What you will need:
PSP 8 (or any version you may have) Kamikaze font This bg fill:
Step 1 Open a new canvas in any size you wish (as long as your text will fit). Select as Raster Background, 16 Mill Colors, white.
Step 2 Setup your Materials palette with the following colors:
Foreground and Stroke Properties: #716D84
Background and Fill Properties: Gradient of white & #716D84 *see image below for settings*
Step 3 Go to Layers > New Raster Layer (this will create a new layer above the Background layer).
Now create your text as Floating (or if you prefer as Vector and adjust accordingly), *size of choice (I used 82 pt), 1 px stroke, anti-alias (other settings adjust to personal choice)
Step 4 Type your text, move to place where you wish on canvas and defloat (Selections > Defloat or Objects > Align > Center in Canvas if text is as Vector). Add a new raster layer (Layers > New Raster Layer) and Contract by 1 px (Selections > Modify > Contract). Fill with silver bg.
Step 5 Go to Effects > Artistic Effects > Halftone *see image below for settings*
Change blend mode to Soft Light. Ctrl+D to deselect.
Step 6 Click on Raster 1 (text layer). Now Ctrl+A (select all), Ctrl+F (Float), Ctrl+Shift+F (Defloat) and go to Selections > Modify > Expand by 2 px.
Step 7 Click on Background layer and Ctrl+Shift+P (or right-click and select Promote Selection To Layer).
Now go to Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow and adjust to the following settings:
2, 2, 26, 1.00, black
Ctrl+D to deselect (or Selections > Select None).
Step 8 Click the "eye" icon on Background layer to hide this layer.
Right-click on any of the visible layers (does not matter which one you choose) and select Merge > Merge Visible.
Save in any format you wish and you are done! ♥
Play around with the other halftone patterns (setting) and try different patterns, textures or even images to see what halftone designs they create.
Here is an example using Round (halftone, all other settings remain the same) and the color #008080 for my gradient. For the fill, I used a pattern that came with my PSP 8, Animal Zebra. Color enhanced to make it pop.
