Shabat HaGadol – El comienzo de la redención
El Shabat que precede a Pesaj es llamado Shabat HaGadol -el Gran Shabat. Existen muchas costumbres especiales relacionadas con este Shabat.
 Israel celebró su primer Shabat HaGadol en Egipto, en el décimo día de Nisán, cinco días antes de su redención. En aquel Shabat, los Hijos de Israel recibieron su primera mitzvá (precepto) que rigió únicamente para ese momento y no para las futuras generaciones: En el décimo día de este mes [Nisán]… tomará cada uno un cordero por casa paterna, uno por familia… (Exodo 12:3). Esta mitzvá de preparar un cordero para el sacrificio de Pesaj cuatro días antes de realizar la ofrenda fue especificada sólo en relación con aquel primer Pesaj en Egipto, pero con respecto a los siguientes la Torá no nos ordena proceder de esta forma. Sin embargo, el pueblo de Israel la siguió cumpliendo, dedicando estos días al examen de sus corderos, verificando que no tuvieran ningún defecto que los pudiera invalidar para ser sacrificados.
Grandes milagros tuvieron lugar en favor de los Hijos de Israel en este primer Shabat HaGadol. En aquel día, cada uno de ellos tomó un cordero para su ofrenda y lo ató a las patas de la cama. Los egipcios, al ver esto, preguntaron: “¿Para qué es este cordero?” Los Hijos de Israel respondieron: “Es para ser sacrificado como ofrenda de Pesaj, tal como Di-s nos lo ordenó”. Los dientes de los egipcios, para quienes el cordero constituía una deidad, crujieron de rabia, pero no pudieron emitir sonido alguno de protesta.
También ocurrieron otros milagros relacionados con este episodio, y por eso nos referimos a este día como Shabat HaGadol, en recuerdo de los grandes milagros que Di-s obró por nuestro bien.
En el Sefer haPardés —atribuido a Rashi— encontramos lo siguiente:
La gente acostumbra a llamar “Shabat HaGadol” al Shabat anterior a Pesaj pero ignora el por qué de este nombre especial, ya que en apariencia es igual a cualquier otro Shabat. Los Hijos de Israel salieron de Egipto un jueves, como lo registra Seder Olam (Capítulo 5), y prepararon el cordero para el sacrificio de Pesaj el Shabat anterior, en el décimo día de Nisán. Cuando se les ordenó hacerlo, dijeron: “¿Acaso es posible que sacrifiquemos al dios de los egipcios ante sus propios ojos y no nos apedreen?” Pero el Santo, bendito sea, les dijo: “Ahora veréis las maravillas que haré por vosotros”. Los Hijos de Israel tomaron de inmediato cada uno un cordero, que guardaron durante cuatro días. Cuando los egipcios vieron esto quisieron alzarse en su contra y tomar venganza, pero fueron azotados por todo tipo de males y no pudieron dañar a los Hijos de Israel. Debido a los milagros que Di-s obró en ese día, el Shabat anterior a Pesaj es llamado Shabat HaGadol.
Aun antes de que cada familia judía tomara un cordero el 10 de Nisán, los egipcios sabían que la plaga que se abatiría sobre sus primogénitos era inminente, pero desconocían el día exacto en que tendría lugar, pues la advertencia de Di-s, Enviaré una plaga más sobre el Faraón y Egipto (Exodo 11:1), ya había sido formulada el 7 de Nisán. Cuando los egipcios se enteraron de que los Hijos de Israel habían tomado corderos y los tenían amarrados a las patas de sus camas, un gran temor se apoderó de sus primogénitos. “La plaga está a punto de caer sobre nosotros”, dijeron. “Nuestros dioses están amarrados con cuerdas en las casas de los hebreos y no pueden defendernos”. Fue así que en aquel primer Shabat HaGadol los primogénitos egipcios llegaron a las casas judías dominados por el pánico, ansiosos por saber qué les deparaba el futuro.
Asimismo, Tosafot (Talmud, Shabat 87b) hace mención de este suceso en nombre del midrash:
Por eso nos referimos a este Shabat como “Shabat HaGadol”, pues un gran milagro ocurrió en aquel día. El midrash relata: Cuando los Hijos de Israel tomaron cada uno su cordero para Pesaj en ese Shabat, los primogénitos de todas las naciones del mundo se congregaron a su alrededor y les preguntaron el por qué de su proceder. Ellos respondieron: “Es la ofrenda de Pesaj para nuestro Di-s, quien dará muerte a todos los primogénitos egipcios”. De inmediato estos se dirigieron a sus padres y al Faraón, rogando que dejaran salir a Israel de Egipto, pero el Faraón y sus consejeros no estuvieron de acuerdo con la petición. Entonces los primogénitos libraron una guerra contra los otros egipcios, matando a muchos de ellos. Así lo expresa el versículo: Quien golpeó a Egipto a través de sus primogénitos (Salmos 136:10); es decir, los primogénitos mismos fueron quienes dieron muerte a otros egipcios.
CONMEMORACIÓN EN SHABAT EN LUGAR DEL 10 DE NISÁN
¿Por qué conmemoramos este milagro el Shabat anterior a Pesaj y no el 10 de Nisán, el día en que realmente ocurrió, tal como menciona la Torá (Exodo 12:3)?
La razón de ello es que dicho milagro guarda una estrecha relación con el Shabat. Los egipcios sabían que los Hijos de Israel observaban el Shabat y no se ocupaban del cuidado de los animales en ese día; por eso, cuando los vieron tomando corderos y atándolos a las patas de sus camas en Shabat, se sorprendieron y decidieron averiguar qué estaba sucediendo. Fueron y confrontaron a los Hijos de Israel quienes se vieron en un gran peligro, requiriéndose de un milagro para salvarse, puesto que era Shabat. Por este motivo conmemoramos el milagro en Shabat y no en el décimo día del mes.
Además, de no haber sido en Shabat, los Hijos de Israel no habrían necesitado de un milagro para ser salvados pues habrían podido persuadir a los egipcios distrayendo su atención hacia otro asunto o inventando cualquier tipo de justificación. Sin embargo, al ser Shabat, no podían actuar así, ya que, como dijeron nuestros Sabios, “Aun el ignorante siente temor al Shabat y no miente en este día”. Por lo tanto, en tales circunstancias sus vidas corrían peligro, siendo necesario un milagro para salvarse.
Otra de las razones por la cual conmemoramos el milagro en Shabat y no el 10 de Nisán es que en ese preciso día, cuarenta años más tarde, murió Miriam —hermana de Moshé— y desapareció el manantial que había acompañado a los Hijos de Israel proveyéndolos de agua durante su travesía en el desierto. Así, esta fecha fue establecida como día de “ayuno por los justos” cuando acaece en medio de la semana.
OTRAS RAZONES PARA EL NOMBRE “SHABAT HAGADOL”
Durante siglos, nuestros eruditos de la Torá han proporcionado diversas razones que justifican este nombre, razones acordes a quienes las formulan y que deleitan a quienes las oyen.
Algunos interpretan la palabra “hagadol” —el gran— como un adjetivo que califica al Shabat mismo. Aunque el sustantivo Shabat es femenino y el adjetivo hagadol se encuentra en su forma masculina, ello no debe inquietarnos pues muchas veces encontramos que un adjetivo cambia de su forma femenina a masculina cuando es utilizado para expresar grandeza e importancia.
Otros, por su parte, interpretan la palabra hagadol haciendo refe-rencia a otros asuntos. Lo que sigue a continuación es una selección de explicaciones adicionales que nuestros Sabios ofrecieron en relación a este tema:
— Al igual que un niño es considerado gadol (adulto) desde el momento en que recibe sobre sí la responsabilidad de cumplir las mitzvot, así también el día en que todo el pueblo de Israel observó su primera mitzvá —el acto de tomar un cordero el día 10 de Nisán— es llamado gadol (Jizkuni, Abudraham, y comentaristas posteriores).
— Cuando los Hijos de Israel estuvieron en Egipto, Moshé pidió al Faraón que les concediera un día de la semana —Shabat— como día de descanso. Así, apenas concluía el Shabat, regresaban de inmediato a su trabajo forzado. Sin embargo, en aquel Shabat no regresaron a su esclavitud, y por eso nos referimos a él como Shabat HaGadol (Rabí Iehoshúa de Trani, en nombre de su padre).
— Según la tradición de los Sabios, el versículo de la Torá que expresa: Y contaréis desde el día posterior a Shabat (Levítico 23:15), se refiere al día que sigue al primer día de Pesaj, a partir del cual comenzamos el conteo del omer. DIEZ DE NISAN
Unos días antes de ser liberados de la esclavitud en Egipto, los israelitas recibieron una instrucción especial de parte de Dios. (Exo 12:3-6) Hablad a toda la congregación de Israel, diciendo: "El día diez de este mes cada uno tomará para sí un cordero, según sus casas paternas; un cordero para cada casa. (4) "Mas si la casa es muy pequeña para un cordero, entonces él y el vecino más cercano a su casa tomarán uno según el número de personas; conforme a lo que cada persona coma, dividiréis el cordero. (5) "El cordero será un macho sin defecto, de un año; lo apartaréis de entre las ovejas o de entre las cabras. (6) "Y lo guardaréis hasta el día catorce del mismo mes; entonces toda la asamblea de la congregación de Israel lo matará al anochecer. El 10 de Nisán es el día en que los israelitas debían separar al cordero de la Pascua. Ese cordero iba a ser examinado durante esos días para asegurarse que fuera sin mancha ni defecto. Y el día 14 de Nisan, los israelitas debían sacrificar ese cordero. Su sangre debía ser puesta en las puertas de sus casas.  (Exo 12:7-12) "Y tomarán parte de la sangre y la pondrán en los dos postes y en el dintel de las casas donde lo coman. (8) "Y comerán la carne esa misma noche, asada al fuego, y la comerán con pan sin levadura y con hierbas amargas. (9) "No comeréis nada de él crudo ni hervido en agua, sino asado al fuego, tanto su cabeza como sus patas y sus entrañas. (10) "Y no dejaréis nada de él para la mañana, sino que lo que quede de él para la mañana lo quemaréis en el fuego. (11) "Y de esta manera lo comeréis: ceñidos vuestros lomos, las sandalias en vuestros pies y el cayado en vuestra mano, lo comeréis apresuradamente. Es la Pascua del SEÑOR. (12) "Porque esa noche pasaré por la tierra de Egipto, y heriré a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, tanto de hombre como de animal; y ejecutaré juicios contra todos los dioses de Egipto. Yo, el SEÑOR. La sangre era la señal de los que creían en YHVH, Dios de Israel. También serviría de señal para el Ángel que pasaría por cada casa cobrando la vida del primogénito. Quiénes tuvieran la señal de la sangre del cordero no sufrirían la muerte del promogénito. (Exo 12:13-14) Y la sangre os será por señal en las casas donde estéis; y cuando yo vea la sangre pasaré sobre vosotros, y ninguna plaga vendrá sobre vosotros para destruiros cuando yo hiera la tierra de Egipto. No es casualidad que la fecha en que Jesús hizo su entrada triunfal en Jerusalén fue el 10 de Nisán. (Juan 12:1) Entonces Jesús, seis días antes de la Pascua, vino a Betania donde estaba Lázaro, al que Jesús había resucitado de entre los muertos.(Juan 12:12-15) Al día siguiente, cuando la gran multitud que había venido a la fiesta, oyó que Jesús venía a Jerusalén, (13) tomaron hojas de las palmas y salieron a recibirle, y gritaban: ¡Hosanna! BENDITO EL QUE VIENE EN EL NOMBRE DEL SEÑOR, el Rey de Israel. (14) Jesús, hallando un asnillo, se montó en él; como está escrito: (15) NO TEMAS, HIJA DE SION; HE AQUI, TU REY VIENE, MONTADO EN UN POLLINO DE ASNA.En esa ocasión, el pueblo lo proclamó como “el Hijo de David”; en otras palabras, lo estaban reconociendo como el Mesías de Israel. Esto molestó mucho a los fariseos; aun así, no pudieron encontrar falta en Él. Del 10 al 14 de Nisán, Jesús estuvo a la vista de todo el pueblo. Todos le examinaron, y nadie le encontró falta. Él es el Cordero de Dios que no tiene mancha ni defecto. (I Pedro 1:18-19) sabiendo que no fuisteis redimidos de vuestra vana manera de vivir heredada de vuestros padres con cosas perecederas como oro o plata, (19) sino con sangre preciosa, como de un cordero sin tacha y sin mancha, la sangre de Cristo.
ENTRADA A LA TIERRA PROMETIDALa fecha del 10 de Nisán también es una fecha importante en la historia de Israel por otra razón: este fue el día en que los israelitas entraron en la Tierra Prometida. Unos días después de haber entrado, celebraron la Pascua (Josué 4:19-24). Es tiempo de dejar atrás el desierto y entrar a las promesas. Dios abrirá el camino, pero nosotros debemos dar los pasos.

The Annunciation (anglicised from the Latin Vulgate Luke 1:26-39 Annuntiatio nativitatis Christi), also referred to as the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary or Annunciation of the Lord, is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning "Saviour". Many Christians observe this event with the Feast of the Annunciation on 25 March, nine full months before Christmas, the birthday of Jesus. According to Luke 1:26, the Annunciation occurred "in the sixth month" of Elizabeth's pregnancy with John the Baptist.[3]
Approximating the northern vernal equinox, the date of the Annunciation also marked the New Year in many places, including England, where it is called Lady Day. Both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches hold that the Annunciation took place at Nazareth, but differ as to the precise location. The Basilica of the Annunciation marks the site preferred by the former, while the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation marks that preferred by the latter.
The Annunciation has been a key topic in Christian art in general, as well as in Marian art in the Catholic Church, particularly during the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

In the Bible, the Annunciation is narrated in the book of Luke, Luke 1:26-38:

A separate annunciation, which is more brief but in the same vein as the one in Luke, is given to Joseph in Matthew 1:18-21:

[edit] Eastern traditions
In Eastern Christianity Mary is referred to as Theotokos (Θεοτόκος="God-bearer"). The traditional Troparion (hymn for the day) of the Annunciation which goes back to Saint Athanasius of Alexandria is:[4]
- Today is the beginning of our salvation,
- And the revelation of the eternal mystery!
- The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin
- As Gabriel announces the coming of Grace.
- Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos:
- "Rejoice, O Full of Grace, the Lord is with you!"
The Feast of the Annunciation is one of the twelve Great Feasts of the church year. As the action initiating the Incarnation of Christ, Annunciation has such an important place in Eastern theology that the Festal Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is always celebrated on March 25, regardless of what day it falls on—even if it falls on Pascha (Easter Sunday) itself, a coincidence which is called Kyriopascha. The only time the Divine Liturgy may be celebrated on Great and Holy Friday is if it falls on March 25. Due to this, the rubrics regarding the celebration of the feast are the most complicated of all in Eastern liturgics. The Annunciation is called Euangelismos (Evangelism) in Greek, literally meaning "spreading the Good News".
St. Ephraim the Syrian taught that the date of the conception of Jesus Christ fell on 10 Nisan on the Hebrew Calendar, the day in which the passover lamb was selected according to Exodus 12. Some years 10 Nisan falls on March 25, which is the traditional date for the Feast of the Annunciation and is an official holiday in Lebanon.

The feast of the Annunciation is usually held on March 25; it is moved in the Catholic Church, Anglican and Lutheran liturgical calendars when this date would fall during Holy Week or Easter Week or on a Sunday.[5] The Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy and Eastern Catholic Churches do not move the feast, having special combined liturgies for those years when the Annunciation coincides with another feast; in fact in these churches a Divine Liturgy is celebrated on Good Friday when it coincides with the Annunciation.
When the calendar system of Anno Domini was first introduced by Dionysius Exiguus in AD 525, he assigned the beginning of the new year to March 25 since, according to Catholic theology, the era of grace began with the Incarnation of Christ. The first certain mentions of the feast are in a canon, of the Council of Toledo (656), where it is described as celebrated throughout the church., and another of the Council of Constantinople "in Trullo" (692), forbidding the celebration of any festivals during Lent, excepting the Lord's Day (Sunday) and the Feast of the Annunciation. An earlier origin has been claimed for it on the ground that it is mentioned in various works of which the earliest surviving manuscripts are later and may have been added to.[5]
[edit] The Annunciation in the Qur'an
The Annunciation is also described in the Qur'an, in Sura 3 (Al-i-Imran - The Family of Imran) verses 45-51 (archaic translation):
45Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
And Sura 19 (Maryam - Mary) verses 16-26 also refers to it. Muslim tradition holds that the Annunciation took place during the month of Ramadan.[6]

The Annunciation has been one of the most frequent subjects of Christian art.[7][8] Depictions of the Annunciation go back to early Christianity, with the Priscilla catacomb including the oldest known fresco of the Annunciation, dating to the 4th century.[9] It is has been a favorite artistic subject in both the Christian East and as Roman Catholic Marian art, particularly during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and figures in the repertoire of almost all of the great masters. The figures of the virgin Mary and the angel Gabriel, being emblematic of purity and grace, were favorite subjects of Roman Catholic Marian art, where the scene is also used to represent the perpetual virginity of Mary via the announcement by the angel Gabriel that Mary would conceive a child to be born the Son of God.
Works on the subject have been created by artists such as Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Duccio and Murillo among others. The mosaics of Pietro Cavallini in Santa Maria in Trastevere in Rome (1291), the frescos of Giotto in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua (1303), Domenico Ghirlandaio's fresco at the church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence (1486), and Donatello's gilded sculpture at the church of Santa Croce, Florence (1435) are famous examples.

The Great Pyramid encodes enormous amount of numerical coincidences ( pi, Phi, dimensions and movement of our planet, axial tilt, precession, speed of light, and more…)
We can only wonder if the ancient architects were fully aware of these special numbers encoded in their design — or are these numbers simply the result of selecting 2 numbers (7 and 11) for proportions for the Great Pyramid???

The design of the Great Pyramid is based on the ratio 11:7. This ratio (equal 1.571) is perfect approximation of the “squaring the circle” principle.
For the Great Pyramid, Base to Height Ratio 440/280 is exactly 11/7
Most “pyramidologists” appear to be “chasing their tails” uncovering huge amount of “numerical coincidences” embedded in the Great Pyramid…
It is simply unbelievable, however ALL of these numerical coincidences are result of selecting just 4 numbers for the pyramid design: 7, 11 (height to base ratio), 40 (the scale factor), and the 4th key number is the value of the measuring unit: Royal Cubit = 20.62 ” = 0.524 m.

This single, fundamental design principle: 11 : 7 Base to Height Ratio generates ALL amazing mathematical properties of the Great Pyramid:
- the Golden Ratio Phi=1.618 (the Great Pyramid is a Golden Pyramid: length of the slope side (356) divided by half of the side (440/2 = 220) height is equal to 1.6181818… which is the Golden Ratio Phi
- squaring the circle ratio 1.571 (base/height = 44/28 = 1.571)
- pi=3.14159… (2 x base/height = 2 x 44/28 = 3.14286 which is very close approximation of “pi” = 3.14159…)
- Perimeter of the square base, 4×440=1760, is the same as circumference of the circle with radius = height: 2x ”pi” x height (2x 22/7 x 280=1760)
- The ratio of the perimeter to height of 1760/280 cubits equates to 2x pi
to an accuracy of better than 0.05%
- Side of the base (440) plus double height (2x 280=560) = 1,000
