LA INICIATIVA PERSONAL EN LA ERA DE ACUARIO
Personal Initiative In The Aquarian Age

Fuerzas externas pueden inducirnos a veces a actuar de cierta manera. Otras personas
pueden decirnos que hagamos algo o pedirnos que hagamos algo, o esperarlo de
nosotros, o rogarnos o incluso culparnos por hacer ciertas cosas. El tiempo atmosférico
o las vibraciones astrológicas pueden estimularnos para hacer ciertas cosas antes que
otras. Las personas, sin embargo, necesitan no ser hojas llevadas por el viento. Las
personas no deben moverse en la dirección en la que las empujan las fuerzas externas
sino que pueden decidir si responderán a las fuerzas externas y cómo lo harán. Las
personas pueden incluso decidir actuar cuando ninguna fuerza externa está presente.
Cuandoquiera que alguien inicia una acción que no es en respuesta a una fuerza externa,
se dice que esa persona muestra iniciativa.
En la Era de Piscis ni se esperaba ni se alentaba que las personas mostrasen iniciativa.
Los dirigentes decían a la gente qué hacer y el pueblo obraba sin discusión según se le
indicaba. En la Era de Acuario, sin embargo, la iniciativa debe ser desarrollada. Acuario
está regido por el planeta Urano, una de cuyas características es la superación. A medida
que las personas se abran a nuevas ideas, encontrarán formas diferentes de hacer las
cosas y, por consiguiente, emprenderán acciones nuevas también.
En cualquier era, la constelación opuesta a la regente muestra los ideales esotéricos por
los que se luchará en esa época. Así, Leo, el signo opuesto a Acuario, nos muestra los
ideales esotéricos para la Era de Acuario. El Sol rige a Leo, el cual favorece que las
personas desarrollen el poder de la voluntad. En la Era de Acuario, la constelación de
Leo despertará el Espíritu interno del hombre hasta el punto de poder ejercer el poder de
la voluntad para que las personas tengan motivaciones propias.
Si hemos de responder a las radiaciones acuarianas, deberemos esforzarnos por
desarrollar iniciativa en nosotros mismos. Mientras lo hacemos, necesitamos tener
presentes ciertas cosas:
1) A medida que cesamos de imitar amigos, seguir líderes y aceptar costumbres
para empezar a tomas nuestras propias decisiones, necesitamos alguna Luz
interior que nos guíe. Debemos despertar la Luz de la Verdad y el Amor dentro
nuestro de modo que podamos distinguir entre lo verdadero y lo falso, entre lo
correcto y lo equivocado.
2) Debemos pensar siempre antes de actuar. Independientemente de lo que otros
digan o hagan, o de lo que nos apetezca hacer (debido a nuestros hábitos o a las
influencias astrológicas), debemos tener razones bien meditadas para cualquier
cosa que hagamos.
3) Debemos estar dedicados a la búsqueda de caminos para servir, y al servicio de
otros cuandoquiera que surja la oportunidad. Max Heindel escribe en Cartas a
los estudiantes (carta nº 20) que debemos aprender a trabajar sin liderazgo, cada
uno impulsado internamente por el Espíritu del Amor para luchar por la
elevación física, moral y espiritual del mundo entero. Adicionalmente, en
Preguntas y respuestas, vol. 2, pregunta nº 70, escribe que los Hermanos
Mayores, quienes guían a los discípulos de la Escuelas de Misterios de
Occidente en su crecimiento espiritual, “... nunca apremian, nunca alaban y
nunca censuran. El apremio debe venir de dentro del discípulo y ellos le enseñan
a juzgarse a sí mismo...En todo sentido lo educan para valerse por sí mismo sin
apoyarse en ellos o en cualquier otro.”
Necesitamos examinar de continuo las circunstancias en las que nos encontramos,
decidir lo que debe hacerse y luego iniciar esas acciones que nos llevarán a los objetivos
deseados.

Sometimes external forces may induce us to act in certain ways. Other people may tell us to do something, or ask us to do something, or expect us to do something, or praise or blame us for doing certain things. The weather or astrological radiations may stimulate us to do certain things rather than other things. People, however, need not be like leaves blown in the wind. People do not have to move in the direction in which the external forces push, but they rather can choose whether they will respond to the external forces, and how they will respond. People may even choose to act when no external forces are present. Whenever someone initiates an action which is not a response to an external force, that person is said to exhibit initiative.
In the Piscean Age, people were not expected or encouraged to exhibit initiative. The leaders told people what to do and the people did as they were told without question. In the Aquarian Age, however, initiative is to be developed. Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus, one of whose characteristics is outreach." As people reach out to new ideas, they will think up new ways of doing things and thence will initiate new actions.
In any age the constellation opposite the constellation of the age shows the esoteric ideals which will be striven for in the age. Thus, Leo [which is opposite Aquarius] shows the esoteric ideals for the Aquarian Age. Leo is ruled by the Sun, which stimulates people to develop the power to say, "I will." In the Aquarian Age, the constellation of Leo will help awaken the Spirit within man to the point where it can exert the willpower to make people self-motivated.
If we would respond to the Aquarian radiations, we must strive to develop initiative in ourselves. As we do so there are several things we need to keep in mind.
1] As we break away from imitating friends, following leaders, and accepting customs and begin to make our own decisions, we need some inner Light to guide us. We must awaken the Light of Truth and Love within ourselves so that we can distinguish truth from falsehood and right from wrong.
2] We must always think before we act. Regardless of what others say or do, or what we feel like doing [due to our habits or to astrological force patterns], we must have well-considered reasons for everything we do.
3] We must be committed to finding for ourselves ways to serve, and to serving others whenever the opportunity arises. Max Heindel notes ["Letters to Students," p. 53] that we must learn to work without leadership; each being prompted by the Spirit of Love from within to strive for the physical, moral, and spiritual uplift of all the world. He further notes ["Questions and Answers," volume 2, p. 226] that the Elder Brothers who guide the spiritual growth of the pupils in the Western Mystery Schools "never urge, never praise, and never blame. The urge must come from within the pupil, and they teach him to judge himself...In every respect they educate him to stand upon his own feet without leaning on them or anyone else."
We need to continuously examine the circumstances we find ourselves in, decide what needs to be done, and then initiate those actions which will lead to the desired goals.
