Thanks so much for sharing this twinkle technique, Judy!

When I first tested it, I created the selection and then tried to apply the Constellation, and no matter what size selection I created, there was never any twinkles added .  I tried again just now and before applying the Constellation, I thought I'd fill the selection with black.  With the black fill I was able to add a twinkle inside the selection .

Do you remember if you filled your selection with black first before applying the Constellation?  I'd be curious to know.

If I remember correctly I've had some troubles with my Constellation filter in the past, so I'm wondering if I even know how to use it properly LOL.

As far as having to add black to the selection, no, but for the twinkle where you want it (non-animated version) there has to be some image or background in your selection.  It won't work on a transparent background or area.

 

Do you think that is what happened?

 

On the animated version you start with a white square as your image and in Constellation you tick the box that states to "make the selection transparent", which eliminates the original square.

Oh, I see .  Thank you for explaining that, Judy.  Yes, the first part of the tutorial, the non-animated part, I didn't realize I had to select on a layer with an image.  That is what I did wrong.  I tried to create a selection on an empty layer .

When I couldn't get that part to work, then I didn't go further in the tutorial as I was waiting to hear back from you.  Now that I understand I will go back and complete the tutorial and show my results.  My tag up there isn't my results for your tutorial; it's just a sparkly tag that I made .

I'll find some image to make a tag with and I'll twinkle where I want it haha.
