’ll often hear the first few weeks of August referred to as the Dog Days of Summer. Certainly, the oppressive midday heat may make you feel like lounging around in the shade like our canine companions. But did you know there is an astronomical tie-in for the Dog Days as well?
We’ve written extensively about the Dog Days of Summer previously, and how the 1460 year long Sothic Cycle of the ancient Egyptians became attributed to the Greek adoption of Sothis, and later in medieval times to the ‘Dog Star’ Sirius. Like the Blue Moon, say something wrong enough, long enough, and it successfully sticks and enters into meme-bank of popular culture.

A water monopoly empire, the Egyptians livelihood rested on knowing when the annual flooding of the Nile was about to occur. To this end, they relied on the first seasonal spotting of Sirius at dawn. Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, and you can just pick out the flicker of Sirius in early August low to the southeast if you know exactly where to look for it.

Sirius lies at a declination of just under 17 degrees south of the celestial equator. It’s interesting to note that in modern times, the annual flooding of the Nile (prior to the completion of the Aswan Dam in 1970) is commemorated as occurring right around August 15th. Why the discrepancy? Part of it is due to the 26,000 year wobbling of the Earth’s axis known as the Precession of the Equinoxes; also, the Sothic calendar had no intercalculary or embolismic (think leap days) to keep a Sothic year in sync with the sidereal year. The Sothic cycle from one average first sighting of Sirius to another is 365.25 days, and just 9 minutes and 8 seconds short of a sidereal year.

But that does add up over time. German historian Eduard Meyer first described the Sothic Cycle in 1904, and tablets mention its use as a calendar back to 2781 BC. And just over 3 Sothic periods later (note that 1460= 365.25 x 4, which is the number of Julian years equal to 1461 Sothic years, as the two cycles ‘sync up’), and the flooding of the Nile now no longer quite coincides with the first sighting of Sirius.
Such a simultaneous sighting with the sunrise is known in astronomy as a heliacal rising. Remember that atmospheric extinction plays a role sighting Sirius in the swampy air mass of the atmosphere low to the horizon, taking its usual brilliant luster of magnitude -1.46 down to a more than a full magnitude and diminishing its intensity over 2.5 times.
This year, we transposed the seasonal predicted ‘first sightings’ of Sirius versus latitude onto a map of North America:

Another factor that has skewed the date of first ‘Sirius-sign’ is the apparent motion of the star itself. At 8.6 light years distant, Sirius appears to move 1.3 arc seconds per year. That’s not much, but over the span of one Sothic cycle, that amounts up to 31.6’, just larger than the average diameter of a Full Moon.
Sirius has been the star of legends and lore as well, not the least of which is the curious case of the Dogon people of Mali and their supposed privileged knowledge of its white dwarf companion star. Alvan Graham Clark and his father discovered Sirius B in 1862 as they tested out their shiny new 18.5-inch refractor. And speaking of Sirius B, keep a telescopic eye on the Dog Star, as the best chances to spy Sirius B peeking out from the glare of its primary are coming right up around 2020.

Repeating the visual feat of spying Sirius B low in the dawn can give you an appreciation as to the astronomical skill of ancient cultures. They not only realized the first sighting of Sirius in the dawn skies coincided with the annual Nile flooding, but they identified the discrepancy between the Sothic and sidereal year, to boot. Not bad, using nothing but naked eye observations. Such ability must have almost seemed magical to the ancients, as if the stars had laid out a celestial edge for the Egyptians to exploit.

You can also exploit one method of teasing out Sirius from the dawn sky a bit early that wasn’t available to those Egyptian astronomer priests: using a pair of binoculars to sweep the skies. Can you nab Sirius with a telescope and track it up into the daytime skies? Sirius is just bright enough to see in the daytime against a clear blue sky with good transparency if you know exactly where to look for it.

My thanks to Taylor Morgeson for discovering another Secret in Plain Sight after watching my videos. Taylor is teaching music theory and finishing up his thesis at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton.
First of all, Denton is at 33°13’N latitude. The numbers 33 and 13 are obviously both very important to freemasons.
Taylor says that if you draw a line from the center of the fountain in the linear complex in front of the UNT Administration building…

I profiled the Manitoba Legislative Building (MLB) in my Jerusalem Part 2 video because it is a freemasonic replica of Solomon’s Temple. Frank Albo has written a book called “The Hermetic Code” about the MLB and he also gives tours of the building when he’s in his home town:

Perhaps the MLB inspired the soon to be Dr. Albo to get his PhD in Architectural History, which is what he is working on now at Cambridge. Frank also became a freemason to see what else he could discover.
Winnipeg is the center of North America. The MLB is thus its geodetic center.

Taylor Morgeson also points out that if you draw a triangle connecting the MLB with UNT and Phoenix Arizona (which is also on the 33rd parallel) the angle at the top of the triangle on Google Maps measures 33°. I verified this in SketchUp.
I noticed that the triangle looks like a Pythagorean 3:4:5 triangle under the spherical projection of Google Earth. This is close but not exact because the lines are actually sections of great circles whose centers are at the center of the Earth.
Taylor tells me there’s another very interesting building at UNT’s College of Music called the Winspear Auditorium, part of the Murchison Performing Arts Center whose axis is also oriented North-South:

This building seems to be a temple of the pentagon/pentagram. A temple of music and of life, that’s beautiful.
I used the line tool in Google Earth to measure the distance from the pentagonal window on the north side of the Winspear Auditorium to the south door of the MLB in Winnipeg.
This distance is 6,055,555 feet.

Here’s a video Taylor made of his alma mater. Check out “The Sustaining Arch” and how it aligns with the jet of water from the fountain and the tower on the top of the UNT Administration building. This line continues all the way to the MLB.

Arizona No. 1 for startups, Kauffman study finds
Arizona had the highest entrepreneurial activity rate of any state last year, according to new research from the Kauffman Foundation.

Definitely worth of a major shout-out
When I arrived in Arizona 4 years ago to help them build their entrepreneurship program, I had already spent over 15 years in Silicon Valley – the mecca for entrepreneurship (and venture capital). Needless to say I was cynical and underwhelmed by the scope and quality of the entrepreneurial community, but I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. Most areas outside of the “big 3” (Silicon Valley, NY, Boston) or the up-and-coming-3 (Denver, Austin, LA) lack the culture, critical mass or role models to sustain a vibrant entrepreneurial community. Phoenix was no different, and it wasn’t the fault of the entrepreneurs or other talented would-be entrepreneurs. Again, without a critical mass of role models (successful entrepreneurs), supporting companies, capital and a culture of risk and innovation – it just doesn’t happen. But it did happen in Arizona- particularly in the Phoenix metro area. After 4 years, we hit the top spot in the country for entrepreneurial activity. It wasn’t due to any one silver bullet. It was a combination of simultaneous and independent efforts by many individuals and institutions, all committed to stimulating entrepreneurship in the region. Some of the efforts were predictable – other regions have used similar techniques and failed. If these efforts weren’t buoyed by other activities and other individuals, they might have fizzled in Arizona too. But the synergy worked, and continues to work – primarily due to these influences:
Arizona State University
 First and foremost, Michael Crow, the President of ASU deserves a lot of credit for his leadership. He made Entrepreneurship a top priority as one of his tenets of “The New American University”; Entrepreneurship is embedded in every college and in every department. And then of course there’s Skysong – which has been been a leader and catalyst, acellerating entrepreneurship activity in the region ever since Gordon McConnell took the helm last year.
Gangplank and the New Acellerators
Sure, New York and Silicon Valley have acellerators: Programs where they get a half dozen companies to spend a summer hoping to get a prototype they can demo before VCs. Rather than placing a few bets that might enrich a few companies and investors, Gangplank is more concerned with building a solid community and a permanent ecosystem for entrepreneurs. “Gangplanks” are part incubators, acellerators, hackspaces, workspaces, learning spaces, technology centers and community centers. Each one is a multifaceted combination of active partnerships between  entrepreneurs, government, university and community. Under Derek Neighbors‘ leadership and tireless hard work, Gangplank has recently opened it’s third location, and has inspired others to start similar hybrid acellerators such as LaunchSpot, AZ Disputors, and Cohoots.
Mentors and Angels
Arizona may be in the desert, but there is no Sand Hill Road, like in Silicon Valley, concentrated with billions of dollars in venture capital along valuable connections and advice – the vital fuel for entrepreneurial startups. In the desert, it takes more than just money and savvy to nurture growth let alone tranform the area into the country’s #1 entrepreneurial region: It takes vision, patience and commitment – embodied by veteran entrepreneur, mentor and angel investor Francine Hardaway and her partners at Stealthmode. Dr. Hardaway sets the pace for committed mentorship and evangelaism among a handful of Arizona professionals who regularly work with fledgling companies and young entrepreneurs – making sure they get the attention and direction they need. Along with others like Jim Goulka of Arizona Technology Investment Form and Dee Harris of Desert Angels, they not only invest, but they organize, connect, and make sure their considerable infuence and expertise benefits the young entrepreneurs of Arizona who need it most.
Government
“We’re here from the government and we’re here to help” is what you’d expect – complete with tax breaks, proclamations, ribbon cuttings and photo-ops – none of which benefit struggling high-tech entrepreneurs. Most politicians and officials would rather take meetings with the CEO of the billion dollar corporation in their district than with a few entrepreneurs still working out of garages. In Arizona, the local officials have been particularly engaged with entrepreneurs in the trenches – not only by creating and supporting entrepreneur friendly programs such as Innovation Arizona, the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Arizona Innovation Challenge that fund entrepreneurship and innovation, but also by interacting with entrepreneurs at networking events and meetings. And like the mentors and angels, these officials really seem to get a sense of pleasure in connecting entrepreneurs with the help and resources they need.
The Entrepreneurs
And of course, it’s the entrepreneurs themselves that make Arizona the #1 place in the country for entrepreneurial activity. This isn’t some obvious, trivial point. It’s not easy being an entrepreneur in a region isolated from the major tech and financial hubs; these vital aspects of the Silicon Valley-like ecosystem than many take for granted simply did not exist here until a few short years ago. Networking events, acellerators, coworking spaces, the informal collaboration networks that entrepreneurs in other regions take for granted all had to be created in the past few years – often by the busy entrepreneurs themselves. In most other regions where these support systems don’t exist, the talent entrepreneurs simply relocate to Silicon Valley, New York or Boston. The Arizona entrepreneurs stuck it out and worked hard to make it work. And it bears repeating: The highly respected Kauffman Foundation’s annual report on the state of Entrepreneurship found that Arizona has the highest entrepreneurial activity in the United States.
I am not surprised. These days, it’s like living in Silicon Valley during the days when Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were getting started, and attending “home brew club meetings”, or during the early dotcom days when Jim Clark was walking around the Stanford campus looking for a student who had heard of a “web browser.” I am not surprised. And I am proud and excited to be in Arizona, at this time in history.
