La fuerza de gravedad según Einstein

La fuerza de gravedad es una de las mayores incógnitas de todos los tiempos, un primer acercamiento fue planteado por Isaac Newton, quien afirmaba que se trata de una fuerza instantánea, aunque muchas dudas quedaban en el aire. Otra teoría, que se ajustaba mucho más a la realidad, fue la que planteó Albert Einstein. Te propongo que hoy conozcamos algunos detalles interesantes sobre la cuestión.

El gran Isaac Newton fue uno de los primeros físicos que buscaron encontrar una explicación absoluta sobre la fuerza de gravedad, por supuesto, mucho después que los primeros acercamientos desde la gloriosa civilización de la Antigua Grecia.
Sin embargo, aunque los esfuerzos de Newton fueron más que notables y aunque permitieron explicar el movimiento de los planetas mediante sus fórmulas, había otros sucesos, como el caso del planeta Mercurio, que no se ajustaban completamente a las predicciones de estos cálculos.

Albert Einstein formuló su razonamiento basándose en su teoría de que nada puede viajar más rápido que la luz. Por lo tanto se imaginaba la siguiente escena: el Sol emite su luz y esta nos llega a nosotros unos 8 minutos después, esto por la distancia que nos separa, la cual es de aproximadamente unos 150 millones de kilómetros.
Ahora, supongamos que el Sol repentinamente desaparece. Es curioso saber que si esto ocurriese, en la Tierra todavía tendríamos 8 minutos de luz antes de que los últimos rayos del Sol lleguen a nuestro planeta.
Sin embargo, Isaac Newton afirmaba que la gravedad era una fuerza instantánea, por lo tanto, al momento de desaparecer, la fuerza de gravedad que mantiene a la Tierra girando alrededor del Sol desaparecería, por lo que ésta saldría disparada mucho antes de que la luz pudiera llegar a tocar la Tierra, pero eso estaba en contra de la idea de que nada puede viajar más rápido que la luz.

Einstein, tras muchas horas de insomnio y cafeína llegó a una genial explicación: la gravedad, cuya presencia estaba presente en todos lados donde existiera un cuerpo, no se trataba de una fuerza en sí, sino de geometría, la presencia de un cuerpo en el espacio deformaba el “espacio-tiempo” y era esta deformación lo que atraía a los cuerpos entre ellos.
Para poder entender un poco más este concepto, imaginemos el siguiente experimento. En un aro en el cual hemos colocada una tela elástica, hacemos rodar una pequeña pelota de una extremo a otro, el cual pasa sin ningún problema en línea recta. Sin embargo, si ahora colocamos un objeto pesado como una bola de metal en el centro de este aro, la tela se deforma alrededor de él, formando una curvatura que es más notoria entre más cerca está de esta bola de metal.
Ahora, si volvemos a hacer rodar la pelotita veremos que esta se desvía de su trayectoria recta debido a la curvatura formada por la bola de metal. Pues esto es lo que dedujo Einstein: el espacio y el tiempo son deformados ante la presencia de una masa, pero ¿hemos dicho también el tiempo? Sí y como recordarás, ya hemos hablado al respecto, cuando nuestro compañero Otto nos brindó una detallada explicación de la teoría de la relatividad general de Einstein, ¿recuerdas?

Ecuaciones de Einstein
Las Ecuaciones de Einstein son el centro de la relatividad general. Proporcionan una formulación precisa, utilizando el lenguaje de las matemáticas, de la relación entre la geometría del espacio-tiempo y las propiedades de la materia.

Golden Section in the Apple

I researched the Golden Section and its use in design extensively for my dissertation earlier this year. Its proportions are believed to yield aesthetically pleasing results when implemented by designers and many architects including Leonardo Da Vinci, Leon Battista Alberti and Le Corbusier have used the Golden Ratio as a proportioning system for designing facades.
However, being an Apple fan, I was intrigued when @dangullan pointed out that Apple have used the system in designing their Logo. Furthermore, the new iCloud logo is heavily based on the the Golden Ratio. I would be very interested to know whether Apple also use the Golden Ratio in their product design as I would class this as fulfilling a near universally shared aesthetic taste – or at least a widely shared one. It had initially been my intention to define a timeless aesthetic in my dissertation – an aesthetic taste shared by all and from all times. An aesthetic based on instinct rather than acquired taste or hermeneutic experience.
