Great is Baba and even Greater are His Leelas.. Baba has his own ways of answering to his devotees.. Today one of my dear ones had called me and while we were talking on the phone - he said " Didi, - Lately, I have been reading ur mails about the Shivlings around the world but you are a Sai devotee then why are you sending mails about the Shivlings. Why pray to anyone else when Baba is there".. I had a long day today and so I just did not let this topic go further but now when I sat to compose todays Shri Shirdi Sai Speaks mail--I could not believe my eyes when I came across the below pictures just before starting this mail and plus it never occured to me that there was one Shivling in Gurusthan in Shirdi too.. Once again I Salute Baba !! Its hard to express or understand Sai leelas but they will always be close to my heart and my soul..
Sai Bhakt
Deepa H
On the morning of 15th August`1912, at 11 0' clock G. K. Dixit brought the Padukas, carrying them on his head.
From Khandoba temple, with musical instruments playing,
the procession came up to Dwarkamai where Sai Baba touched them
while saying that they were Allah's padukas and to put them at the foot of the Neem tree.
A small Temple was built under the Neem tree and Baba's padukas were placed therein.
Arati was already being performed every day in Sathe Wada and Dixit Wada,
and with the installation of these Padukas near the Neem Tree, at Gurusthan,a third Arati was also started by Shri.G. K. Dixit.
A Shiva-lingam was also installed in the Gurusthan the same year.
Sai Baba first came to Shirdi in the form of
Bal Yogi - a child ascetic. He was first spotted seated under
a Neem tree. This place came to be known as
Gurusthan. The renovation of Gurusthan was made on
30th September, 1941. The present temple was built after this period.
There is a small shrine in Gurusthan. On a elevated platform
of this shrine a big portrait of Baba is placed.
On the side is a marble statue of Baba.
In front of the portrait is a Shivling and the Nandi.
Photos of twelve Jyotirlingas are kept in the temple.
The branches of the Neem tree have come out through the roof of the temple
As years passed , the exterior look of the Gurusthan kept changing but the shivling inside the Gurusthan remained the same..
And after 100 years, this is the way Gurusthan appears now...
My Sacred Pranams to this holy shivling in Gurusthan in Shirdi- which will be 100 yrs old in Aug of 2012
May the blessed darshan of this Holy Shivling take us all to the abode of Lord Shiva
May this Sacred Shivling make our faith in Baba more stronger and make us all truly live by Baba's words that All Gods are One.
The incident behind Shiv Lingam shows another tricky deed of Lord Baba. Megha, a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva was sent to Lord Baba for his spiritual advancement by his master Rao Bahadur Hari Vinayak Sathe. He was a simple Gujarati Brahmin who saw Lord Shiva in Baba. It was characteristic of Lord Baba to encourage His devotee to worship his own chosen deity. For this reason, Lord Baba appeared to him in dream and ordered him to draw a trident leaving behind few grains of Akshata (red-coloured rice). Megha was confused about the affair and went to Lord Baba for its clarification. Lord Baba straight away consented and cleared doubt of Megha thereby asking him to carry out the order. The next day a devotee came to Lord Baba and gifted Him a Shivling. He said to Megha who turned up there recently, “See, Shankar has come, protect (i.e.) worship Him now!” At the same time, Kakasaheb Dixit was meditating in Dixit Wada after bath and he had vision of Lord Shiv. At the every moment Megha came with gifted Shivling and told what happened in mosque few minutes back. Kakasaheb Dixit, also in turn, shared his recent vision about Shivling. Thus Lord Baba confirmed Megha’s belief in Him. This Shivlingam was worshipped by Megha till his end. Villagers of Shirdi were of the opinion that if there was a tomb according to Lord Baba, then there must be Shivling too. So this Shivling which was worshipped by Megha till end of his days was installed at Gurusthan.
