McDonald’s, the US-based hamburger chain, is to open its first ever vegetarian-only outlets in two Indian pilgrimage centres as it seeks to expand in a market where cows are sacred and beef-eating taboo.
The decision to open vegetarian-only outlets reflects the concessions that foreign fast-food chains are making to local Indian tastes, as they seek to cater to a huge and fast-growing market for affordable restaurant meals by young people, and families on limited budgets. |

McDonald's, la cadena de hamburgueserías norteamericana, es abrir sus primeras tomas nunca sólo vegetariana en dos centros de peregrinación hindú como pretende expandirse en un mercado donde las vacas son tabú sagrado y comer carne.
La decisión de abrir las salidas sólo vegetariana refleja las concesiones que cadenas de comida rápida extranjeras están haciendo a los gustos locales de indios, como tratan de atender a un mercado enorme y creciente para comidas en restaurantes asequibles por jóvenes y familias con presupuestos limitados. |
