1. Impacto del plan Stargate de Trump. La inversión de 500.000 millones de dólares en infraestructura de IA por parte de EE.UU. ciertamente dejó a Europa definitivamente fuera de juego. El problema de Europa es más estructural . El problema de Europa es que tenemos magníficas universidades y talento e incluso fondos para ellas (pero su i+D se aprovecha más en US, Israel o China), lo que no tenemos son empresas, y las pocas que hay tienen unos enormes problemas para escalar. En Europa el énfasis en la regulación ha provocado una cultura del “riesgo”, no de las oportunidades.
2. Reacción ante el avance de DeepSeek. La startup china logró desarrollar un chatbot avanzado a una fracción del costo de competidores como OpenAI, lo que reavivó la esperanza de que la carrera de la IA no dependa solo de la inversión masiva.
Deepseek-R1 es un modelo técnicamente relevante, pero su credibilidad está en entredicho. Su futuro fuera de China es incierto, y podría quedar relegado al mercado interno, como pasó con Ali Cloud. Lo que sí va a tener cada vez más relevancia son los modelos destilados con un uso específico.
3. Cambio en la perspectiva de Macron. La combinación de estos dos eventos (Stargate y DeepSeek) ha llevado a Macron a replantear la estrategia europea de IA, pasando de una visión reguladora e inclusiva a una más competitiva y enfocada en soberanía tecnológica.
4. Riesgo de irrelevancia de la Cumbre de IA de París. Inicialmente concebida para promover una IA sostenible e inclusiva, la cumbre ahora busca reforzar la posición de Europa en la industria.
5. Nueva estrategia de “preferencia europea”. Macron impulsa incentivos como subsidios, acceso a datos preferenciales y mayor financiación para fomentar la compra de productos europeos de IA.
6. Críticas a la estrategia proteccionista. Inversores tecnológicos advierten que priorizar proveedores locales en lugar de los mejores del mercado ha llevado al fracaso de iniciativas europeas previas, como Qwant o Gaia-X. Ciertamente si no hay plan para especialización, internacionalización y escalado en el mercado el proteccionismo no resolverá nada.
7. Importancia estratégica de la IA para Europa. Macron ve la IA como una cuestión de civilización y supervivencia cultural, argumentando que la tecnología debe reflejar valores europeos en lugar de estar dominada por visiones estadounidenses o chinas.
8 Posible pausa en la regulación de IA en la UE. En respuesta a las preocupaciones sobre el impacto negativo de la Ley de IA, se especula que Macron podría pedir una revisión o ralentización de la regulación.

Huge crowds gather in 'Hands Off' rallies nationwide in protest of Trump administration
Elected officials in Washington joined the protests.
Tens of thousands of protesters mustered in cities and towns across the country on Saturday to sound off against the Trump administration's cuts to the federal government and its policies.
Carrying homemade posters and chanting "Hands Off," the protesters came out to the more than 1,200 rallies nationwide despite rain in many cities, according to organizers.
Several Democratic heavyweights, including some members of Congress, joined the protests and urged the public not to stand for what they called the administration's mismanagement and breaking with constitutional norms.

"Our founders wrote a Constitution that did not begin with 'We the dictators,'" Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., told the crowd gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., where organizers said over 100,000 people gathered.
He slammed the administration for several of its policies, including President Donald Trump's implementing of tariffs on nearly every country.

"Their tariffs are not only imbecilic -- they're illegal, they're unconstitutional, and we're going to turn this around," he said.
Stan and Cindy Prusik, who attended the D.C. rally, told ABC News they are worried about the future of their children and grandchildren along with the economy.
"I don't sleep well. I'm scared," Cindy Prusik said. "We've got money we've saved all of our lives, our retirement -- it's not going to be there. I'm afraid of what is going to happen with the world, let alone the American markets. I'm upset we've made enemies out of countries that were formerly our friends. It's just all so uncertain."
"We have daughters -- we have to protect our daughters and our grandkids," Stan Prusik added.

Paul Osadebe, a lawyer for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, spoke during the rally in Washington and said he's been asked by the Trump administration and Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency to take a buyout offer.
Osadebe, a union steward with AFGE Local 476, told the crowd the oligarchs do not "value you or your life or your community."
"We're seeing that they don't care who they have to destroy or who they have to hurt to get what they want," he said.

Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., echoed his statement with a warning that it will get worse.
"They would have us believe if we gave them all of control, everything would be OK," he said. "But breaking news, they have the control, and look at where we are now: massive inequality across the country."
