THE SWASTIKA

The swastika, hackenkreuz, gamma cross, gammadion, St. Brigid's cross, or fylfot cross is a symbol found around the world. It not universally drawn either clockwise or counterclockwise, and it occurs in both curved and squared forms.

This postcard, copyright 1907 by E. Phillips, a U.S. card publisher, speaks for the universally high regard in which the swastika was held as a good luck token before use by the Nazis corrupted its meaning.

The text on the card back reads:

GOOD LUCK EMBLEM
"The Swastika" is the oldest cross and emblem in the world. It forms a combination of four "L's" standing for Luck, Light, Love and Life. It has been found in ancient Rome, excavations in Grecian cities, on Buddhist idols, on Chinese coins dated 315 B.C., and our own Southwest Indians use it as an amulet.

It is claimed that the Mound Builders and Cliff Dwellers of Mexico, Central America consider "The Swastika" a charm to drive away evil and bring good luck, long life and prosperity to the possessor.

It should be noted that this text is not entirely accurate: The Mound Builders inhabited the Ohio River Valley and the Cliff Dwellers lived in the Southwestern United States; however, both did use the swastika, as did the Mayas of Mexico. Furthermore, although the swastika may look like four "L's" to one who uses the Roman alphabet, in Greek it forms four Gammas ("G's"), in Hebrew it can be seen as four Daleths ("D's"), and among the non-literate people of North America, it corresponded to no letters at all. Thus the ascription of Luck, Light, Love, and Life to the amulet is simply an English mnemonic, although it is prettily reinforced on this card by images of a horseshoe (luck), the rising Sun (light), twin hearts (love), and Earth (life). Finally, not mentioned in the text is the swastika's use as the specific emblem of Ganesha, the Hindu god of good luck, who is also represented as an elephant.

At left is a very nice American-made beaded item from the 1920s that bears the initials J.B.Y. and a black swastika on a white background. It is a simple strap-woven seed-bead piece of the type often made for a merit badge by Girl and Boy Scouts, or, as in this case, woven on a "while you wait" basis by American Indians for tourists at places like the Fred Harvey hotel chain in Arizona and New Mexico. It was found in an estate collection of Native American bead-work that had been put away and wrapped in 1929-dated newspapers. The twisted cotton threads terminate in a brass pin for hanging.

The use of the swastika in domestic ornament was fairly common in the 19th century. I have seen a beautiful white wedding dress, circa 1900, covered all over with embroidered swastikas. It came from the trousseau of a Polish-German immigrant woman, a "mail-order-bride" who was married in the U.S.

The swastika or hackencreuz was not a Nazi symbol originally, but was adopted by them as a "lucky" logo. (Imagine a political party of butchering madmen adopting the four-leaf clover as their symbol!) Some people believe that the swastika has been permanently co-opted or ruined by its brief appropriation by the Nazis -- who stood it up diagonally and placed it in a circle rather than running it four-square, and gave it their brand-logo colour scheme of black, white, and red, thus making THEIR swastika a national seal, unlike the non-Nazi swastikas of varied colour and form one finds all around the world.

It is a common misconception, almost an urban legend of sorts, to impute directional or positional preference or meaning to the swastika, and to claim that the Nazis "reversed the swastika" or "rotated it backwards" and therefore rendered it "evil." But this idea that directionality is important in the history of swastika usage is demonstrably untrue: counter-balancing (bilaterally symmetrical) arrays of clockwise and counterclockwise swastikas are common in both ancient and modern Indian art.

I believe that these considerations concerning the left- and right-turning swastika arose after the Nazis adopted the device -- and were part of a failed attempt to salvage at least a part of its former meaning by establishing a "good swastika versus bad swastika" dichotomy. Unfortunately, this swastika purity restoration attempt failed because ancient monuments and steles do not bear the theory out: The swastika appears in both left- and right-turned models in virtually all past cultures with no "deosil" and "widdershins" thought behind the direction, nor with "good" or "evil" concepts attached. The Nazis tipped the swastika up on end (diagonally), but it is even found that way in some old historical artifacts as well, such as this lovely example of the lucky swastika -- an embossed and airbrushed American postcard of the 1905 - 1910 era, bearing the legend "To Darling Baby," accompanied by a lavender swastika and a bunch of Lily-of-the-Valley flowers.

Some people believe that the display of any sort of swastika should be forbidden because it is offensive to Jews. From first-hand experience, i can assure you that dozens of elderly German Jews i personally know who lived through or escaped the holocaust, were and are well aware that the swastika pre-dated the Nazis and do not consider it a Nazi symbol. One thing most of them have learned -- and have taught to me -- is that RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE is a key to preventing future holocausts. Therefore they honour and respect the religious iconography of others. including the Jains and the Hindus, who revere the swastika as a symbol of a symbol of long life, good health, and good luck, and the special symbol of the Hindu elephant headed god Ganesh. My own mother, a Jew raised in Germany in the early 20th century, tells me that her family's sun-porch had an inlaid tile design of swastikas on the floor -- and her mother once told her it was "wrong" of Hitler to use the symbol as a political emblem. The swastikas were still there on the floor when she and her family fled Germany to escape.

Gurdjieff focused on two main cosmic laws, the Law of Three and the Law of Seven.

The Law of Seven is described by Gurdjieff as “the first fundamental cosmic law”. This law is used to explain processes. The basic use of the law of seven is to explain why nothing in nature and in life constantly occurs in a straight line, that is to say that there are always ups and downs in life which occur lawfully. Examples of this can be noticed in athletic performances, where a high ranked athlete always has periodic downfalls, as well as in nearly all graphs that plot topics that occur over time, such as the economic graphs, population graphs, death-rate graphs and so on. All show parabolic periods that keep rising and falling. Gurdjieff claimed that since these periods occur lawfully based on the law of seven that it is possible to keep a process in a straight line if the necessary shocks were introduced at the right time. A piano keyboard is an example of the law of seven, as the seven notes of the major scale correspond exactly to it.

The Law of Three is described by Gurdjieff as “the second fundamental cosmic law”. This law states that every whole phenomenon is composed of three separate sources, which are Active, Passive and Reconciling or Neutral. This law applies to everything in the universe and humanity, as well as all the structures and processes. The Three Centers in a human, which Gurdjieff said were the Intellectual Centre, the Emotional Centre and the Moving Centre, are an expression of the law of three. Gurdjieff taught his students to think of the law of three forces as essential to transforming the energy of thehuman being. The process of transformation requires the three actions of affirmation, denial and reconciliation.

How the Law of Seven and Law of Three function together is said to be illustrated on the Fourth Way Enneagram, a nine-pointed symbol which is the central glyph of Gurdjieff’s system.

Law of Three

The Law of Three, in a short description, means that three forces enter into every manifestation, into every phenomenon, and every event. They are called (but these are only words, because they do not express their qualities) positive, negative and neutralising, or active, passive and neutralising; or, still more simply, they may be called first force, second force and third force.

These three forces enter into everything. In many cases we understand the need for two forces — that one force cannot create an action, that there is action and resistance. But generally we are not aware of the third force. This is connected with the state of our being, the state of our consciousness. In another state we would be aware of it in many cases where we do not see it now. Sometimes we can find examples of the third force in ordinary scientific study — for example, in chemistry and in biology we can find the necessity for a third force in the creation of events and phenomena.

We begin with the study of psychology. Later we shall talk more about three forces and we may find some examples of their interaction. But it is better to be prepared and get accustomed now to the idea of the need to study these three forces.

Law of Seven

The Law of Seven must also be described briefly. It means that no process in the world goes without interruptions.

In order to understand the meaning of this law it is necessary to regard the Universe as consisting of vibrations. Suppose something begins to vibrate at 1000 vibrations a second and the frequency increases to 2000 vibrations a second. This period is called an octave, because this law was applied to music and the period was divided into seven notes and a repetition of the first note.

The octave, particularly the major octave, is really a picture or formula of a cosmic law because, in common arrangements, within one octave there are two moments when octaves slow down by themselves. Vibrations do not develop regularly. In the major octave this is shown by the missing semi-tones; that is why we are told that it is a picture of a cosmic law; but this law is not restricted to music.

The reason why it is necessary to understand the Law of Seven is that it plays a very important part in all events. If there were no Law of Seven, everything in the world would go directly to its final conclusion; but because of this law, everything deviates. For instance, if rain began it would go on without stopping; if floods began, they would cover everything; if an earthquake began it would go on indefinitely. But they stop because of the Law of Seven, because at every missing semi-tone things deviate; they do not go by straight lines.

The Law of Seven also explains why there are no straight lines in Nature. Everything in Life and in our machine is based on this law. So we shall study it in the work of our organism, because we have to study ourselves not only psychologically, not only in connection with our mental life, but also in connection with our physical life. In our physical processes we find many examples of the working of this law.

At the same time, the Law of Seven explains that, if you know how and at what moment to do it, you can give an additional shock to an octave and keep the line straight. We can observe in human activity how people start to do one thing and after some time do a quite different thing, still calling it by the first name without noticing that things have completely changed. But in personal work, particularly in work connected with this system, we must learn how to keep these octaves from deviating, how to keep a straight line. Otherwise we shall not find anything.

Odin had two wolves named Geri and Freki, who are also the Alpha and Omega, that is spoken of in the Bible.

They are the 8th and 17th Runes, which are also 36 and 37 on the calendar of evolution. In that calendar, 36 is the first and 37 is the last.

They represent the good and bad voice some hear during schizophrenia. In Greek mythology they are known as the three headed dog Cerberus who guards the gates of hell. These three heads represent the good voice, the bad voice, and the schizoid person in the middle.

They also represent seeing the red frequency of 36 which represents imperfection, while seeing the gold frequency of 37 represents perfection.

They also represent the Ovum being 36 and the Zygote being 37.
‘Semen’ and ‘Ovum’ together equal the numerological value 37.

The space-time characteristics of the axonal action potential are remarkably similar to the scaled equivalents of lightning. The energy and current densities from these transients within their respective volumes or cross-sectional areas are the same order of magnitude. Length–velocity ratios and temporal durations are nearly identical. There are similar chemical consequences such as the production of nitric oxide. Careful, quantitative examination of the characteristics of lightning may reveal analogous features of the action potential that could lead to a more accurate understanding of these powerful correlates of neurocognitive processes.

The 11th Rune is Zeus’ lightning bolt.
It also represents the Light of God, also referred to as Jesus in the stories of the Bible.
The name Jesus broken down in numerology equals 11, showing that Jesus is the lightning bolt. Zeus is the ancient name for the planet we now call Jupiter. The lightening also bolt represents the electric jolt and spasms of an orgasm.

The 12th Rune is the hammer of Thorr,which is really Earth, Wind (or Air), Water, and Fire going up in frequency, caused by the electric jolt of the 11th Rune. The hammer of Thorr is what slams into the Kundalini forcing it up the spine until it hits the crown chakra at the top of the head.

Pliny the ELder and 37

In Pliny’s 37 volumes of Natural History, Volume 1 mostly summarized the remaining 36 books. Volume 2 covered cosmology and astronomy. Volumes 3 through 6 described geography. Volumes 7 through 11 covered zoology — everything from people to fish to bugs — relying strongly on the teachings of Aristotle. Volumes 12 through 19 covered botany, including much of the work of Theophrastus. Volumes 20 through 32 were devoted to drugs and medicine. Do the Wright Thing – OrvILLE‘s First Flight was 37 meters

The first flight of the Wright Brothers was for a distance of 120 feet and lasted 12 seconds. With Orville as pilot, the plane took off at 10:35 a.m.

The brothers made a total of four flights on that day, December 17th 1903.

First Flight: Orville, 120 feet (37 meters) in 12 seconds, Speed: 6.8 mph (10.9 km/h).

Louis BLErIot – the EngLIsh ChannEL and 37

On 25 July 1909 he tried again, taking off from Calais, France in his lightweight monoplane before dawn. Powered by a 28-horsepower engine, his plane was blown miles off its planned course by strong winds in the Channel, but Blériot reached England and landed the plane at Northfall Meadow in Dover at 5:17 AM. The 22-mile flight took 37 minutes, and the resultant fame made Blériot famous worldwide. His company became a leading manufacturer of airplanes, including the SPAD fighter flown by allied nations during the First World War.

He discovered also that if he vibrated a plate at a specific frequency and amplitude – vibration – the shapes and motion patterns characteristic of that vibration appeared in the material on the plate. If he changed the frequency or amplitude, the development and pattern were changed as well.

Chladni figures for a square steel plate (adapted from Waller 1961) demonstrates the fantastic variety of standing wave patterns that can arise from a simple resonating system. A square steel plate is clamped at its midpoint and sprinkled with sand. It is then set into vibration either by bowing with a violin bow, or by pressing dry ice against it.

The resultant standing wave patterns are revealed by the sand, that collects at the nodes of the oscillation where the vibration is minimal.

Ancient Egyptian Creation Myths

The sun rises from the mound of creation at the beginning of time.

The central circle represents the mound, and the three orange circles are the sun in different stages of its rising. At the top is the “horizon” hieroglyph with the sun appearing atop it. At either side are the goddesses of the north and south, pouring out the waters that surround the mound. The eight stick figures are the gods of the Ogdoad, hoeing the soil.

Rosetta Mandala Fractal

Just recently I finally got around to associating this image that I photographed in 2006 in Peru, (a Kodak/Nikon moment that has changed my life forever) to the SQUARE or CUBE, which I am now associating with the numbers 137, placed between two GREEN pillars.

Is it because the number 137, referred to as a ‘dimensionless number’, which is associated with the two spectral lines** of a hydrogen atom, is also placed between two lines similar to the pervading archetype of two pillars flanking an entrance.
(**spectral lines look like bar codes and reveals a unique fingerprint)

YES this association is so profound.

And right here in the HERE and NOW, I do declare, I finally realize WTF I have here.
What we have is a powerful MANDALA, it is without a doubt an archetype that we can associate with both the macro cosmic zodiac and something ‘atomic’ beyond the molecular…the ‘microcosm’.
A Model that can be applied to both the Big and the Small equally, with lessons learned with each application.

I feel what I have here, in this image, (circa 16th-18th century is a guess till I can authenticate) that I had nicknamed the ‘Rosetta Mandala Fractal’ (some time ago) is a MODEL for what befuddles the greatest mInDs today, certainly on the atomic level.

And it concerns the number 137 which the physicist has placed between two fine spectral lines.
And though I can place the CUBE between these two spectral lines, which appear as GREEN PILLARS, along with the number 137, the next step is placing a tetrahedron with a 137 sphere packing inside the CUBE.

Please note in this demonstration re: the evolution of the MiNd that the cutting edge of humanity is usually considered crazy.
The video gets interesting around 5 minutes.

Itzak’s demonstration in this video clearly illustrates why genius/crazy share the same space on the evolutionary curve, a convergence that is usually found not in the peaks but in the valleys of evolution.

However after studying the movement of the swastika on the NANO scale I AM convinced either swastika oriented to the left or right can rotate in either direction.
And the direction that Bentov is indicating is probably correct.
The direction he is suggesting is due to high frequencies.

The complex world is created by a whirling motion of atoms separated from the void. This motion is like an Anaxagorean or Empedoclean vortex – spinning in a centripetal and centrifugal process. It appears his entire theory defaults to ‘phi’ and everything golden.

The KEY at your link looks like a circle with '3' lines or rays emanating from it, each line separated by 120 degrees.

In other words monk, I see a tetrahedron, which harbors the KEY to Universal Movement = SWASTIKA

Now Bucky Fuller thought the TETRAHEDRON (triangle) not the CUBE (square) was the primary building block of the universe.
(I can show you why this is true)
BTW both have been represented by the SWASTIKA, as either 3-fold rotation, or 4-fold rotation.
There is of course the 5-fold rotation swastika associated with the 2D PENTAGON

The MASON symbolism is all about geometry of the heavens and the earth being mirror images, that go through cosmic, reflections, rotations and translations of the original.
The FALL OF MAN does not need to be a straight line on the way DOWN, or the on the way back UP.
Freemason symbolism borrows from many beliefs, because it does concern itself with the geometry of the universe.
